Q. Hey Oracle! Just heard Paradise. ITS AMAZING!! Love it!

Not like "Hey oracle i hate paradise what do i have to expect now?"

The oracle is pretending like he/she never heard the bootleg version of POC on youtube

and says this

" I've had a lot of mail about this since the news broke. The first time I heard POC it was just an instrumental. The second time I heard it Chris & Rihanna's vocals had been added. I have to say it sounds amazing. I then heard the band perform it live. I liked it a lot, but not quite as much. For me it was wise to drop it from the set because it simply didn't sound the same without Rihanna. It was written with her in mind so it makes perfect sense. When you hear it, you will see and hopefully agree."

BULLSHIT!!!

Here is another dumb answer from The Oracle

" it made sense to leave MTM off."

Without any argument why it made sense.

you mad bro?

Nope.

But i just know most of you trust the oracle.

i'm just warning those people for this Oracle.

It's all part of the marketing system and nothing else.

You realise, it's entirely possible the version of Princess Of China with Rihanna's vocals was made BEFORE they performed it live? Which is what that reply implies. I don't see how the Oracle is pretending it never existed.. at all.

And no argument as to why MTM was left off? We don't actually know much about the album and the story, if there is one, about the general theme of the tracks, so making this clear would probably spoil something.

I nipped at her back when Paradise surfaced. Like I legitimately sent some three paragraph explanation of how Paradise makes me feel like the band belittles us and dumbs down the lyrics. Maybe I'll be featured as the team Oracle question and everyone will give me self-esteem advice. :(

I don't want to not like this band. My heart hurts from hearing Paradise, my heart hurts to hear these lyrics and this shallow music. I've almost been trying to like it. I would not mind to see the Oracle addressing some rage and hatred sometimes, it's pretty obvious that it exists. It's existed since Parachutes, maybe even earlier. Of course she has a bias to the band, but that doesn't mean the displeased fans can't be voiced. If this were Stars or Chilly Gonzales' website, they'd respond to all hate-mail and political mail strictly!

Chris said he asked her in Vegas this year, right? Wasn't that well after Rock Im Park though?

To be honest, I still have hope for this track. It's not like it's listed as Princess of China (feat. Rihanna) on the back or in the tracklisting, she's not held up as a billboard for more fans. Out of all the CP disappointments, this one seems the least effective in breaking my spirit. I just wish they crossed the Panama canal and chose an oriental singer. They could even try and pass Bjork off if they wanted to, a lot of CP fans tend to be ignorant to anything they don't listen to.

I can't help but think that even though a lot of the 'hardcore' fans seem to be complaining, it seems they are the 'loud minority', because a huge amount of people actually like BOTH of the singles released so far.

In terms of shallow lyrics, I feel this is somewhat due to the fact the song is taken out of context with the rest of the album. My high hopes remain for MX, regardless of the 'songwriting not being up to standard'.

If that's true about Vegas, I was not aware of this, and that sucks majorly, but surely the Oracle wouldn't trip up on something like that, it could have been 'explained' without contradiction...

Sure, they could have picked a different vocalist, but I guess they just picked whoever they thought would be best for the song. I dunno. :P

i understand you're annoyance with her and i to can sometimes get annoyed with her answers and the questions that she does answer though we still have to realise that most bands don't have this much interaction with the fans. Also, bands need to keep secrets to build up the excitement of their new songs and albums and that can't be done if the oracle answers every question truthfully.

I admit that i can get pretty annoyed with the questions she answers (like "In the song Clocks, why isn't the word "Clocks" mentioned?".......that's just really stupid....it's also incorrect like she answered) but at least we get to ask questions.....

by the way, she would never say that a song is bad or anything very negative about the band.......it just won't happen

I still love the Oracle :}

Chilly Gonzales should produce their next album, he's a great producer.

She just has a different opinion to you. What a pointless thread!!!

Totally agree about the loud minority part. If you venture out beyond Coldplaying, there has been high praise for Coldplay's new work. It's ironic and I love it.

where ?

where ?

There are lots of good reviews of Paradise all in all and the sales speak for themselves. A lot of people like the new material

As for the Oracle, of course she is partial: she loves Coldplay! But the fact that she admitted POC did not sound that good live shows that she can show disappointment at something. That aside, I agree that it is an incredible opportunity to interact with the band and I for one am very grateful for that!

I nipped at her back when Paradise surfaced. Like I legitimately sent some three paragraph explanation of how Paradise makes me feel like the band belittles us and dumbs down the lyrics. Maybe I'll be featured as the team Oracle question and everyone will give me self-esteem advice. :(

You have actually sent her your complaint? I'm so proud of you. I've been thinking about doing something like it for some time but I haven't really even started yet. Somehow I think the band is not aware of the concern and frustration among the fans. Of course, I don't mean to delude myself into thinking that her reading that explanation of yours would have any impact on the band. It would be nice if it had, though.

Ah, the sales

A lot of people like britney spears, lady gaga and the black eyed peas.

There are even good reviews of these horrible 'acts' around, so what's your point ?

I'm curious to see those "lots of good reviews", can you post some links ?

I just wait for Mylo and also miss old Coldplay but talking in this way about good old Oracle is not acceptable I think, wait dudes, why all of us has become mad...?

Haha, you know i thought exactly the same thing and i thought i was the only one! A few months back i asked a question like, ' Is it true that the Drum beat to In My Place was inspired by Led Zeppelin's When The Levee Breaks? ' Seemed like a fairly intelligent and interesting question? but NO answer.

It really makes me laugh when the SAME questions get answered over and over again, and not just the SAME questions, but really stupid and quite frankly retarded ones too like these;

Q. Dear Oracle,

The other day I met some people claiming to be Coldplay on Call of Duty. Everything seemed to check out, but I need to know: Do the guys play xbox in their spare time?

Q. Was the album that Coldplay are letting people have for free leftrightleftrightleft recorded at Glastonbury? Just wondered

Q. In the song Clocks by Coldplay I noticed that the lyrics don't even mention the word "clocks"... Why is that?

These are just a few quick examples, there are even more wastes of questions than you can imagine.

My point was simply answering your question about where the single was positively received, hence my mention of sales and reviews....

They are in the Paradise press thread. There are mixed reviews but also plenty of good reviews....

The oracle=just part of the marketing system.

Just say that everything that Coldplay does is a good descision and people will buy.

Remember:The oracle gets money for giving you these dumb answers.

And Who the fuck is the oracle.Maybe it's martin himself.Who knows.maybe he's mother.

Martin is a mother? :surprised:

Well Oracle sorta marketing & PR person, what did you expect? Frankly I don't read oracle because it's mainly BS now.

Or maybe her opinion is like many : Everything Coldplay does is amazing.

It doesn't take a genius to just look at the official youtube vid to see there are only 450 dislikes to 13,000 likes (ETIAW had around 1,500 dislikes to those likes, over 3x more), those who really dislike Paradise are in a small minority, many of those happen to be using this forum and can't take change and accept the fact Coldplay like to change their sound and experiment.
