The Oracle=Bullshit!

Featured Replies

I never trusted the oracle. It's not an independent person.

The Oracle thinks that everything Coldplay does is fantastic.

Also this oracle person only answers questions who begin something like this

September 12, 2011 - submitted by Kelly, United Kingdom

Q. Hey Oracle! Just heard Paradise. ITS AMAZING!! Love it!

Not like "Hey oracle i hate paradise what do i have to expect now?"

The oracle is pretending like he/she never heard the bootleg version of POC on youtube

and says this

" I've had a lot of mail about this since the news broke. The first time I heard POC it was just an instrumental. The second time I heard it Chris & Rihanna's vocals had been added. I have to say it sounds amazing. I then heard the band perform it live. I liked it a lot, but not quite as much. For me it was wise to drop it from the set because it simply didn't sound the same without Rihanna. It was written with her in mind so it makes perfect sense. When you hear it, you will see and hopefully agree."

BULLSHIT!!!

Here is another dumb answer from The Oracle

" it made sense to leave MTM off."

Without any argument why it made sense.

--------------------------

Right first off, you thought for even a second that the person was independent? Of course that is laughable. It's part of the Coldplay.com site so the person is going to be closely affiliated with the band and so will have to convey positive expression of the band.

Secondly, this is harsh beans. The Oracle doesn't deserve this sort of anger. She did nothing wrong. Yeah, I tend to agree I would of liked more of an explanation as to why it made sense to leave MTM off but include MM. But you can't go lashing out at her for it.

Misdirected anger much?

Totally agree about the loud minority part. If you venture out beyond Coldplaying, there has been high praise for Coldplay's new work. It's ironic and I love it.

Where? As far as I'm aware NME slated it and Q completely bypassed even mentioning it.

Or maybe her opinion is like many : Everything Coldplay does is amazing.

It doesn't take a genius to just look at the official youtube vid to see there are only 450 dislikes to 13,000 likes (ETIAW had around 1,500 dislikes to those likes, over 3x more), those who really dislike Paradise are in a small minority, many of those happen to be using this forum and can't take change and accept the fact Coldplay like to change their sound and experiment.

If 13,000 people jump off a bridge and 450 people don't, what would you do? Jump off a bridge as well because that's what the majority of people are doing? Surely the 450 people aren't rational by not jumping off as well!

I remember the Oracle said that he/she doesn't like Speed of Sound, for example, so it's not like he says everything is good. As for the Rihanna thing, the song was written with her in mind. The Las Vegas thing could've happened in 2008/9, they didn't say when it was. I'm sure it sounds better with female vocals since it's a story between two characters. But I think that maybe Rihanna is not a good choice. But also, please wait until you listen to the song. Obviously the Oracle works with the band, so besides being a PR/marketing person he knows what they're doing, how the album sounds as a whole, etc... Just stop complaining so much before listening to the full album, I think that listening to individual songs won't help to understand the whole in this case...

wow, just wow.

what exactly do you expect from an official source? there'll be things the Oracle can answer and things she can't. she's hardly going to go around answering things which would spoil the surprises for the album release.

and as for saying the band is not aware of the concern, of course they are. We know that some of our members are officially from the Coldplay team.

When I read some of the comments written, I really feel for those people reading who know the band personally. There's nothing wrong with disliking something, and definitely nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but some of the comments on this board recently (whether about the band, the music, or other coldplaying members) have been downright nasty and vicious.

This. This. This.

I can't say I'm not guilty of it, because my initial reaction was anger and to lash out at the band, which is the wrong way to handle it. But I think more and more of what individuals are saying to one another is getting way out of hand.

@42rock89

I think it's not at all about not accepting the fact that Coldplay is changing and doing experiments, it's simply about not liking that change. That's all.

If 13,000 people jump off a bridge and 450 people don't, what would you do? Jump off a bridge as well because that's what the majority of people are doing? Surely the 450 people aren't rational by not jumping off as well!
The person wasn't talking about being rational. I think this metaphore is weird :S

The person was just saying that the oracle can surely have the same opinion as most coldplay fans seems to have. Those numbers were just illustrating that the majority overthere seems to like what Coldplay did.

Aye ^ Awful comparison unless it meant the other way around, 13,000 people + generally share the same opinion as the Oracle, while some of the other 450 are basicially like sheep, 'instead of not listening to Paradise since I dislike it, lets be Rebel's and mock Coldplay and seek attention haha'

^It has nothing to do with that at all.

Some of us don't like it and it has nothing to do with being rebels or following each other. I think the point is just because the vast majority of the general yhutoobz people like it doesn't mean the rest of us are wrong in disliking it.

maybe last time he was in vegas with jay z...

You know what i'm going to ask the oracle something, just a try.

Edit: I just asked the oracle something.

Actually the other way around makes even less sense ....

How is pressing the dislike button after hearing the song the same as mocking Coldplay and seeking attention?

i'm going to press the dislike button.

Who's with me :D

You deserve this

EDIT

Please refer to the announcement posted yesterday:

We do understand that the atmosphere can get rather tense when a new single is being released, however we will not tolerate any insulting and antagonising behaviour and will remove posts, that break forum rules, without further notice.

We appreciate discussion, but we will continue to monitor the tone of it.

There's no need for that middle finger :(

Stop being so rude please.

This just makes no sense at all!!!!:laugh3:

Mmm even if I don't agree with the oracle's point of view, we have to consider she's part of their team and her job is to promote them, it's not like she will tell us if she dislikes a song. Also she must have a sentimental connection with them, so she might be a bit blinded by that... or simply she likes the songs.

I think even those people who have written such comments are feeling it too. Even myself, and I was quite tame compared to other furores I've unleashed on here.

I don't agree that the Oracle is completely bullshit, but she's definitely nothing more than a marketing tool. She also seems to give out false information like 'the album hasn't been named yet' We know this isn't true because she's said more recently that the title was decided early on. She's also said that Mylo Xyloto isn't a made up language. Again, this completely contradicts what Chris has said about the name being made up from nothing. And frankly that agony aunt 'Team Oracle' crap has no place on a band website.

If you think the Oracle, who works for the band, is going to talk bad about their music, I guess you're wrong.
