Bass-heavy?

Featured Replies

Kill me if I'm wring or if you disagree, but is this song really bass-heavy, as reported when we first heard of the song?

Guy joins in late in the song, so ...

Yeah I know what you mean. Cant remember what review/interview this was in but they were wrong. Altho we haven't heard the studio version yet. It is hard to hear the bass/guitar in the ACL recording.

Maybe they mean Will's beat which is very prominent in the song. The definition of 'bass' is a low frequency sound. Will's beat has a low frequency so maybe that's what they mean. That's the only thing I can think of anyway, unless they confused it with another song they heard, like Paradise for example.

I think we can't hear all the instruments very well in that recording

I think you may be right. Will's drumbeat is really the only thing I can hear throughout the entire song (along with the chorus and a really fuzzy-sounding Jonny toward the end).

I think the contrast between the second and the third chorus (when Johnny joins in) is much bigger than we hear from the video we've heard. There is, for instance, much more contrast between the parts on Paradise (verse/chorus, for instance) on the studio version than when they perform it live.

In other words, maybe the last chorus is much more "bass-heavy" on the studio version. Btw, I agree with the thing about the drums too.

I wondered about the same thing... but after hearing the Live version, I can't wait for the studio version.

Probably the bass drum.

Maybe the album version is very different? I'd hope it is.

If the difference between the live version and studio version of "Paradise" is any indication, I'm sure it will be pretty different.

Roadie 42 said it's bass heavy and he has probably heard the studio version.
