October 10, 201114 yr The lyrics "The birds, they sang at break of day/Start again, I hear them say" pop up in Q magazines review of the album. Seeing as a writers credit to this track is towards Leonard Cohen, I've forever been thinking "What if it's hallelujah?". These lyrics fit to the melody line "I heard there was a broken chord/that david played and it pleased the lord". Do you think Coldplay have used Hallelujah as their sample? Sorry, this accidentally got posted in the DLIBYH sub forum. Ooops :S
October 10, 201114 yr Wow, I never thought of this... those words seem to fit that tune, you could well be right here! If it is true, I just hope its not a complete rip off of Hallelujah, but maybe like a small tribute to Cohen?
October 10, 201114 yr I don't think it samples Halleuja since the oracle said there are already too many covers and songs that sample it. I think it will be another Leonard Cohen song. I really love Halleluja BTW :)
October 10, 201114 yr Author Thats what i was hoping for :) I don't think it's a bad thing, just that just in case it turns out to be like it, then people don't rage saying there was no warning that it was coming :L
October 10, 201114 yr Samuel already posted in another thread, but the lyrics come from Cohen's song "Anthem".
October 10, 201114 yr I really doubt it. Hallelujah is the most over rated, over blown song ever. Those lyrics aren't Chris Martin's, they're Cohen's. They come from Anthem.
October 11, 201114 yr [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg6HKkedhyI]Leonard Cohen: Anthem - O2 Arena - YouTube[/ame] As amazing as the lyrics are, the song itself is pretty dull. Won't be that much of a difficulty for Coldplay to top that. :)
October 11, 201114 yr I hope that only a small portion of the lyrics are used from Anthem. I'd be pissed if they totally stole all the verses.
