Anyone up for doing a songs of the year thing? I don't think this board has ever really done this as far as I can remember, but I think it would be fun.

 

Rules:

1. Eligible songs must have been released between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of 2011.

2. You may list between 10 and 50 songs, which must be ranked numerically by the deadline.

3. The songs can come from any singles, albums, EPs, compilations, or soundtracks, as long as they are original work. No live songs or rereleases.

4. You can list more than one song per artist.

 

Deadline: January 8, 2012 at 11pm GMT.

 

I will tally up the votes and post the results soon after the deadline.

Actually, Briggins tried to start something like this last year, but it never really happened because no one was really doing it.

 

I'm not so sure if I personally will participate. I have a hard enough time making my AOTY list. Like John said, SOTY lists are so much more complicated. :bomb:

I already have a playlist in iTunes that has my favorite songs this year, so I'd just have to put those in order. But near the top would be Holocene, Grown Ocean, Spectrum, One Sunday Morning, All and Everyone, Whirring, Jejune Stars, Midnight City, Codex, and Think You Can Wait, among others.

 

So yeah, in favor of trying this idea again this year.

I've added in some rules and a deadline. If anyone has any objections to them or thinks I should add anything else, feel free to say so.

Just because the limit is 50 doesn't mean you have to list that many.
