Chris' Old Guitar

Okay, so I decided to get a better view that didn't have Chris bouncing around. Screen cap:

After inspecting the details of Spare 1 (Lot 43), I think you're right. All the painting lines up properly, and that big chunk of paint missing at the base next to the plug area is still missing (you can see it just under his arm). If you pause the video just right in different spots between 0:02-0:10, you can get a better view (actually, I think it's some of the wood that's missing, not just the paint).

Hey maybe Chris was the one that bought it! Maybe he loved it too much, and he just couldn't bare to part with it!

You have a good question and I think you should ask the Oracle about it. It would actually be good timing, considering this is the 2-year mark of the auction right now.

Haha yes indeed, I'm going to ask the Oracle right now, thought didn't cross my mind:P It would be very thoughtfull of him to buy it himself and give the money to a charity.

I really want to know the answer! :stunned:

what does " No me llores" ??

what does " No me llores" ??

It's Spanish for I do not cry

thank you =)

Interesting... :inquisitive:

Definitely the same guitar. Maybe he borrowed it.

I'm almost in this video. Should have taken one step to the left.

They are actually holding a different guitar, although with almost the same design, in the bottom picture: (non painted headstock with black instead of brown and white at the bottom and top of the body)

Maybe they sold that one?

I do vaguely remember a discussion about it in the EODCS thread

maybe he hasn't just one..?

There was more than one with the same design, although there were tiny differences

Unpainted headstock with the white bit at the bottom of the body:

Have a look at the position of the LL in LLores

The one with the painted headstock also doesn't have white between the sound hole and the bridge

^They just sold one and kept the one pictured in the video :)

^^ Okay that could be the answer. For a second I thought Chris had stolen someone's guitar.

thank you =)

Actually it means "Don't cry to me"

If I remember correctly, when the auctions were going, there were two Gibson's Chris used that were painted almost the same, and one was pictured in the End of The Decade Sale catalog and the other one was pictured in the photos shown in the actual eBay listing. Because I remember that one was used/seen a lot in photos and videos, and the other one not so much... and I was wondering which one was the one actually being auctioned - the one in the PDF catalog or the one in the eBay listing.

So here are two of the pics I was looking at at the time - you can see the differences:

So given that he is using one now, it is likely the other was sold at the auction...

Jason

Actually, the two photos in the auction catalog show the two different guitars as well...

"No me llores" means "Don't cry to me", because "I don't cry" means "Yo no lloro" in spanish:)

I don't speak Spanish so I used Google translate. The translation given is I do not cry :)

Okay so this explains everything:) They just have 2 same guitars with the nearly the same painting.

"No me llores" means "Don't cry to me", because "I don't cry" means "Yo no lloro" in spanish:)

I had always though it meant "Don't cry for me"...? Which adds a different level of depth for me. Funny fow such slight interpretations can make such a difference in the tone and meaning of the message.
