Both Muse and Coldplay will play at the Olympics opening ceremonies. Me = perfectly happy :)

How do you know? Any sources? Could it be taped? I really don't know what's going on? I don't see Coldplay passing up a chance to perform at the Olympics opening ceremonies in their own country, and I don't see them not being invited.

Ah, it looks like he was telling the truth! Opening ceremonies are July 27; they will be in Montreal that day.
that means they won't be performing at the opening ceremonies

I saw it, and it made me happy! Nothing like Coldplay to soothe my injured ears after that Madonna fiasco...:laugh3:

I heard Talk during the pregame commentary as well. It was a Coldplay night indeed, lol. Annd.. just for the hell of it because I'm happy. NEW YORK. <3

Just coming in to post that... I heard Talk as they were showing the guy's doing stretches on the field before the game:D

imagine if they would perform at the opening ceremony and everyone in the stadium had xylobands :smug: it would be AMAZING

THIS.

I saw the commercial and immediately imagined it.

And just before I heard Jonny's solo from "Talk" on the SB coverage!

Oh I saw your post alright. We've debated this before, so I know where they're scheduled to be on opening day. I'm just saying it doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't they want to be at the Olympics? What really happened?

yes um i'm thinking about sueing maadonna for raping my ears

The whole time I was thinking, Coldplay would have rocked this place big time with Viva, CB, and Paradise. Oh well!

Bitchez b jealous. Madonna gurl was fierce and fabulous. :phu:

LOL jk. She was fake & gay.

Oh good! I was already eager to start a quarrel if you weren't kidding!

I was serious actually. :| TAKE A BOW FOR YOUR EMPRESS! :snobby:

On a more serious note, The ColdPlay should totally do the halftime show.

They have yet to achieve the Beatles-like popularity over the Atlantic. That could help a lot.

I could agree on the latter, but not on the former. I just can't stand Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga or any of those shite dickhead-chicks...

Maybe we can start a petition for next year? I know it's an American thing but the Stones rocked 1 yr, and I'm sure they've been other foreign performers as well.

Umm I don't think we can make any difference. It's their decision.

But they're a really good choice, sports teams relatively often use their songs to celebrate victories etc. (Viva, Paradise,...)

As for the Olympics, the fact that they have a show booked that day doesn't mean that it's a definitive no.

They could reschedule it or maybe even perform at both places. (Not really.)

BTW, weren't they supposed to perform at Abu Dhabi for New Year's eve, but they perfomed at Austin the same day?

What's the deal with that? I suppose Austin was maybe pre-recorded?

Austin was pre-recorded, Abu Dhabi was live.

I didn't hear the commercial, but I heard it on the radio for the first time a couple of hours ago!:D

My instinct never fails me. :charming:

I'm still hoping against hope. Who the hell is in charge of the Olympics in the UK and doesn't beg the biggest band in the world who happen to be Brit to be front and center at the Opening ceremonies? Coldplay have been the best Brit ambassadors all over the world. Oh well! We shall see!

Where have I read this (on this forum?) that the people in charge of the Olympics entertainment (or whatever) sector are planing something like a mini festival with the surviving members of legendary rock groups reuniting and performing.

Cite: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney were mentioned in that article. :dead:

Oh, and the Spice Girl. :D And the Empress (Madonna).

The Olympics book and plan their ceremonies years ahead, so if they were going to book Coldplay, the band would not have booked the two gigs surrounding that date. They could still do it, but they'd have to fly to England, do the gig and fly back to...Texas, I think. That's way more exhaustion than they're likely to be willing to deal with.

If you look at the tour schedule, they're giving themselves 12-14 straight day off each month, so o they look to be really valuing their down time more than ever. I wouldn't hold out much hope for the Olympics.

I know, I know. Yet I keep hope alive.:) They could easily reschedule 1 of those gigs if they had to.

Yup, Gwynnie said in a recent interview that the guys will be spending at least 10 days at home after 3 weeks of touring. It's a family friendly schedule.:)

^Yeah, it's nice to see that. They usually knock themselves out on tour, so this will be a lot easier on them and their families.

Thing is, like I said, those opening ceremonies are most likely already planed down to the last detail, and Coldplay would have got the invite by now.

But I could be wrong, and if I am I'll eat my hat...as long as it's made of cake!:D
