February 17, 201214 yr Actually I often get the opposite. They're like: "I love that song (paradise) ! I can't stop listening to it!" So I say: "Oh really ? You know I'm a huge Coldplay fan" And they're like: "Coldplay...this is for when you're sad...I mean I like that song but you know...not a fan or anything" :|:uhoh: *AWKWARD* So that proves Coldplay will never be cool. And that people can't admit the diversity in Coldplay's discography, also. I agree with you on that. So I think CP is still not cool either, but you know there are sooo many people who just like music because it's successful at the moment.
February 17, 201214 yr I've been a proud Coldplay fan for 10 years now, and it's never been cool to like them. I've been made fun of by everyone from my brother to my best friend. I have a Coldplay bumper sticker on my car, I wear Coldplay shirts everywhere, and I hope they never become too "mainstream". I think part of the fun of being a Coldplay fan is having to defend how awesome they truly are. It's a kick-ass challenge. My way of looking at it, all those people who hate on them don't know what they are missing. So no, I still don't think it's cool to like them, and I'm perfectly fine with that. :)

February 17, 201214 yr ^^ Even better, you could say "I love them too, what is your favourite song from A Rush Of Blood To The Head?" or "What is your favourite B-Side?" And see their reaction ;) I bet they'd be really confused :laugh3: Forget confused, they'd look at you as if you'd spontaneously grown a third arm
February 18, 201214 yr Now I see a lot of haters, who listen "true alternative music", and say that coldplay is now mainstream, because of for example Paradise video.
February 19, 201214 yr Now I see a lot of haters, who listen "true alternative music", and say that coldplay is now mainstream, because of for example Paradise video. And before Paradise, they weren't mainstream...?
February 19, 201214 yr Nope. I get crap for liking Coldplay all the time but I don't really care. The people I know that hate on it are usually shallow jerks anyway. Not to make a generalization of non-fans but really anyone who judges you by the music you listen to is a shallow jerk.
February 19, 201214 yr Coldplay are cool depending on who it is you ask. I know a lot of people who like them, but I still get the "you know how I know you're gay?" question. To be honest, I don't care if they're ever considered cool or not because I like the music and someone not liking them doesn't bother me. After all, opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one!
February 19, 201214 yr I think this has been true for a long time, the phenomenon of a musical group being 'uncool' which, when they achieve a level of popularity because they songs are great and true to heart, suddenly they are seen as 'cool' and hip and all that. If by comparison, one looks at the Beatles and how they began following Buddy Holly & the Crickets and Elvis and the great blues artists, their strain of music was much more gentle and sensitive from the start, and it gradually evolved as well. At the same time there were the 'cool' groups - groups with an edge - The Animals, the Rolling Stones, and many more. So taken from that perspective, they fit into a more human stream of music, which will never be "cool", but comes from the gentle heart, from more compassionate yearnings.
February 20, 201214 yr Forget confused, they'd look at you as if you'd spontaneously grown a third arm
February 20, 201214 yr Why would anyone stick a gay label with Coldplay? o___o Because Coldplay is slightly effeminate.
February 20, 201214 yr Why would anyone stick a gay label with Coldplay? o___o I believe it's a joke from the movie "The 40 Year Old Virgin." It's actually a pretty funny movie...the joke just gets annoying after awhile to us CP fans...
February 20, 201214 yr No doubt Coldplay is cool, if people want to keep making fun of Coldplay. They will have to answer to me and coolness isn't really defined by the masses, it's defined by the cool.
February 21, 201214 yr Why would anyone stick a gay label with Coldplay? o___o I don't know if you're familiar with this, I wasn't before I joined this site, but one word - Buckin. :wink3: :D
