Wyrd
Strange, I didn't see her post weird stuff. Too bad! (not about the banning, but about ^ not having his original partner to do the reviewing) btw, that Wild Beasts song, the review said A man with a deep voice is singing, something joined by a woman. That high voice is not a woman but the singer! He is known to sing really high ánd low, in this live clip of the song you can see/hear he sings it: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXDwiWNy11E]Wild Beasts - Two Dancers II (live @ Paradiso) - YouTube[/ame] Pretty amazing, by the way. djibou
My original partner is now banned  :wtf: what even omg, I think it's a first that a mixtape exchange participant is ever banned while the exchange is going on. pfft. edit: apparently she made another account and asked for this one to be deleted! Wyrd
If you don't mind I can also post a summary of which tapes have been reviewed by who and links and tracklisting. Maybe it will encourage some people to do a review/tracklisting if they haven't done so yet.Shall I? Or is this never done?

Violet
^ You need to remove Cheese Nip's name from the "didn't get reviewed" list. I reviewed his tape; you have it in the second round section. Anyway, if there needs to be another review done, I can make time to do that. It's not a problem.
Deirdre
Here I am with my review! Sorry, it took me longer than expected! 01. It begins with an acapella of the male singer who has a special voice, I don’t know how to describe it but I like it. I feel that I have already heard his voice. It reminds me of Radical Face [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8a4iiOnzsc]Radical Face[/ame] as well as the music style which is folk to me. I recognize guitar, banjo, tambourine, harp, piano, drums. I like the bluesy guitar sound which appears at some points during the song. 02. Gotye with Eyes Wide Open. I think lots of people around the world have heard his hit ‘Somebody that I used to know’! I like the bluesy guitar sound and the mix with electro-ish sounds and rhythm instrument (I don’t know if it’s a drums or something else) is pleasant to my ears! There are also nice choirs like in ‘Somebody that I used to know’. 03. It’s a folk song to me. The banjo stands out to me and gives a bit of country vibe to the track. I also recognize guitar, drums, hands clapping. The singer is a male. The instrumental bridges are great to my ears! I feel there are also some electro-ish sounds in this track. 04. It’s a punk-rock ballad to me. The male singer has also the kind of voice associate with this style of music and I have the impression his has an accent but I can’t tell from where. I recognize guitar, drums, piano and also another instrument that I can't describe. 05. It’s an electro-ambiant track to me, it’s airy. The singer is a man. It reminds me of Porcelain Raft [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kokcU_RfxQQ]Porcelain Raft[/ame] 06. It’s an indie song to me. The singer is a man and sings quite fast at some points in the track, he is also joined by another man at some points. There are guitars, drums, hands clapping. The drums seem like tribal sounds to me. 07. It’s a folk-rock song to me. It reminds me of Arcade Fire’s music style. There are guitars, drums, violins. The singer is a man. Towards the middle of the song, the singer is joined by someone but I’m not sure if it’s a man or a woman. Then, there is an instrumental break which I really like. Then, the singing begins again. 08. It’s an electro-pop track to me. A man is singing, his voice seems familiar to me. 09. It’s a ballad with piano, percussion and violins. A man is singing. It’s a relaxing song, the voice is very pleasant. 10. It’s a irish/scottish punk-rock song to me. The bagpipes and violins stand out to me. It’s a bit like Dropkick Murphys’ music style but less in your face. At a moment, there is a choir singing with the singer, who is a male. His voice is typical of punk music and in the verses he is not really singing but talking/singing (that's the best way I can describe it). 11. It’s an electro-indus song to me. A man is singing, his voice is distorted/modified. I think I already have heard this song somewhere! 12. It’s a indie ballad to me with sounds from Eastern Europe countries with the violins, which stand out to me. A man is singing. This song has various levels in the music, melody, which is interesting… I’m bad at explaining that! I hope you see what I mean! 13. I really like this song: How deep is your love? by The Rapture. It’s an electro-pop-rock song to describe it roughly. The singer is a male. 14. A calm song, the male singer has a lovely deep, whispery voice. It’s an acoustic song with banjo, guitar, percussion (drums used with brushes -like in jazzy songs- for the most part and tambourine). The ‘ouh ouh’ singing, I don’t know how it's called, is pretty nice. 15. It’s an electro-pop track to me. A man is singing. All along the song there is samba, Rio carnival music but it’s like a cover (the same music with other instruments), if I can say so. And, at the end, there is the actual samba, Rio carnival music. A song that make you dance and I did on my chair :D This would have be a great track to finish the mixtape. 16. It’s a rock ballad to me. A man is singing, he has an original voice. I recognize guitar, piano, drums. Obviously, there must be bass in most of the songs but I have trouble recognize the sound of it unless it is obvious. I had a great time listening to this mixtape even though it wasn’t made for me. I'm going to save it on my music library! I found that it flows well. I only recognized two songs out of 16. My favourite songs are numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 13. Was the ‘theme’ of your mixtape, only male singers or is it just a coincidence?
djibou
Ahhh Deirdre, thank you for the review! Comments will be in red in the spoiler! :D Here I am with my review! Sorry, it took me longer than expected! 01. It begins with an acapella of the male singer who has a special voice, I don’t know how to describe it but I like it. I feel that I have already heard his voice. It reminds me of Radical Face as well as the music style which is folk to me. I recognize guitar, banjo, tambourine, harp, piano, drums. I like the bluesy guitar sound which appears at some points during the song. James Vincent McMorrow! I'm glad you like the song, there is another one in the mixtape from him. This one is called If I Had A Boat. Ahh see, I put this one exactly to make my partner (whoever they might be) that Gotye has some talent, and isn't just a one hit wonder! Glad you like! 03. It’s a folk song to me. The banjo stands out to me and gives a bit of country vibe to the track. I also recognize guitar, drums, hands clapping. The singer is a male. The instrumental bridges are great to my ears! I feel there are also some electro-ish sounds in this track. Ahh The Antlers. I had a hard time picking a song by them, but I was very obsessed with this one back when i made the mixtape. 04. It’s a punk-rock ballad to me. The male singer has also the kind of voice associate with this style of music and I have the impression his has an accent but I can’t tell from where. I recognize guitar, drums, piano and also another instrument that I can't describe. Hehe the accent is English, his is pretty thick, actually. My favourite off Frank Turner's latest album. 05. It’s an electro-ambiant track to me, it’s airy. The singer is a man. It reminds me of Porcelain Raft Ahhhh I LOVE Porcelain Raft. That's a song called New Theory by washed Out. 06. It’s an indie song to me. The singer is a man and sings quite fast at some points in the track, he is also joined by another man at some points. There are guitars, drums, hands clapping. The drums seem like tribal sounds to me. Ahh you are right about the drums, the band is called Half Moon Run, and I saw them live last weekend, and they used a lot of percussions in their songs. Heh! well this band is called Hey Rosetta! and just like Arcade Fire, they're Canadian. I guess Canadian music does have some similarity on the indie scene. 08. It’s an electro-pop track to me. A man is singing, his voice seems familiar to me. LCD Soundsystem. Maybe you've heard their stuff before, or James Murphy's stuff. 09. It’s a ballad with piano, percussion and violins. A man is singing. It’s a relaxing song, the voice is very pleasant. Ahh don't laugh but I found this song in the Breaking Dawn soundtrack. This one just stood out like a very romantic song. Los Campesinos! I love the sarcasm in their songs and how honest their music is. 11. It’s an electro-indus song to me. A man is singing, his voice is distorted/modified. I think I already have heard this song somewhere! M83! You might have heard their hit Midnight City. This is my second favourite song by them, it's called Steve McQueen. 12. It’s a indie ballad to me with sounds from Eastern Europe countries with the violins, which stand out to me. A man is singing. This song has various levels in the music, melody, which is interesting… I’m bad at explaining that! I hope you see what I mean! Andrew Bird  I'm glad you pointed out the various levels in the music, that's what makes this song so great, imo. 13. I really like this song: How deep is your love? by The Rapture. It’s an electro-pop-rock song to describe it roughly. The singer is a male. :D I'm glad you like! James Vincent McMorrow strikes again  15. Ugh okay, I was hesitating to finish the mixtape with this one, but I just couldn't let the 16th track out, because I love it so much and okay, I agree with you :( anyway, I'm glad you like the song it's by a band called Friendly Fires. 16. It’s a rock ballad to me. A man is singing, he has an original voice. I recognize guitar, piano, drums. Thirteen Senses - Into The Fire  Obviously, there must be bass in most of the songs but I have trouble recognize the sound of it unless it is obvious. I'm glad you enjoyed it even though it wasn't made for you! And I did not go for any particular theme, it was a complete coincidence if all the singers are male. In general, I mostly listen to music with male singers, apart from Metric, Lana Del Rey, Flo + The Machine, The xx and probably a few more. Thank you for the review :D Tracklisting: 1. If I Had A Boat - James Vincent McMorrow 2. Eyes Wide Open - Gotye 3. Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out - The Antlers 4. I Am Disappeared - Frank Turner 5. New Theory - Washed Out 6. Full Circle - Half Moon Run 7. I've Been Asleep For a Long, Long Time - Hey Rosetta! 8. I Can Change - LCD Soundsystem 9. Turning Page - Sleeping At Last 10. We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed - Los Campesinos 11. Steve McQueen - M83 12. Anonanimal - Andrew Bird 13. How Deep Is Your Love? - The Rapture 14. Down the Burning Ropes - James Vincent McMorrow 15. Jump In the Pool - Friendly Fires 16. Into The Fire - Thirteen Senses Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?s1w8bao8no76gby

Ahh see, I put this one exactly to make my partner (whoever they might be) that Gotye has some talent, and isn't just a one hit wonder! Glad you like! Another one that I like from him is 'Hearts a Mess'! Just to add one more for people to discover Gotye's world! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkYfHxW9zZU]Hearts a Mess[/ame] 05. It’s an electro-ambiant track to me, it’s airy. The singer is a man. It reminds me of Porcelain Raft Porcelain Raft Ahhhh I LOVE Porcelain Raft. That's a song called New Theory by washed Out. By re-naming your songs with the correct information in my music library, I noticed that I had another song from Washed Out called 'Echoes'. It was on the mixtape an-angel made for me. It's different, I didn't made the connexion by listening to 'New Theory'. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkV-loGS-eI]Echoes[/ame] 07. Heh! well this band is called Hey Rosetta! and just like Arcade Fire, they're Canadian. I guess Canadian music does have some similarity on the indie scene. I don't know if all indie Canadian bands have similarities with Arcade Fire, I don't know a lot of Canadian bands! 08. It’s an electro-pop track to me. A man is singing, his voice seems familiar to me. LCD Soundsystem. Maybe you've heard their stuff before, or James Murphy's stuff. I probably have heard the album the song is from, once on Spotify, and it left some memories in my brain! 09. It’s a ballad with piano, percussion and violins. A man is singing. It’s a relaxing song, the voice is very pleasant. Ahh don't laugh but I found this song in the Breaking Dawn soundtrack. This one just stood out like a very romantic song. I didn't laugh, I didn't even know what movie 'Breaking Dawn' was, I had to google it! 11. It’s an electro-indus song to me. A man is singing, his voice is distorted/modified. I think I already have heard this song somewhere! M83! You might have heard their hit Midnight City. This is my second favourite song by them, it's called Steve McQueen. I have listened to their album on Spotify, so that's why it reminded me something! 15. It’s an electro-pop track to me. A man is singing. All along the song there is samba, Rio carnival music but it’s like a cover (the same music with other instruments), if I can say so. And, at the end, there is the actual samba, Rio carnival music. A song that make you dance and I did on my chair This would have be a great track to finish the mixtape. Ugh okay, I was hesitating to finish the mixtape with this one, but I just couldn't let the 16th track out, because I love it so much and okay, I agree with you anyway, I'm glad you like the song it's by a band called Friendly Fires. I understand that, I struggled with that too when I made my mixtapes! Thank you for answering my question about the theme or not in your mixtape and I also listen to music with male singers most of the time! I will check out more songs from the artists I liked on your mixtape: Spotify, here I come! Edit: there is a problem with the smilies for me, so I remplaced them by exclamation points/marks. Reviews by ukklala doritji Viki mariagborud an angel and tapes made by these didn't get reviewing: Mrk djibou The Final Track (Paulacp) I reviewed djibou's mixtape in the previous page ;) So, the mixtapes from Mrk and The Final Track are the two last to be reviewed. Maybe, djibou can send a message to the people who were volunteers to review their tapes? And, if there is no answers, maybe other volunteers will do it?
