Jenjie
Fans walked out of the Manchester Arena after rock giants Guns N' Roses kept them waiting for over an hour last night. The US rockers were due on at around 10pm but didn't take the stage until around 11.15pm, by which time some members of the audience had given up waiting. Axl Rose and crew then played a three-hour set that went on until 2.15am, including hits Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine and Patience. MEN reviewer Dianne Bourne said she estimated around 40 per cent of the audience had left the Arena by the time the final track was played. She tweeted: "no explanation, not even a wry comment from Axl! I'd say 60 per cent of us were left at the bitter, 2.15am end." Read Dianne Bourne's review of the concert here Concert acts at the Arena are asked to end the show by 11pm to allow fans time to catch the last night trains out of central Manchester. The band has a reputation for flouting venue rules, and turned up on stage 90 minutes late for a concert at the Arena in October 2010. However, with the Arena the band took it to another level last night by starting the show AFTER the time they were supposed to finish. Matt Ward, spokesperson for the Manchester Arena said: “The Manchester Arena holds a 24 hour entertainment licence. However, to tie in with local transport links, we always ask that shows finish by 11.00pm. “The majority of acts comply with this request, however Guns N’ Roses have a well-publicised history of late performances of which their fans are fully aware. “Although last night’s late finish unfortunately meant a number of fans had to leave before the end, the three-hour performance delighted the majority of the Manchester crowd. “Despite this, we have received complaints from a number of ticketholders and we will be passing these on to the band’s promoter AEG Live to answer.” http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/tv_and_showbiz/s/1550363_fans-walk-out-of-manchester-arena-as-guns-n-roses-gig-goes-on-until-215am

juanif94
That's nothing, I went to see them in Montevideo, Uruguay, and they were on stage at 1 am and the concert finished at 4 am. We arrived at the stadium where they were playing at 8 pm. You can imagine the complaints of the people who live near the stadium.

NumbersGirl
These venues don't have "curfews"? Around here (at least at any place I've been to), I think the sound system gets cut off at midnight even if they're not done. That acutally happened last year at a festival in Detroit when Flying Lotus was playing. He said, "I'm just going to keep playing until they shut off the sound." Sure enough, at midnight... speakers were cut.
