Mount Kimbie Announce New LP

Just before they go on tour with Holy Other, London duo Mount Kimbie will release their new album. Cold Spring Fault Less Youth is out May 28 via Warp. Daft Punk Confirm Julian Casablancas, Panda Bear, Pharrell, More Collaborations With Coachella Video

Tonight's biggest news so far to come out of Coachella didn't have to do with anyone actually playing the festival. It was a trailer for Daft Punk's new album, Random Access Memories, broadcast on festival screens. The video confirmed that Random Access Memories will indeed have a star-studded list of collaborators: the Strokes' Julian Casablancas, Animal Collective's Panda Bear, Pharrell, Paul Williams, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Chilly Gonzales, DJ Falcon, and Todd Edwards.

Thundercat Announces New Album Executive Produced by Flying Lotus

Bassist extraordinaire Stephen Bruner, aka Thundercat, has announced the follow-up to his great 2011 album The Golden Age of Apocalypse. The new one is simply titled Apocalypse, and it's out July 9 via Brainfeeder (and July 8 in Europe). The album was executive produced by Brainfeeder head honcho Flying Lotus, who co-wrote and co-produced "Heartbreaks + Setbacks" (above) with Bruner and Mono/Poly.

Boards of Canada Released a Mysterious 12" on Record Store Day

While people were lined up around the block at record stores across the country, at least one lucky person got their hands on a very surprising release: A 12" featuring a snippet of music from Boards of Canada. We've confirmed that it was a legit Warp release.

The cover of the 12" features this text: "------ / ------ / ------ / XXXXXX / ------ / ------". This led Reddit users to speculate that this was one of six releases which, when combined, would solve some sort of puzzle (or complete the sound clip-- the snippet is bookended by empty space). The snippet from the release in the video below features the numbers "9-3-6-5-5-7" recited in a robotic voice.

It looks like two more Boards of Canada clips from their extremely limited batch of mysterious Record Store Day releases have surfaced. This time, they were aired on different radio shows. Zane Lowe played the above snippet during his BBC Radio 1 show (via FACT). It features the numbers "5-1-9-2-2-5". Meanwhile, the NPR show "All Songs Considered" ended their show with "a mystery". It's another clip, this one featuring the numbers "6-9-9-7-4-2". But what does it all mean?

The above led to two private Soundcloud links (here and here) on what looks like an official BoC’s account, both of which feature music buried under distortion. When combined, the tracks resemble the snippets already dug up across the world so far, and include a new number 628315. Pasting the code from “GIF89a” onwards into a hex editor reveals this image, which confirms the placement of the number.

Boards of Canada Commercial Airs on Cartoon Network

To date, all of Boards of Canada's mysterious puzzle pieces have only been released in audio form. But last night during Cartoon Network's Toonami block, they aired a 90-second commercial. (This was confirmed as legit by the network's Jason DeMarco.) Their longest reveal yet delivered the same numbers that were aired on NPR's "All Songs Considered", "699742". The ad also revealed that they belong at the beginning of the code sequence, which now looks like this: 699742 / 628315 / 717228 / 936557 / —— / 519225.
