Daft Punk Set to Release New Material in 2013, Says Nile Rodgers

On Friday, Rodgers uploaded a post onto his personal blog hinting that the collaboration would see the light of day before the year is out. The post sees Rodgers describe his long-held affection for Japan, intimate that he’ll back in the country before the end of the year, and, crucially, claim that “the next time I set foot in Japan, my collaboration with Daft Punk would have started to hit people’s eardrums”. In his words: “2013 Won’t Be Boring!”

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs took to Twitter to update fans on the status of their new record: “DNA upgrades, spontaneous evolution and NEW YEAH YEAH YEAHS RECORD ARRIVING SPRING 2013! finally.”

 

No other details are known about the album at this time, but Spin reports that the band premiered a new song entitled ‘Despair’ at a Hurricane Sandy relief benefit last week, saying that the song is “a spare thumper that recalled Florence and the Machine’s ‘Dog Days Are Over’
