What would you ask Coldplay in an interview?

  1. Is Buckin real? :surprised:
  2. Is Buckin real? :surprised:
  3. Chris, we all know Buckin is real, prove that it isn't. :snobby:
  4. Chris, why do you like the flowery shirt so much? :|
  5. [off record] Would you like to have sex with me in the alley after this interviews is over? :charming:

I'm kinda kidding with those questions. :anxious:

Are there any specific, non-generic questions you would ask the band or a member? Like, about the inspiration for and the genesis of a song or an album or something else that no one ever asked them? I often come up with quite original questions and I wonder why don't big fans interview bands, they would ask much more interesting questions than a casual reporter.

The Howard Stern interview was the most insightful one I've ever watched. Probably because it was long and laid back and really funny/awkward at times but it also provided many little answers about a lot of songs.

I personally would love to spend time with bands in the studio as a fan and/or journalist and watch the creative process. But I understand how that may be very intrusive and contra-productive for many bands including Coldplay.

Me: How many fingers am I holding up?

Chris: Six.

Me: Yes, you're right. Six.

Chris: What's "6" have to do with this interview?

Me: What does "M.I.I.X." have to do with the song itself?

Chris: What's the point of this fuckin' interview? Tell me what "6" means.

Me: Look, dammit, what's the name of your sixth album?!

Chris: My sixth album? Um... I haven't even released my first solo record.

Me: *facepalms*

I am fascinated by creative minds and artistic people. I'd ask Chris:

"Have you ever suffered from writer's block where you feel pressured to write something new and it's not happening or do you always have ideas for songs in your head?"

Being the fan of concept albums and rock operas, I would ask Chris-

"Was Mylo Xyloto purely the product of Mark Osborne's imagination, or did him and the band have similar ideas?"

"How would you think the album would have gone if it was released as the double album it was concieved originally?"

"The idea of Silencia, Major Minus, the Hypnofeed, Mylo, Xyloto, The Car Kids, the whole sound and colour thing and the orwellian society theme - where did it all come from?"

"Do you have any plans to continue the Mylo Xyloto story or to create another concept album from scratch?"

"Working on Mylo Xyloto, do you feel that the album was harder to create, given the whole concept album thing?"

"Do you feel, like many other artists, that the concept album is being misunderstood by today's music critics and fans, given concept albums these days usually get lower recognition and poorer reviews? Should the concept album be more respected like in the days of The Who's Tommy and Pink Floyd's The Wall?

"How do you think Mylo Xyloto compares to other modern concept albums like Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns, My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade or Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown?"

"Does Mark Osborne feel that you guys have executed Mylo Xyloto well?"

"Will you work with Mark Osborne again?"

(and as a joke question..) "Do you think people like Roger Waters, Pete Townshend and Gerard Way approve of Mylo Xyloto?"

Well no wonder he got pissed, that's a pretty cryptic way of asking for the title of the next album.

this looks ~professional~

but i'd use the term concept album loosely in the 21st century

and mx is not that cerebral so it should not be treated too seriously

it's mostly cute and dumb

like christ the martins

i am too

X&Y?

they've showed their dislike for that era

i like it but its lyrics are mostly way too generic

1. (To Jonny,Will and Guy) Did you watch films with Gwyneth when she wasn't dating Chris yet and If you did do you still do this or is it too much awkward ?

2. Why are you obsessed about Car Kids written everywhere?

3. How do you come up with song names when they aren't a part of lyric?

4. Chris how many t-shirts do you own?

5. Why is that flowery one your favourite?

6. Who famous do you dream to meat?

7. How do you feel about crazy fans who for example get naked at your gig ?

8. What was the nicest thing that you ever got from a fan/fans ?

9. What is the best part of your work ?

i didn't even answer this thread

i'd ask them a bunch of nerdy music/production-related questions which i can't remember now (or put to words without sound) that i come up with while listening to songs.

i'm not a musician but music making is getting increasingly interesting to me so i'm thinking of learning to play an instrument. also i'm interested in playing with drum machines and samplers, this type of thing so a majority of questions to musicians would be directed to that, and watching them work as an opportunity to learn

of course, coming up with your own songs is infinitely more difficult
