Smart money would be on Bowie, but I would put a £1 on Laura Mvula to be a surprise winner, you know what the mercury judges are like...

Yeah, they'd probably rule Bowie out just because it would be too much of an obvious choice, sadly. I'm undecided between Jon Hopkins and Rudimental now.

You think they'd get enough from the sponsors to cover costs. Obviously these things cost money to organise and stage but surely they can generate enough funds from sources outside the actual artists? The award is well known enough.
