mayurshikotra
I was listening to Up In flames just now and thought about the whole Chris and Gwyneth separation and thought that when he wrote this it kind of marked the beginning of the end to their relationship. Looking at the lyrics its just something I thought (Obviously prob wrong)
jc90
Legitimacy of that theory aside, I think you can find a connection in any song's lyrics to the separation if you look hard enough. That doesn't mean they're true. Example, I can say Politik has to do with the breakup when he sings "give me strength, reserve control, give me heart and give me soul, give me love, give us a kiss, tell me your own politik" and "give me love over this" as a way to say I wanna get over this breakup and move on. Obviously, this was written back when they were happily together so there is no connection. But if your mind is set to dig out these connections, you're gonna find them. In other words, your mind/eyes see what they want to see not necessarily what is actually there.
4cat
IDK though they did say they were trying for years to fix their marriage. I think it could be true that this was about her. It would be the right time frame but who knows.

I'm fairly certain they met on the Rush of Blood tour, so this would have been written before they had even met. I actually saw the first signs of a breakup in Christmas Lights. gai
I read somewhere that chris dedicated up in flames to gwyneth in one of the shows in 2011. also remember that this was the last song written for MX at the very last minute.

Prospector
I do think Up In Flames is the song that leads from MX to GS, both the sound and lyrical content have a lot to do with the new album, it has been said they were working on things for a while alredy, trying to make the marrige work, so I think your theory could be kind of right, really. Famous Old Painter
Chris probably was going through a breakup when he wrote AROBTTH. It had nothing whatsoever to do with Gwenyth though. I'd always thought the lyrical content of Up In Flames was odd coming from a happily married man. Maybe this is why.
