Hey guyss about 2 or 3 months ago my brother introduced me to this song called Homecoming by Kanye West and then he played it and I was like wow the piano is so good and to my surprise it was Chris Martin playing in the background and I was really confused why nobody had been talking about the song or why is not he getting recognition for it. He doesn't say much in it but I honestly only listen to it for Chris's part and I always wish if his part were one whole song [emoji23] So yeah if you don't already know it please listen to it and tell me your opinions and if you want comment "Coldplaying brought me here" on the Youtube video. My money is on Chris creating his own parts after Kanye came to him with the rough chorus progression and such. Much like the way Guy came to Chris with the bass part to Magic, and Chris filled in the gaps and finished the song off.

Same here, I don't really know but on Wikipedia he was listed in the writers and producers so maybe he is. I don't know them but i'll check them out soon since I have an exam in less than 2 hours [emoji23]

Ik that but i mean like X&Y and other really old stuff still gets recognition till now, i thought it might be that it was only chris not the whole band, and when I read about the song on wikipedia it was mentioned that it was supposed to be released as the last song in Kanye's album but since the downloads dropped before that, the release was cancelled but was still released as vinyl single in the uk , so i guess that's the reason

In hindsight, I think Homecoming was what got me into Kanye West a few years ago. The hook is great, but damn Kanye had some great imagery with this song.

Chris doesn't play the piano part live in the handful of performances he's been a part of. But maybe he did write it. The piano seems too integral to the original beat so it's quite possible Chris was only asked to sing. I don't know though. Love the song!

When you compare it to the original version of this song by Kanye West (released years ago and featuring another singer, available on Youtube), this sounds hugely different, and the piano part is definitely new, so who knows if it is not by Chris ?

Whenever I think of this song, I remember the disaster of a performance Chris had when he performed it with 'Uncle J' and 'Yezzy'. Would post the youtube here, but i'm at work. If anyone wants to try, it was a new years thing J was running iirc, and Chris was seemingly drunk and totally missed timing of the song, I think he added an extra bar or something to each chorus he sang.

Must be this: (unless there are several New years parties at which he performed drunk, didn't check all of them on YT but this one fitted...)
