im not blinded by the bend , i grow up listening to U2 and Michael jackson .. I'm really in love with U2 musics and my favorite song of all time is bad from them so yeah my mind is open wide to the other genres :D

I agree that of course there is some degree of consensus about certain albums or artists being classics (though critics often disagree with the public and vice versa. They overlap ever so rarely). But even that consensus is subject to a society time and culture so again it's subjective, on a collective level but still subjective. Though I do like to think that if someone in 1700 or 1200 had listened to the Beatles they still would have liked it. Lol I guess we'll never know :)

Sorry - if this was a boxing match between the two albums the referee would have stopped it halfway through Don't Panic.

By the general public, voted for in music lists etc. There's plenty of published "best albums of all time".

 

In general the best albums will also sell well and have longevity in the charts (although that's not always the case). You can see this the way GS fell away in the charts. You can also see this the way The Beatles for example are still selling 50years on.

 

In 5, 10, 20 years time noone will be citing AHFOD as an album that inspired them or a great album.

Exactly. The general public, which is just another bunch of opinions. There is no good music, only music that you like or don't like.
