Scathing Coldplay article

Featured Replies

Maybe, do you agree with the article?

Do you think they're just in it for the money and feign humility?

I definitely think Chris feigns humility. You can see through it in all the interviews.

You think he puts it on?

Yes.

In a way, maybe not, because I'm sure a lot of people doubt themselves at first, but I don't really believe him all the time. I just don't think somebody with passion and who has talent will always be putting themselves down.

Well yeah maybe in that respect, but I don't think he thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread either.

Haven't really thought about it. To me, it doesn't matter that much, but I might feel different if one of my favorite bands ever did come out and say "Yeah, it was all about the money." But rationally, I would like to just Coldlpay just for their music and not for the contant of their interviews or their political beliefs.

Within reason, of course. If Chris came out and said "I wrote this song while clubbing baby seals" I would probably never be able to listen to their music w/o thinking about dead seals.

And likewise, if Chris described some cynical way in which he wrote Trouble targeting a specific argument, structuring the song around very commercial ideas, I'd probably have my view clouded a little, though I wouldn't want it to be.

But until they give me real reason to think that, I won't.

I agree with this. But then again, he might just figure it's easier to be humble because that fends off controversy.

Yeah, I can see him doing that.

I have heard him say he thinks he's in the greatest band in the world too, I don't think he's arrogant, he just believes wholeheartedly in Coldplay.

lets get back to numbers..... 10% go to charity! :)

Only 10%?

What's up with that?

:)

erm 10% r enuff i guess...well i dunno...but i think its a good sum...assumin their earnings...

just kiddin

yeah, 10% is good.

:)

:idea2: oook

yeah tis! :D

I think that guy (not Guy...wow I'm lame) is fucked, he’s basing all of this on one overheard conversation. He doesn’t know anything about Coldplay. I know if I had money like that I’d take it seriously.

That article is so full of shit!

Well of course bands have to talk about their financial situation at some point, of course they want to make money, just like anyone else.

Like someone mentioned before, the article doesn't say anything about giving away 10% to charity. And on that note, the 10% charity thing wasn't even supposed to get out to the public because the band are so humble about it. They always get defensive and don't want to talk about it when people bring up the 10% thing. Their accountant accidentally let that slip.

Furthermore, it fails to mention how Coldplay have turned down millions of dollars in advertising for products. They also probably could have had more merchandise and things like Coldplay dolls and lunchboxes if they really wanted to.

Basically if Coldplay were in it purely for money, they could have shown us that already, but they're not.

:D i wanna have a cp lunchbox

You should see Noni's Chris Martin panties.

They're kinda disturbing, actually.
