More Coldplay Theories

Featured Replies

I don't usually make threads, so I guess this is a start.

There are other Coldplay theory threads existing, but I can't seem to find them, so I might as well revive the ideas here.

I was thinking about a missing link between VLVODAAHF and MX. I had realized something interesting about the storylines in both albums, particularly in Viva La Vida and Major Minus. In Viva La Vida there is a king who has just lost his empire. The king looks back in his old life, desiring that power that he had lost. He is being pursued by revolutionaries that "want his head on a silver plate". (It seems to be referring to the French Revolution but it goes deeper than that). So after the king is forced to abdicate his throne someone has to take over. A revolutionary rises (maybe one that has read Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto and was influenced by his ideas). This leader establishes a new socialist government in replacement of the absolute rule the kingdom once had. Before the leader dies, he realizes he needs a successor. He looks at the potential leaders and likes most of them, especially a certain Trotsky(ahem). He looks at the other potential successor, Major Minus and says to make sure that he doesn't rise to power. He claims Major Minus and his arrogant evil ways aren't fit to guide people... But of course Major Minus out maneuvers his opponents and takes over. Major Minus establishes a new totalitarian, communist dictatorship, connecting to the comic book series and Orwell's 1984.

So VLVODAAHF to MX was not the French Revolution, but the Russian Revolution of the early 20th century. Major Minus is pretty much Joseph Stalin.

Lol welcome comrades.

*the only thing that wasn't accurate to the actual Russian Rev was the creation of the provincial government before Lenin (or that other guy stepped in), but the point is that it represents a major radical revolution and a major shift of political power.

This was one of my theories. If you guys have any more ideas you can drop them in here.

I'm not sure where should I post it (sorry if someone noticed it before), but in the screenshots from this interview: http://coldplaying.com/forum/index.php?threads/2016-01-31-coldplay-interview-on-cbs-sunday-on-their-super-bowl-half-time-headline.105825/ I saw something really interesting

Above the scene there are: clouds, a rocket, a baloon and... something that looks like an Eiffel tower. According to my knowledge, Coldplay is going to play a gig in Nice, not in Paris, because of the Euro 2016.

What do you think of that?

The real Coldplay was killed off in 2005 and replace with more effeminate lookalikes :P

I think there are more shows anounced anyway, cause in some interview they said that the Tour will take til early 2017 and they're gonna play on several festivals. The only festival anounced (at least as far as I know) is Glastonbury.

I've also heard that :) I'm speculating if they're going to match their decorations to the cities/countries in which they're going to play.

I recently realized that Coldplay songs almost never directly mention someone female. In many non-coldplay love songs there's something like "she" or "her". The only coldplay song that comes to my mind is paradise. Could that maybe be a proof for the buckin theory?

The first thing that came to mind honestly was Up and Up and the idea that you should reach for the stars... I guess. Sort of like "Believe in Love" it represents a message they were trying to preach.

Or it's GLOBALIZATION

*disclaimer: I am not a master theorist, I don't do this often, but I just thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else would say.

So Guy is secretly a fembot, like the ones from Austin Powers?

And the rest their clones had a dosage of estrogen?

Possibly, and they also mentioned a she in Yes but that was directed to the listener. Or maybe it means that love comes in all forms and sticks to no gender or being, in more liberal terms I guess. BELIEVE IN LOVE, like they said in the super bowl. It's unconditional in Chris's abyss of a heart.

Anyone of them could secretly be bi or gay irl. My instincts say Chris the most, not even because of Buckin.

I also had a thought about the link between Coldplay and British Imperialism (yes because they are British) and I realized that if you twist the main words of Viva La Vida enough you get the anthem of a power hungry British empire during the decolonization phase.

"I used to rule the world..."

"The sun never sets on the British empire"

Or that whole Hymn for the Weekend Crisis and Britain and India.

Honestly, I think some of the theories in this thread are extremely far-fetched. You can always interpret everything in any way with enough imagination.

Well yeah. I'm not much of a theorist clearly, but I thought I might as well take a shot at it. I don't do much thinking... In general lol (I thought this could be a challenge for me) so if I have more time I could probably further explain some of this stuff instead of going on incessant ramblings about nothing

Theories in general all start off as far fetched thoughts in the beginning imo

It's just for fun anyway

I haven't known that! I was gazing at this backdrop for a long time, but still, I can't see anything :D

Yeah, probably, but it's just theories and i think it's fun to see what other people come up with :)

With Coldplay, a real band with real people, there isn't much you could really do except with messing around with the meanings of music or doing future album speculations to make something seemingly plausible or logical. Bands are different than books or television shows. Otherwise the Guy-robot theory, the Buckin theory and everything else of course is going to all sound like BS regardless of the amount of evidence you support it with. Besides, it's fun to stretch your imagination even though it most likely isn't true. Idealism I guess
