If you were to introduce Coldplay...

Featured Replies

...To someone who has never heard of them (yeah right) before, you must choose 2 songs of each album/era starting from Parachutes to AHFOD, and describe in 1 word what kind of feelings/emotions these songs contain for you.

I'll go first:

Parachutes

Don't Panic - Beautiful

Spies - Paranoia

AROBTTH

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - Dark

A Rush Of Blood To The Head - Battle

X&Y

Speed of Sound - Space

Fix You - Regret

VLVODAAHF

Strawberry Swing - Sweet

Life In Technicolor ii - Art

Mylo Xyoloto

Hurts Like Heaven - Color

Moving To Mars - Alien

Ghost Stories

Magic - Lounge

Midnight - Darkness

AHFOD

Up&Up - Completion

Hymn For The Weekend - Diversity

Parachutes:

Trouble

Shiver

AROBTTH:

Politik

AROBTTH

X&Y

Speed Of Sound

Talk

VLVODAAHF

VLV

Cemeteries of London

wouldn't introduce the newer albums to anyone...

Cool idea! It's a bit hard to choose just two songs from each era, since they're all so different from each other. But I'll give it a try ;)

I have to say that I had a very difficult time figuring out if the songs I was choosing were good songs to recommend or just my favourite songs. I tried to be as objective but I think my recommendations are more towards the songs that I enjoy the most :P.

Parachutes:

- Don't Panic -> Calm

- Shiver -> Love (I just love Shiver so much :heart:)

AROBTTH:

- Clocks -> Classic

- Green Eyes -> Warm

X&Y:

- Talk -> Exciting

- A Message -> Sweet

VLVODAAHF:

- VLV -> Memories

- LIT ii -> Free

MX:

- Charlie Brown -> Fun

- Major Minus -> Edgy

GS:

- Magic -> Nostalgia

- Another's Arms -> Mystery

AHFOD:

- AOAL -> Fun

- Fun -> Nice

I believe if you want to introduce Coldplay you need to show a hit song and a less known one that represents their sound.

Parachutes

Spies and Yellow

AROBTTH

Clocks and Politik

X&Y

Talk and Speed of Sound

VLVODAAHF

Viva la Vida and Violet Hill

Mylo Xyloto

Paradise and Us Against the World

Ghost Stories

A Sky Full of Stars and O

AHFOD

AOAL and Amazing Day

Extras

Careful Where You Stand

Atlas

Christmas Lights

wouldn't introduce the newer albums to anyone...

Yeah but some people would like the newer albums:D

I will mix it up: I am trying to introduce Coldplay to a skeptic--someone who hates them for no reason and thinks they are crap pop:

Parachutes:

Don't Panic- Reliance

Shiver- Anxious

AROBTTH:

Politik--Desperation

Daylight--Crashing

X&Y:

Til Kingdom Come--Romance

Low-- Swirling

VLVODAAHF

Cemeteries of London--Haunted

42--Commemoration

MX

HLH-Colorful :)

UWTB--Sparkles

GS

Midnight--Confusion

Magic--Optimism

AHFOD

Birds--Floating

Up&Up--Hope

It kind of depends on the music taste of the person I'm introducing to Coldplay, but in general I would go with these:

In My Place - regret

Paradise - dreams (a head full of dreams, if you will)

Princess of China - royal

Your interpretations of the songs are interesting. What do you mean by "one's self" for Up & Up? How about "strong" for Shiver? What about "life" for midnight? Really curious...

Hi there,

Maybe, I've taken this challenge way too serious, but I tried to write the exact words that those songs mean to me. For "one's self", I really meant "being oneself". I bet that's why they called it "the song we've been waiting to write for fifteen years". Because it's real and honest.

"Shiver" gives me this powerful feeling about: "I can achieve everything I want". And for that, I gotta be strong. And Midnight, well, it's one of my favorite songs. It makes me feel alive!! Midnight makes a fool of us in the daylight. It brings out our deepest thoughts, making them come alive.

Hope I've wrote clearly,

Amy

Yes, that makes a lot of sense. I also took this seriously! I guess I was interested because those particular songs have a different meaning for me. Thank you for explaining!
