Serious? He was the lead singer of the Chicago until he went solo in the late-80s. He had a bunch of hit songs, "The Glory of Love" being the biggest of them. That song was the theme to "The Karate Kid: Part 2," the chorus to which is:

Hence the reference to defending your sister.

Well, that's good. There are two Brazlians in the NBA now. American's never got to see Oscar Schmidt play other than the Olympics.
