Oh and I got to meet him, too. He shook my hand, and we're waiting for the picture where he has his arm around my husband.

These are fantastic. And you got to meet him.... :dead:

Omg you met CHRIS :o tell more lool !! x

Oh my god, lfdianne... I know this is an understatement here, but... that must have been one HELL of a night!!!

Yes, I got to meet him, and I spoke with Will - he's my guy. Nicest guys. Here's a write up of the story. I've posted it a couple of places here, so some of you may have read it. Back in March, I won a radio contest for Cocktails with Coldplay - it was supposed to be like a cocktail party, you know...so I've been dying for the last 4 months. So here's the story:

To be honest, it was a little disappointing. We got there at 5:30, and were supposed to be at the KROQ tent between 6-6:15, and don't be late. Well, the gate didn't even open until 6, and when we got there, the line was more than halfway to Wild Rivers. So there would be no way we'd get to KROQ by 6, especially with the long walk between the gate and vendor/stage area. We finally got in and got to the KROQ tent at 6:20. I showed my id, and they gave my husband and me wristbands with B on them. A few minutes later, they led us around to the left side of the venue, and down to the promotion area. There were some tables and chairs and KROQ banners, and it was catered with burgers/hotdogs/fruit/chips but we had to pay for the Cocktails. There was an open door to the backstage area that was guarded by security, but we could see the stage. We were there just hanging out until about 7:45, after Kitty, Lewis and Daisy, then they led everyone in a line around the back, where the trucks and tour buses are. We stood there for another 45 minutes, not quite knowing what the delay was. Nelly, their head of security came out and gave us a brief rundown of how it was going to work, because the band was running way behind schedule. We were in 4 groups of 15-20 people, A-D, and would wait with our group, then the band would come out and take a group picture, with each group. We were in B, but it didn't really matter. More waiting, and Amadou and Mariam finished their set while we were waiting. And waiting. Finally, finally, we were told no personal cameras, no autographs, there was no time. Then the band came out and went to two groups, then I went up to Will and started talking to him, just stupid fan stuff, like how great Saturday's show was and how much I've enjoyed the 3 shows I've seen on this tour. He thanked me, and said he hoped I would enjoy the show. Chris also walked up to me and shook my hand, and he shook my husband's hand and apologized for the confusion and delay. Jonny and Guy walked right by us, to get with our group. I followed Will and stood right next to him in the back for our group shot. I'm 5'11" and he's about the same height, so it was ok that we were in the back, kind of smooshed up against him. I have no idea where Jonny and Guy were in the picture, or even where my husband was, lol. I couldn't take my eyes off of Will, lol. But my husband said Chris had his arm around him in the group shot. Then security started telling us to go to our seats, because Magnificent was playing. We walked past Gwyneth who was sitting in a box seat, she's so pretty in person. We got to our seats, Sec 3, Row U, right on the aisle, when the Jay Z song was ending. Our view was awesome from those seats, and since we were kind of on the side, we could see behind the gauze curtain before LIT started. The rest of the show was amazing, of course, and they ran right up our aisle on the way to C stage, hand slaps from Chris and Will. During Viva Remix, people started leaving, VIP types, so my husband made his move down closer to the front. We were about 10 rows back for Politik, in some random empty seats, then when they went backstage before The Scientist and LIT2, we walked down to Row 2...so close to the front. We were kind of in an aisle, so security told us we had to go back to our seats, but there were empty seats in row 3, so we just moved over there. And stayed there until the end. We were giving a neighbor girl and her friend a ride home, they had bought my extra tickets from me, so we found them, and walked out gathering butterflies. That's when I saw Brooke, and stopped to talk to him for a couple of minutes. I also went up to the sound guy and asked for a setlist. At first he said he thought they were gone, but the other guy handed one to him. Overall, a great experience, and a fabulous show, but there is still a bit of sting from the meet and greet. I was so nervous all day yesterday, i couldn't eat, and I kept thinking about what I was going to say to them, and in the end, I just blabbered like some fangirl, yeah, a 43 year old fangirl. KROQ will be emailing out the group pics they took of everyone, so I hope at least it turns out ok. I got some great pics, because I was able to bring in my dslr with a zoom.

So that's my Coldplay meeting story. Yes, I'm thrilled I got to see them up close and meet them, but it was too short, and rushed. The radio station is supposed to email the picture to me, so I can't wait to see it.

SMUSHED UP AGAINST WILL?!?!

God, you are so incredibly lucky. I am so jealous right now! :P

That is too awesome. Too bad things were behind schedule, though, ack... but you still got to meet Coldplay! AND BE SMOOSHED UP AGAINST WILL. :D Envy!

Chris's arms are like, SUPER tan!! Like mine!! :wacky::P!!!

HI Christina you have very good sight!

yes T-shirt is nice but expensive....

And we know that Chris is a Bruce Springsteen fan. I just hope he follows Bruce's lead and is still performing when he is 58, like Bruce is! I saw my first Bruce concert when Chris was just 4 years old. lol

I was trying to edit this but it kept crashing, but anyway, the most recent Bruce concert I went to was April 2008. I'd love to see Coldplay have that kind of staying power - like all those classic bands, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Bruce. Hell, even really old guys like Neil Diamond are still perfoming. Chris has that age complex thing going - but he's still a baby and has another 25+ years left :laugh3:

Congrats Dianne!! Thanks for sharing!
