Everyone, including me, loves his falsetto, but when I heard 'Yes' for the first time, I found his lower range incredibly hot! A truly diverse singer!:D

 My thoughts exactly. And that is why that is my favorite song from Viva La Vida (well, that and the fact that the song just rocks-I love the strings throughout).

It actually took me a few listens to appreciate that song at first, 'cause for some strange reason I got some sort of southern swampy vibe from the opening music and that thought sort of weirded me out for some reason. I don't know why. But then I started to pay attention to the lyrics, and liked how dark and intriguing they were, and I REALLY liked hearing Chris sing in his low voice, and after a while I was like, "This song is really sexy." And now it's one of my absolute favorite Coldplay songs.

Like I said a while back, when it gets to that "But it's not easy when she turns you on" line...well. Cue the pervy thoughts.

Man. Now I want to go listen to "Yes" :p.

I agree on it proving his diversity, too. For anyone who thinks of Coldplay and thinks of or only knows their pretty piano songs like "Trouble" or "The Scientist", or acoustic guitar stuff from Parachutes and such, I'm pretty sure Viva La Vida surprised them a bit.

VLV surprised even me! And I'd followed the recording process as much as possible. I LOVE Eno (though I think it's time he and Coldplay took a break...just my inner producer thinking out loud), so I REALLY found the process fascinating. I thought I knew what to expect, but was completely surprised...and delighted...when I heard the finished product!

I'm still a sucker for those pretty piano ballads, but I don't cry when the band expands their horizons. 'Yes' and '42' were such great examples of that. A Rush Of Blood will always be my favorite album, but objectively speaking,VLV is far superior.:D

like Chris' smile here. :) goodnite.

It surprised me a bit, too. Up to that point I owned Parachutes and knew (and loved) all their well-known songs, but that was about as far as my general knowledge of them went at that time. So when "Violet Hill" first came on TV I remember looking at the screen going, "THIS is Coldplay?!"

Fell in love with that song, read a glowing review of the album in People, of all places, that made it sound very intriguing, and voila, I'm off buying it and from that point on, slowly but surely, my deeper interest in the band begins.

Wholeheartedly agreed on this, too ("42" is fantastic as well. Another one of my favorites from that album). Viva La Vida actually is my personal favorite album, but I adore A Rush Of Blood, too. Like I said, though, I can find something to love about all their work, every album is special to me for one reason or another. And I will fully support them trying new things. Even if they do something I don't care for, I will still like the fact that they were willing to take risks.

Oh, that is nice. The hat's odd, but somehow it works, too.

Good night :).

I was one of the crazies who sat up all night on here waiting for Violet Hill to debut on the BBC, and my first response was similar to yours. Only more like "HOLY FUCK! THIS is COLDPLAY?!?!?!" I couldn't believe it, and I was SO thrilled! My 'violet bum' might have been talking though, lol.

(A few of us had the 'Violet Bums' club for us who were losing feeling in our asses from being glued to our chairs all night waiting for VH.:))

It's still one of my faves. And not just because a certain guitarist really gets to shine! ;) Chris took some real risks vocally and lyrically, and it...GAH, I'll shut up now. Going to listen to VH.;)

^I love his smile in this one! Yeah, at least that hat isn't as annoying as the one he wore to the Brits after party, lol.:D

Thnx Kristal for this lovely picspam!

And that video! He looks so amazingly hot and sexy, that I had trouble keeping up with what he was telling... :D:lol:

9 pages in my absence! girls you want to kill me? :dead: :dazzled: :dazzled:

Thanks youuuuuu

Haha, I'm listening to the whole freaking album right now .

That's hilarious, "violet bums"-I like that. I stumbled across the new video by accident, I had left it on VH1 for background noise and then the video started and the whole look of it had me curious, and then when the little thing came up announcing it was Coldplay I was like, "Ooh, cool, it's their new song, I'll check it out."

And not only did I love the song, but the video was what made me fall for Chris, too. I was watching it and thinking, "Okay, so when did Chris Martin get hot?" Apparently I hadn't been paying any attention whatsoever for the previous eight years or so :laugh3:.

Fully agreed, too on the lyrics-the whole album has some of the best lyrics they've ever written, I think. And the guitar-yes (forgot to mention, I love the guitar in "Yes", too. Go, Jonny. Rock on). When I heard "Violet Hill" I was like, "Well, anyone who says Coldplay can't rock can officially shut up now."

Hats can either be really good or really awkward on him. I kind of prefer him hatless, for the most part. But that's probably because hats hide that lovely hair of his, and that's a crime to cover that up.

If this is what kills you, can you honestly think of a better way to go :D?

Enjoy!

Absolutely agree about the hatless factor. His hair is just so lovely.:)

Being an 'old fan' sometimes I forget how meaningful their newer songs/albums are to people. I've pretty much stopped comparing albums for that reason. Each is something new, to be cherished and treasured in its own right.:D

It is. I have this thing about men with nice hair that I can run my fingers through. I don't know why, but it's just a really sexy feature for me on a guy.

Agreed. That's why I don't get the snobby attitude towards newer fans-who cares when somebody came onboard in the fandom. We all love the music, so that's enough for me. I know what it's like to be a "newer fan", so I sympathize.

I'm in sort of a strange position with Coldplay. Like I said, I've known and liked them from the start, back to 2000 and when I heard "Yellow", so in that regard I'm an "older fan". But I only in recent years really got further into them-I don't know why I didn't start buying up their stuff sooner, given I did like it-I think I'd meant to but for some reason never got a chance/got around to it/whatever, but eh, well. So technically I'm a "newer fan" in that regard.

Everyone can like whatever era they want, have a favorite album, whatever, matters none to me. We've all got our preferences, and there's nothing wrong with any of them. I wish more people would realize that.

^I just can't imagine this decade past without them. I liked a few newer bands (Doves, Starsailor) but didn't LOVE anyone like I do them. I was one of the first people on this continent to hear them, and I KNEW they were special! They were my little indie secret, but once they got famous, I was just so happy for them. A few fans from back then turned away just because they weren't a hipster band anymore, lol. Same thing happened to REM. Good is good. Simple as that.:)

OHMY I LOVE when he smiles :dazzled::dazzled:

And I didn't read everything you said girls, and I'm probably a bit late, but Yes is definitely one of the hottest songs he sang  :dazzled:

And Daylight, of course :dazzled:

Yeah, "Daylight" is a great choice, too. And "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face". Again I say, that "honey, honey" bit...that does things to me. *Shivers*

He uses the word "honey" a few times throughout that album, I noticed. Which I approve of, 'cause he sounds really sexy and adorable saying it.

I wholeheartedly agree. It's so great to have a newer band like this, one that you can claim from your generation or something. I'm glad they're famous, too. I always want bands I like to do well because that means there's more chance for me to run into other people who like them, too. I often tend to feel kinda isolated with my musical tastes, so I want a band to be well-known enough where I can bond with people over them.

That hipster attitude...sorry, it just makes me want to do this: . You don't own a band, you can't control who likes them (and those are often the same people who complain and moan and go, "Why do people listen to other crap and ignore stuff like this?" Can't win either way).

Anywho...Chris...so this is my 500th post, I think I'm entitled to do a picspam now. Plus, I promised Row some hot pictures to cheer her up. So here goes:

...but I sure would love to find out. Shake it, Chris.

Enjoy :D.

That really is just too cute :D.

I wonder how long it took him to master the unicycle?

jj

^wow you're so lucky to have met him! :awesome:

Welcome btw :D

?? Obviously I missed something...

^^ That just came up on my dash and my jaw just literally dropped!

I mean, that is the *definition* of gorgeous! EYES! LIPS! :bomb::bomb::bomb::dead:

His eyes look like those pictures of space you sometimes see and his bone structure is FLAWLESS...

/fangirl rant :P

Yes... :o these were my thoughts too.. :P:cool: followed closely by I MUST post that on the Chris thread... although someone beat me to it! LOL

Oy, so much to catch up on ! *Cracks knuckles*

My god, I am so sorry to hear that . Completely and totally understandable (saw your bit about my avatar, too, thanks for the update and for working on it :). But go do what you need to do first and foremost for your friend. Everything else can definitely wait). My thoughts go out to your friend, and to you as well-you know we're here for you if you need anything.

*Pokes his stomach in the top one. Then feels a strong urge to tackle him*

Love that second one, too. That getup will always, ALWAYS look so incredibly sexy on him. I don't know what it is about that look, but...my god. I fully agree on the slight scruffy beard, too, it totally works on him.

Thanks, she was OK.. she has seven dogs! But still every single one is special. Moose is particularly beautiful. But we had a nice evening despite it all.

I have an urge to tackle him.. on occasions too.. :wink3:

Love the slightly beard too.. it's my favourite look..

Everyone, including me, loves his falsetto, but when I heard 'Yes' for the first time, I found his lower range incredibly hot! A truly diverse singer!:D

 My son has really REALLY just got into Viva - he fell in love with MX and is going backwards... and so we sit in the car together coming home from school and listen to it... and both of us sing along at the tops of our voices! LOL.. his new favourite is Yes... We must sound like total loonies but who cares! LOL..

:dazzled::dazzled:

Only good moment of the NRJ Music Awards
