May 23, 200422 yr ive been studying like crazy....but there isn't enough time! We had the offical 8th grade state exams the past two weeks, then we have the regular class exams next week..its just not right! :stunned:
May 23, 200422 yr In the US, it just seems to be that kids arent tested enough. Its not rare to hear of those 'Straight A' students, not rare at all. Me, this other guy and two other girls were the best of our class (And it was the smartest class too), and in the 8 or 9 subjects we had there was NO WAY we'd get straight A's, that would be considered ingenius, probably. I'd get like 4 A's, 3 B's and a C, and thats considered very, very good. Now, last years GCSE's I got extremely good results, (A*, 3 As and 4 Bs) and everyone thought it was like WOAH, but this girl in a grammer school not too far away got TWELVE A*'s! Thats the maximum, no-one's ever done that. And that, really is genius. It just has always seemed like the US' education system leaves too many kids un-tested and sitting on Straight A's, if these kids were to try out different education systems it might be quite a different result. Thats taking nothing away from Jeff who achieved all full marks possible to him, very impressive, well done.
May 23, 200422 yr Im in honors classes and it sucks man. Too hard. Yet they're are putting me in honors again next year, my freshman year.
May 23, 200422 yr Author Bananaman, thank u...is it really like that over there?...don't we all learn the same thing?...but I c ur point...to me, the people over here r very lazy...with school and physical stuff...I guess it doesn't matter the location it's the individual...some don't care and don't realize the effects it will have on ur future...sort of like looking ahead...allot of ppl don't do that...I do sometimes...it's hard. :D

May 23, 200422 yr Bananaman' date=' to me, the people over here r very lazy...with school and physical stuff...[/quote'] not that im saying that your calling me lazy or nothing, but my grades dropped because i became too active. bah. :embarrased:
May 23, 200422 yr Author Im in honors classes and it sucks man. Too hard. Yet they're are putting me in honors again next year' date=' my freshman year.[/quote'] what r u complaining about?..u should be proud..I've been on honor roll since 2nd grade and love it.....I skipped 3rd grade and sometimes I get in trouble in school bcuz my teachers say I'm disruptive bcuz I finish first and then get bored...next yr in 9th grade I get to take 2 10th classes..one's in math and other in Science...so I'm happy....u should be too.. but congrats to u n e way labell :)
May 23, 200422 yr Im not saying that people over here are lazier or duller, its the fact that the grades push the students in the UK much harder than over there, thats just how it seems. I mean, over there, its not un-common to find a straight A student in any school, whereas over here, the first time someone ever got straight A's was last year. A's seem a lot harder to achieve over here.

Lucky. Im on honor roll, but not principals which is straight a's. I'm taking all 9th grade classes but honors ones yeah. They go faster. bah. What math did you take this year?
May 23, 200422 yr Author mimixx, :) thank you!!! :) labell, I'm on 2 soccer leagues and play baseball..and get A's...u can do it ;) Bananaman, oh I know what ur saying....it's my thought that people are lazy here in the US and it always seems that in other countries education is a #1 priority ...I just didn't know that it was that hard to achieve...so if I was over there, what grade level would I be at, in ur opinion....
May 23, 200422 yr labell, I'm on 2 soccer leagues and play baseball..and get A's...u can do it ;) I try..i just know i cannot wait til the summer when i can forget school and just focus on soccer and the barn....because im like never home during the school week.
May 23, 200422 yr Author labell, I was in Algebra II math classes......I love math..... :) I would like to be a mathematician ;)
May 23, 200422 yr Y'see Jeff, its the US' messed up education policies which make that question impossible to answer. Your getting maximum marks in a lower graded system, therefore I dont know how well you'd do over here because I cant assume that full marks over there would lead to (example) full C's over here. You, and many other kids across America are getting straight A's and having an easy time doing it. Its obvious that education is not a #1 priority in the US, otherwise they wouldn't have stopped pushing the bar for kids at the top, and you'd be having a much harder time at high school.
May 23, 200422 yr labell' date=' I was in Algebra II math classes......I love math..... :) I would like to be a mathematician ;)[/quote'] Whoa....im just finishing Pre- Algebra.. my middle school dosent even offer Algebra II, the highest they offer is geometry. whoa. :o

May 23, 200422 yr Author labell, my class was Algebra but my teacher was giving 2 of us students in his class Algebra II courses...and yea I had geometry in the last part of the yr w/my algebra...my teacher's idea...lol :P

May 23, 200422 yr Im sorry I think I mighta just mistaken you with someone else whos said they never do anything for school work but still come out good. My bad. But, although it may not be easy cake to get straight A's, over here its virtually impossible. You'd have to study from when you get home, to like 2 in the morning, all year long, to keep up with the in detail work of each subject in order to get A's everywhere.
