Musiclover - I like your avatar. Is it Halley's comet?

may be Hailey's! ;-)

:D

no, it's not that one. It's something else altogether. I don't even know what it is. But the 'artist's rendering' is supposed to come to reality pretty soon; the probe has already been launched by the European Space Agency and its on its way....

thanks for noticing :-)

Cool  I remember the Giotto probe that went very close to Halley's nucleus and sent back AMAZING pics. I just find it incredible that they can so accurately launch a probe to pass that close to a comet!

I'll look out for the news reports of this one then :D

can i have pics of this comet you speak of?

Hell yeh! You're not too bad yourself missy :D

I think we should have a pic of Ian in a dress :D

Actually, then you would be delightfully surprised with this one. This probe is meant to intercept one of the comets (or was it suppsed to be an asteroid?--i am confused about that basic info! lol) and actually land on it, and then drill thru its crust, analyze the sample and send back the data. Kind-of like what NASA did with its newest probes to Mars.

But with ESA's Mars probe failing, one wonders as to the success of this exotic experiment!

Hell yeh! You're not too bad yourself missy :D

:wink3: SAMMIE IS SEXY! LETS ALL CHANT 'SEXY SAMMIE'! WEEEE ok *dies*

i think this calls for a pic of sammie. huh huh right fellas? TAKE IT OFF!...........

Hmm, yes, Beagle, wasn't it? Sad stuff. But WOWWW - this latest exploit sounds incredible! Maybe it's an asteroid though - comets don't have crusts exactly. Even so, still amazing!

Thanks for the info. :D

ah, i see! :-) I learned something today!

actually, now that i recollect, yeah...aren't comets just mostly ice, with spatial dust mixed in! lol
