Thanks for your report ! Can you not even tell us if the song sounded more like Viva La Vida (upbeat, classical) or ASFOS/ETIAW (upbeat, electronic-sounding) ? Do you know the name ?

I wish the video would show Chris walking a street like in Yellow or Fix You ! But if no one saw them on that street, it is likely that filming was in a closed room (maybe a studio ?).

At this point the battle is probably gonna get really intense, so vote away ! Parachutes A Rush Of Blood To The Head X&Y Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends It's really hard now for me to decide. AROBTTH and X&Y are my top 2. So that leaves either Parachutes or Viva to eliminate... I vote for Viva to be eliminated.

So I've been hunting down rare Coldplay records for my growing collection (currently, I only have less than 10 items though) and today I saw a Speed of Sound promo CD for 3 dollars. Some weeks ago I bought Brothers and Sisters, and even though they were in different shops, I got asked the same question both times at the cash register: "You are aware that this CD only has one track/three tracks, right ?" I think it's really nice and honest of the vendors to point this out, but both times I had to laugh and explain that I collect Coldplay releases. I know it looks weird when I buy a CD with one track only. :D

Funny, I have exactly the opposite feeling. For me, what Embrace did to that song should be prosecuted as a crime against music...no, joking but I really think those lyrics need to be sung slowly and with a lot of feeling/breaking voice, like Chris does it, not Embrace style :D

Sorry all my comments come in separate posts, only my internet is very slow and it takes ages for me to go through all those pages so when i see something worth responding, I write a quick response post immediately. I wanted to say one thing about the article bashing Coldplay for using Holi symbolism. We all know the guys did not mean to offend anyone, but as has been pointed out, the fact that they're Brits + the fact that it undoubtedly is some kind of India cliche to the eyes of many natives explains that such views appear. However, exotic cliches in music (and film, although that seems to have gotten a little bit better) are unfortunately very common. As for Coldplay's "sins", first of all the POC video comes to mind, but I don't even think that was their worst foreign-country cliche. In my opinion their worst is the clearly Arabic instrumentation in Yes, their only song about sensuality and desire. And that's pure Orientalism as cliched as it can get. It's actually one of the reasons Yes makes me a little uncomfortable when it comes up during VLVODAAHF.
