A whole album would statistically increase the chance for me to have new stuff to add to my playlist immediately, since every Coldplay album so far (even GS) has had at least 1-2 songs that I like. :)

To me, the song is somewhat boring, and its melody is not as great as other AROBTTH songs. It never really takes off, although the last line might well be the best part of it. Dond't like the overall instrumentation sound.

Coldplay is remarkable and differs from many other bands out there in that not just one or two songs, but the vast majority of their songs contain timeless, powerful, simply great melodies ! What is your take on Coldplay's most remarkable melodies ? Nice and thoughtful comment! I'd like to add to the fact that Chris is potentially the world's best melodist the fact that he has one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful, singing voices in contemporary music. Personally, I like that they are a soft-rock band rather than hard rock, although I think the thing they excel most at is when their soft rock has a clear edge to it (Politik, Shiver, Cemeteries of London,...) To me, elaborated lyrics without great instrumentation and melody in a song are somewhat worthless (if i want that, I read a poem), that's why I forgive Coldplay the sometimes not so great lyrics. Generally I believe, however, that the lyrical vagueness adds to the relatability and helps the songs create emotions when you listen to them, and I don't mind it. Sometimes emotions are better captured and reverb more powerfully in simple lines than in elaborated ones. Oh, and if I were to compare bands by measuring their output of timeless and powerful melodies (which is subjective, but still), I have no doubt Coldplay would be the world's best band by far in that regard !!

I think you're basically right, AMDB. I just checked, the Keane song Crystal Ball has the line "Everything I know is wrong" in it, which appears in The Hardest Part. (darn it, I don't know Keane discography at all :D) But I'd think the song that beastwars alludes to is The Hardest Part then, not Low.

You know what should give us hope ? There has never, ever been a Coldplay album release later in the year than mid-October (Prospekt's March was November, but then it was not an album but just an EP to VLVODAAH which came out in summer), and the most common time for Coldplay album releases is summer...so yes, September would be perfect.

But if I were you, Spraycan Soul, I'd do everything to come early. Even if all you wanna see is just coldplay (that would be it for me, at least), if you don't come early you'll be standing at the very back and seeing them only from afar.

Huh, no one was in any match for biggest CP fan as far as I can tell from reading the posts. I'm one of those people who love their first 3-4 albums most and don't really get warm with MX and GS (as all of the regulars here will by now know :)), but I have the feeling that I will never be able to like another band and music like I like Coldplay. And the reason for this are the emotional connections formed during difficult times. Also, in many years to come I may listen to other music more than to Coldplay, but their songs and melodies will always remind me of youth. It has become part of your life and will always have been a part of your life and your own person's history. That's why Coldplay music will always stick with me, and I guess this may apply to others here too.
