I don't see the point in this thread. Doesn't every thread in the Coldplay section that isn't specifically tailored to one era/collection of eras pertain to all of Coldplay's discography? It seems that this thread was created with the sole intention of taking a jab at Oldplayers.

It would have been a lot stronger if Cash had been around to lend his vocals. Probably the only song on X&Y that's Parachutes-esque.

I wonder if they themselves have full creative control over the setlist or is this delegated to someone in management? You would never know with Coldplay these days.

As much as I respect David Bowie's music and love the song Heroes, when I attend a Coldplay concert I go to listen to Coldplay songs. When you get rid of the cover you free up a song slot for an older song.

The more I look at that setlist the more and more I realise how weak it is. Where's Trouble? Where's Don't Panic? Where's In My Place? Where's The Scientist? Where's GPASUYF? Where's Speed of Sound and Talk? (Severely neglected) Where's Violet Hill? Where's Lovers In Japan? And that's only the omission of singles! Obviously they can't play everything but when you have songs such as UATW, Amazing Day, ETIAW, Magic, Birds etc and you're missing classics such as these there's something wrong.

So, so disappointing. What I don't understand is why they would pick a slower song like UATW from MX when clearly the slower songs from the earlier era's are immensely superior. Why not swap out UATW (Non-single) for Trouble? (famous single) This would give a more rounded view of their discography, why not swap out Amazing Day for The Scientist? Just bad set-list placement in my opinion. Especially considering they virtually play nothing from X&Y there's no excuse not to try harder for us older fans. With that being said I would still pay the price of admission to hear Politik and Green Eyes.
