How? These were both singles released worldwide. I own both of them on vinyl. Some people don't consider the world to be round, that doesn't make it flat.

  3. What Oldplayers expected the purported "Asian" influence on AHFOD to be like:
  4. Wonder if Coldplay will go back to being Coldplay for LP8.
  5. From the very start of this legendary thread only about 30% of it relates to the actual thread title.
  6. When Parachutes was released, it received gushing praise from critics due to the fact that minimal production was used. The album consisted of musical instruments recorded in their very essence accompanied by an earnest and insecure vocal talent, this was a breath of fresh air when many of Coldplay's contemporaries, even the mightly britpop legends Oasis had resorted to using distortions and psychedelic overporduction on their latest effort SOTSOG. How Coldplay lost this genius sense of minimalism that made Parachutes a modern classic is beyond me.
  7. Again not bashing them, just saying simple truths. Coldplay Superbowl 50 (Brought to you by Pepsi) AOAL music video (Brought to you by the Beats Pill) Coldplay-Princess of China ft *RIHANNA* I'm a Catholic but I don't believe every word the pope says nor do I believe every word of the Bible... why? because I am a human being with the God given gift of critical thinking. Don't trust everything they say. Actively question it. Have some sort of nuance in your opinion please, not just blind praise/loyalty.
  8. Yes, and I'm a fan am I not? Just not a naive fan. Not hate, just an honest appraisal of current Coldplay.
  9. Look at what I said again, *PARTIALLY* influenced by money. I imagine not all of the pop shenanigans are for money, Chris has probably convinced himself he's doing it for love or some other disingenuos reason, maybe it's not all them, probably studio heads at Parlophone who are more than happy to encourage them to do duets with Rihanna and Beyonce, Arianna Grande, Bruno Mars etc etc You don't do that type of thing for artistic or creative merit. You like current Coldplay and that's fine, but you got to realise they've alienated their old fans, some of which are bound to be bitter and point out their faults. How long will it be until they alienate you and move on from bubblegum pop to the latest fad? Again, to say that they haven't sold out is frankly a little ridiculous when you look at the difference between AROBTTH and AHFOD.
  10. If you don't think that Coldplay's recent change in direction is atleast partially influenced by money then I feel sorry about how blindly deluded you are.
  11. 2000: "We never change, do we? No, no. We never learn, do we? So I wanna live in a wooden house, Where making more friends would be easy. Oh and I don't have a soul to save, Yes, and I sin every single day." 2016: "I'm feeling drunk and high! so high, so high" Idiocracy.
  12. Hi Stephen, just donated 2 euro. Great charity. Can I have my pretty badge now? :D
  13. As a concert and festival going veteran I'd say wear earbuds if it's playing on your mind. Admittedly it tends to be very loud at the front but wearing earbuds is annoying as they keep falling out as you shift/jump around. It also dampens the sound. I don't wear them and haven't gone deaf (yet!)
  14. Hi Stephen, quick question about donating Do you leave your forum username or your actual name and is it a one time donation or are you signing on to a continuous direct debit scheme?
  15. Chris, lights will guide you home. Come home  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8SRsPPlfuM
  16. I also hate the fact that Coldplay have massive influence on what other bands are doing at the moment and they're not doing it for creative reasons, they're doing it to try and emulate Coldplay's commercial success. An emotional singer singing over synthetic backgrounds is very du jour at the moment, it's bad enough when Coldplay do it but these other bands just can't do it half as well.
  17. The lake you see in the video at 9:06 is half an hour away from my house :D
  18. Amazing Day and Up&Up are the only songs I like on the album.
  19. I think Chris is being slightly disingenuous when he says that AHFOD has been the album they always wanted to make and that they're comfortable now. I just can't image the 21 year old band who re-recorded AROBTTH to ensure it's perfection as a modern classic we're sitting around the whole time thinking "I wish we could write a song about being drunk and high and give Beyonce 40 million to wail over it to increase its commercial viability" No Chris, It's the album YOU'VE wanted to make since meeting Jay Z in 2008. It's just taken you this long to wear down the artistic integrity of the other 3 members. Talk about jumping the shark
