Kaleidoscope EP
I think I may have been one of the ones that started that. It was when we only had a gif and a song teaser. The guitar riff and the very strong drums at the end of the teaser proved to be promising, but we got something totally different. But hey, at least we got the indian influences to some degree in the instrumental of Hymn for the Weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A Head Full Of Dreams~ the redone version
Before I start this, I'd like to take off some steam because Tapatalk fucking closed on its own midway through my paragraph [emoji35]. Anyways, I have many problems with this album, but there are many things I like. It certainly isn't the best Coldplay album (though its probably the worst), but Its gotten much better in my mind. Its grown on me since last year. But problems with production and writing really hold this album back. Here are things I'd change: 1. A Head Full of Dreams - To this track, there is a certain problem when you dig deep into the strong structure. I've found it to be very bland and generic. Seriously, unlike Hurts Like Heaven, there is no creative flare that grips the listener. The production on this track is also very muddy and is more like white noise to my ears. Fix the song by cleaning the production and write the song a little more creatively and not just to be an anthem at concerts. 2. Birds - wouldn't do much here. Its my favorite track off the album. Maybe clear up the production here. 3. Hymn For the Weekend - This track is one of those cases where the instrumental is just beautiful, but is held back by shit lyrics. If only a little more the lyrics were written a little more personally. Also, did we really need Beyonce to be the "angel of the record"? There are so many vocalists out there that could do the job better. Her vocals don't seem strong enough here to fit that role. 4. Everglow - Same with track 2. Clear up the production here. But the difference here is, they need to clear it up ALOT. This song can only be good if its raw, like the Single version. Just imagine a synthy The Scientist-esque piano rock version of Everyglow. 5. Adventure of a Lifetime - Production here could use some work. But I still love the guitar work on this track. The lyrics though, they could use some work. Just like HFTW, make it more personal and meaningful. 6. Fun - First thing they should do is rewrite the entire fucking song. This song is the cringiest thing I've ever heard Coldplay do. The lyrics actually seem good and have some meaning in them. The production here as well is great and probably is the best on this record. But this sounds like them trying to sound like the average cheesy love-story singular female artist. It just doesn't fit them at all. And if we're gonna have a guest female vocalist here, might I suggest Florence Welch or someone with a more powerful voice. Also, dont say feat. if the guest will only do backing vocals. That's just a waste. The guest vocalist should sing the second verse with Chris doing background singing. Great instrumental wasted on a terrible song. 7. Kaleidoscope- Would'nt really change anything here, its as good as it is. But the tour version of this track should extend this track. Seems like it would make it better. 8. Army of One - On the contrary to popular opinion, this track is my second favorite out of all of the album. I just love the powerful organ and raw drums. Believe it or not, I think the vocal chops make this track better and catchier. The thing I have an issue with is the vocals. This track is clearly autotuned. Chris does not need it (well, maybe in some places). There are some vocal effects to the vocals that make it better, but the autotune is unnecessary. The production is also an issue here. Its just like AHFOD. Very muddy and in need of clearing. 9. X Marks the Spot - Remove it. Doesn't need to be here. Maybe put like a jazzy blues version of this song as a B-side to AOAL (similar to the Violet Hill vinyl), cuz that would sound cool. 10. Amazing Day - In this case, we have an OK instrumental, but shitty lyrics. Besides X Marks the Spot, this track has the worst lyrics. The production here ruined what could've been the most beautiful instrumental on the album. I love the strings on this. But the lyrics are the cheesiest thing I've heard Coldplay write. Come on Chris, you can do better than this! 11. Colour Spectrum - This track feels like filler IMO. If they added more layering and samples, it could've been more interesting. I just felt like there was so much empty space. 12. Up&Up - This track has the biggest issue on production here. This track can only be good if its raw. So many effects are blocking out the guitar solos, I just hate it. The live version is so much better. If they made this sound like a track that could've been on Viva, I would be satisfied. The Believe in Love part should've been the live version. Just so powerful. Seriously, when I first heard it last year, I was amazed. Thought it was going to be one of my new favorites. But apparently not. I haven't listened to it on its own for a while now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Random Coldplay thoughts...
I wish they could do something like this in the C-Stage: A short and slow version of Hurts Like Heaven with just Chris and the piano that ends after the first chorus. Then that could lead into a classic like In My Place or Dont Panic. Then after that, what I really wish they could do was a melody of alot of their older but not well-known songs. twenty one pilots did this on their tour. Just a combination of 4-5 fan favorites. I think that could be really cool and would be a great treat for fans. Maybe even if they switched it up every few shows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Isolating vocals?
Yeah, I understand why Hymn wouldn't work out. The vocals are buried beneath the production, especially the chorus. That song definitely wouldn't work out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Isolating vocals?
The instrumental needs to be an exact copy of the full version. The instrumental you got probably wasn't the same. Also, sometimes it really works out because the instrumental is an exact copy. Btw, I use Adobe Audition CC 2015 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Isolating vocals?
The BEST way to do it is to get the instrumental version of the song and put it into a multitrack aligned with the full version of the song. Then, invert either the instrumental or full version. It wont give you a completely clear acapella, but its the best way. Sorry I cant give a more detailed description. I dont run on Audacity [emoji51] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, that doesn't imply that anything from them that makes it onto the radio isn't good. It means that, like I previously said, songs like HFTW and Princess of China were made specifically to become hits on the radio. Using that kind of ideology means that great songs such as Clocks, Fix You, and Viva La Vida arent good Coldplay even though in my opinion, they are. Well, the setlist is already filled with "arena-friendly" songs filled with "oohs" and "woohoos", so why do more of that? There isn't really a need to anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, that's not what I meant at all. What I meant was that the band is NOT trying to make songs specifically for the radio (ex. Hymn for the Weekend, Princess of China). They are seemingly trying to make songs that they think can live up to their potential. Not songs purposely made to be radio hits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which of these songs is your favourite
Definitely Somebody Told Me by The Killers. Probably because I've known that song for a long time. Here's a little synth/indie pop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JYb_4uVEKI Mobile Link: https://youtu.be/5JYb_4uVEKI Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ryan Tedder knows how to make hits. But at this point, I don't think that's what Coldplay is going for in this EP. They've already been massively successful and, like they said, their like shows are going very well. Plus, its already logical that "good Coldplay" isn't "Coldplay that is meant for the radio". Ryan Tedder, in my opinion, does a great job in making massively successful singles, but there are better choices regarding what the band want at this point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As much as how much I (and Ryan Tedder) would LOVE a collaboration, let alone an entirely produced album, I dont think his production style is the best. Its GOOD, but its not the BEST. Certainly better than Stargate tho. Coldplay should work with Anthony Gonzalez of M83. I would love an experimental album with that epic M83 flare. Maybe even a Madeon collab like the one that was scrapped because it was too upbeat for Ghost Stories. I dont think Coldplay will return to their raw and rocky roots, but I do hope they go into the experimental electronic genre in the future. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Honestly, the production on VLV was far from the best. It just wasn't clear at all. I think Ghost Stories, Parachutes and A Rush have the clearest production out of all the albums. I think people are overrating that album in terms of sound. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First time Coldplay concert goer here!
Its based on preference. You wont see the xylobands at the concert in Manilla. But you'll be very close to the stage. What I was saying was that I was pretty energized at my seat in the stadium as well, so there wont be as much of a difference in the experience. But my advice is to go for the open grounds if you dont mind standing up. Besides: Seeing the band play close up > Xylobands Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First time Coldplay concert goer here!
When I went to my concert, I got a seat in the stadium but I did not sit down once. I was pretty energized the entire way through. BUT, for the opening acts, I did sit down. So, Im not sure how it would've been for me if I stood up the entire time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
