  1. By the way, it's my new fav Coldplay song. Every single bit of that song is perfect. From the way it starts, all low and sad, than it explodes into that, this massive soundscape that goes on for a minute or so, is just wonderful, then it all ends there with him singing "Up withh the birds..." Swear that makes me cry every time. Then the strings always hit me... (transitions to next part) The opening guitar in the first part is fantastic. Chris' vocals combined with the strings after that, again, just perfect. Drums kick in and the "Simple thought, but I know one day, good things are coming our way" -- not the most advanced lyrics (as the "A simple thought/plot" explains, which I like). It just gets better, with one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever writen. "YEAHHHHHHH" then it drops and the piano outro.... don't care what anyone says, best part of any song ever written, hands down. Up With The Birds is absolutely fantastic, Coldplay's true, and not well known, masterpiece. There are no words to describe it. I wish there'd be another song out there like it. I heard someone else say that they're making an album (it's a user on this forum) and one of the songs is going to be an even more euphoric version of UWTB. Don't know how that's even possible but if he makes it happen I will totally do something to make his year.
  2. Well, here you have Up&Up after 15 years (6 years since this thread was last active) XD
  3. Silly Chris :D Chris jumping around on stage vs Chris at the piano
  4. Yes, this makes you a true Newplayer. By the way, are those actually your thoughts on songs or no? Just wondering.
  5. Switching my vote to Hymn for the Weekend in the case somehow we can save CS. I doubt it. It's better than half the actual songs IMO.
  6. ^ I never had much internet connection much the past two days either interestingly enough... I had some but not a lot.
  7. Army Of One Hymn For The Weekend Wish we'd get a strikethrough option someday...
  8. Finally, someone else who likes Til Kingdom Come.
  9. + Til Kingdom Come - 4 Up In Flames - 7 Color Spectrum - 5 - Major Minus - 6 All Your Friends - 8 The Fall Of Man (Demo) - 6
  10. If Coldplay did 3 straight Parachutes albums they'd be irrelevant lol. One would be fine (however they basically took Parachutes and made it electronic, and gave a "cool" feel to it with GS) so that's be a little iffy but ya 3 would be pretty boring.... I'd like for something new from Coldplay for their 8th album. Check out the "Random Coldplay thoughts..." thread for an example of what I'd love to see from the band. I personally like Coldplay's older albums better as a whole than the new ones however I'm not only into alt-rock. I love a variety of genres, to pop-rock (and even straight pop if it's done right), Ambient, Experimental music, most of those subgenres, etc. However I just like Coldplay's older sound as a whole better than their newer one, that's all. Some bit of "magic" and "richness" seems to have disappeared... I don't know what...

  12. Coldplay needs to do this. Like, needs to. Only then will I be completely satisfied with their direction. :wacky:
  13. Yeah, usually when someone mentions "newplayer" around here it doesn't necessarily mean that they just became a Coldplay fan (although that could be the case, and most of the time it is because they're joining possibly because they like the new content so much wheras they didn't care so much for their old content, although there are a few around here who've joined recently because they liked the old Coldplay and came here to discuss that), more specifically it means that they love the new stuff and prefer it over the old stuff. I've met maybe a couple people who are that way and don't get the very obvious dislike for Coldplay's new direction and album, but I've personally never met anyone who's actually stated that they actually don't really approve of Coldplay's old work that much. (I personally get why there's no one around here like that, Coldplay's old work you find masterpiece after masterpiece honestly :P) (However I think most "Newplayers" actually don't dislike their older work, they just like the new stuff better; wheras Oldplayers not only like the old stuff over the new stuff, but actually criticize the new stuff frequently). Which would mean that Oldplayers are way on one end of the scale, while the "Newplayers" are only biased a little opposite. Anyway's that's how I see this Oldplay-Newplay thing.
  14. You are right, it's Coldplay at it's most ambient. The general atmophere, ignoring structure of the songs, instrumentation and such, is cool and definetely ambient-like in that sense. However if you look at the songs themselves most don't really fall into the "ambient" category, that being music that puts more emphasis on tone and atmosphere over actual structure or rhythm (which most GS songs do, focusing more on structure and rhythm). However, again the atmosphere itself is ambient-like. But I don't think it's true ambient. (BTW I love ambient music, I wish Coldplay makes a true ambient album someday :wacky:)
  15. Hmm... I don't really notice any Newplayers around to be honest...
  16. Coldplay - Viva La Vida 9 The Who - Baba O'Riley 10 Muse - Knights of Cydonia 22 Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb 7 Foo Fighters - The Pretender 10 Claude Debussy - Clair De Lune 13 U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name 7 + Jon Hopkins - Light Though the Veins 12 Coldplay - Yellow 11
  17. Lol Ghost Stories isn't ambient. Midnight is, and maybe a couple others but if you want ambient search for Kid A. Or Jon Hopkins and Brian Eno's work. GS is pop. (Just sayin)
  18. 200th post! :D + Up In Flames - 8 Til Kingdom Come - 4 Up&Up - 7 - Major Minus - 4 The Fall of Man (Demo) - 7 All Your Friends - 9
  19. @I ran away has been offline for yesterday and today, not sure where she went but she'll come back. I have no idea where @KidA went however, seemed to have been mostly absent since AOAL was released. I'll check their profile.
  20. That sounds pretty sweet, actually. :)
  21. Exactly. They needed to make a revolutionary album after X&Y, they were changing but not very much. The first three albums sounded different but mostly the same in a way. As you said they were using the same tricks overall. They changed a ton with Viva and that's why they're still at where they're at. I feel like they need another revolutionary change for the upcoming 8th LP now. They've been into somewhat of a pop style in the last 3 albums. I feel like this LP8 needs to be something revolutionary like Viva. Not the same style as Viva, but seeing it as Coldplay taking a whole new direction (and that's bound to happen since LP7 is the last album in this one era I guess... LP8 with most likely start fresh and new. Hopefully they hire Eno and Hopkins (almost said Stargate, no thank you) --I couldn't wait to see what they'd come up with. A man can dream... :)
  22. Coldplay should hire you. Post of the thread.
