  1. You two both are not alone, @mayrn43 doesn't like it either.
  2. ^ That's actually insanely good. GPASUYF vs Just The Way You Are (Bruno Mars)
  3. The whole GS album, and A Ghost. And Gravity to an extent.
  4. Why Is Colour Spectrum getting votes, is it just because it's an interlude, or is it actually bad, it can't sound bad, XMTS is by far worst
  5. My opinion on ASARY: I love the massive sound it has to it. It keeps me interested throughout the whole song and I definetely rank it in my top 10 Viva songs. However, the sound does sound a little messy somehow lol, that's one of the things about it, they may have overdone it a little bit. As for Daylight, the song is really fine, but compared to all the AROBTTH songs it has nothing special that defines it, really. Every other AROBTTH song (even A Whisper) has something about it that's unique and makes the song extremely enjoyable in it's own way. Yes, Daylight is unique, but there's nothing specifically that's actually good about it that makes it a uniquely good song, you know what I mean? That's why in my opinion the song is a little forgettable. The way it's set up is also kind of bland, I mean there's not really a "interesting" part in it if you know what I mean. Now, there might actually be an interesting part in it but I don't listen to it much because again there's nothing that makes it extra special or anything. It does have some uniqueness to it but IMO it's "just another song". Not anything too special about it. I know I've been saying that a lot of the time but that's why I don't rank it as high as other Coldplay songs. The piano is a nice addition however, but it doesn't really do much in the song, like many of the other instruments. Most of them are there because they're just... there. Unlike in other AROBTTH songs, where they actually do something. There we go. After 10 lines I think I finally found another reason why it may not appeal to you nor me. :D The lyrics actually flow very well with the song themselves though. That's something I like about it (then again, nearly every AROBTTH song has good lyrics, so there's the "uniqueness" issue again) Chris Martin's vocals however, while fitting with the song, are just kind of bland, boring, and not all that special or great. Yes, it's unique, since he rarely does sing like that (and that's a unique feature of Daylight but again it's not neccesarily "good", that's the difference) however the vocals themselevs are probably some of the worst of his. Definetely the worst of AROBTTH. I even prefer the "Newplay" Chris' vocals to Daylight's vocals, overall. Now you know all about my opinion as a whole on Daylight, in the form of 15 lines!:D
  6. + Up In Flames - 6 Til Kingdom Come - 5 Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall - 9 - Major Minus - 6 All Your Friends - 8 The Fall Of Man (Demo) - 9
  7. I dont think Daylight is all that great either... It's pretty okay.
  8. Oh ya I forgot... the unreleased songs stick to that elimination. Just like A Ghost with AROBTTH.
  9. BTW "Gone But Not F. Cotton" should be in the list :P It was made before AHFOD was released, but hey, Atlas was too, and it's a part of the GS era. This is similar to many tracks on the album IMO and should be considered part of the era :)
  10. Wow, that's actually a pretty good song. Very different... GPASUYF vs Till The World Ends (Britney Spears)
  11. No Birds shall be winner :P X Marks The Spot BTW thanks for finally making this elimination! :D
  12. Exactly. Even though there might not be anything groundbreaking or new or anything there's always room for what you said. We always need have those kinds of songs :)
  13. A Head Full Of Dreams - Christopher Anthony John Martin's Band
  14. Exactly, As with many others, I'd prefer quality music from Coldplay over fame. I wouldn't care if Coldplay's album tanked in the charts if they decided to go all Kid A. At least we'd get to listen to some real masterpieces and that's what I truly care about. Now, I don't understand why all the trash music gets all the recognition nowadays as opposed to some really good mainstream music pre-2012, but hey, apparently everyone's musical tastes have gone way downhill nowadays for whatever reason. They've been drawn in to believing that this fake plastic pop is the best thing ever, it's just so sad that there's no appreciation for real music in the mainstream nowadays like there should be. People only want all the "hot girls" up on stage now, it's pathetic. The "pop concerts" have turned into a big plastic act. So dumb. Real music should get much more recognation over that.... and Coldplay shouldn't fall into the trap of these hitmaker producers and all these "tricks". Up until now, Coldplay never used them, never paid attention to them, and they never needed them. They wrote honest music that touched everyone who dared to really listen, and Coldplay's method has always worked. They wrote masterpieces. Not only that, they achieved worldwide fame, making #1 album after #1 album, that was actually true music. Coldplay were, and arguably still are, the largest genuine act out there. Everone else popular is nowhere near the artistry of Coldplay. Coldplay doesn't need none of these "popular tricks" to stay relevant. Those "tricks" just make your music forgettable within 3 months. The real tricks come from Coldplay. The tricks they use(d) actually work, and that's been proven many times. Not only that, but unlike these "hit-maker" tricks, Coldplay's tricks produce music that goes on to be remembered 15 years later. These Coldplay hits, unlike today's trash mainstream, are going to be remembered for a very, very long time. How long that is I don't know, but hey, The Who's "Baba O'Riley" was released back in 197 freaking 1. And most radios still play it. That's a song that, as far as I'm concerned, is going to stay relevant forever. It's a classic. Simple as that. I don't think any of Coldplay's songs will last more than 40 years but if they do, hey that's fantastic. Congratulations. All I'm trying to say is, that songs like The Who's "Baba O'Riley" will be remembered for many more years, while songs like "Black Magic" or something similar are going to be forgotten in tops, a year. If Coldplay had kept on choosing innovation over fame, they still would have got fame. They still did, but the difference is, with innovation and choosing producers like Eno and Hopkins over Stargate, they would have produced real hits. The kind of hits that get played many years into the future, instead of being played 30 million times a day and then forgotten 3 months later. So far, "Adventure of a Lifetime" isn't even getting played hardly on the radio, maybe like once every two weeks, and Everglow has been played... 0 times. Not any plays I've heard of yet. As far as I can see, there's no single from this album that'll be as widely-remembered as their older work. This album is proof that the "hitmaker" tricks don't work very well. Hopefully Coldplay have realized what a major mistake they've made by hiring Stargate over Eno or Hopkins -- many tracks on this album were degraded by the production/electronic beats, and many of the true hits that Coldplay have wrote were probably discarded, lost songs that could have been a Viva la Vida but never were, since they never reached the light of day because of those suckers Stargate having to listen to everything before choosing the "fake hitmakers" and then degrading the quality of those ones even more because of the pop production. Hopefully from this experience they go with innovation and experimentation for LP8, maybe an ambient rock album? With bringing in an experimental outside-of-the-box thinker like Eno or Hopkins rather than going with a forgettable-music producer. Maybe then will they produce yet another "real hit" that'll be remembered for a while. Hey, with working with people like those there's always space for reinvention even. If they go with them again we could see some real great stuff! So excited!! :D But then again, I'm not, because I know it probably won't happen. Because Coldplay can't make the right decisions, no more. But there's always that chance it will happen... then Coldplay can go back to making real hits. :) Oh, a man can only dream. Have a great day everyone. /rant
  15. Well starting with Princess of China but whatevs lol. But mainly Mylo had real drums, so you can't count that album. You have Princess of China and Up In Flames, can't think of any others off the top of my head that don't use real drums. By that logic if you're saying Mylo has electronic drums because of one song, you can count Viva too (Lost!). He really started using electronic drums in GS though. But I would like to see even better from him -- as you said, bongos, tribal percussion, or just different metrics and changes of rhythm. It'd be great to see that from him. The riff repetition issue is a bit of an issue. That's one of the minuses of ETIAW; it has a sick guitar riff but it'd be even better if there was more variation in it's riffs. I do agree, Jonny really shines in this new album. Every band member does. Birds is literally perfect, can't find a problem, and one of the pluses includes that he does a lot of different guitar work. The way he does it is just so dreamy and has a floating feel to it, which suits the song perfectly and is a lovely guitar style. There's also a lot of variation, as in the ambience as well. Lovely guitar work in that one.... the song gets better as I listen to it, and most of us have agreed so far that Birds is the star of this album. Amazing guitar work... wish it was more all over the album. As for AOAL, there's a remake of it actually that varies the guitar riff quite a bit, and it also has this "floating" feel to it that the original version doesn't. Essentially it's AOAL Birds-ified. It's lovely. I recommend checking it out, also removed the vocal effects. It's perfect. I don't know why Coldplay didn't think of that version and put it on the album since it's so amazing! :D
  16. Do you mean behind the cover on the right side? The album? Is that what you're referring to? If that's the case then I'm not sure how you're supposed to know it's behind it, because you can't see it? How do you know? Or is the song title actually visible? Because I'm looking all over the radio, including at the album, and I can't see it no where. But, just wondering, can you actually see it in a place I'm not looking? Or, if it is in fact hidden behind the album and it's not visible in this photo, then how do you know? Just wondering.
  17. Sorry, I can hear them very clear in all the songs @gentleparachute mentioned. Also, the "unnecessary and gratuitous synth sounds" aren't really unnecessary. I really love them, and MX's synths are some of the best IMO. The only song that's really "overproduced" in MX is DLIBYH. I love the production on all of the other tracks, even if these MX songs are stadium tracks with massive amounts of layers and it's produced quite a bit. It's fine with me, the production just fits perfectly with those tracks even if it is a lot. However I do love the quiet, small production of the early albums as well. They're special to me, since I also like the simple production. It has this magic to it... I don't know. Sometimes less is more, and the production proves it. :D I love both. The production fails on AHFOD though, to a degree. But I only hearing problems with DLIBYH... honestly, why are they burying Chris vocals XD
  18. Can't tell if you're joking, can't find it
  19. It's so faded tho... I see it but it's interesting how they can sneak them in and at first glance you don't catch it.
