Hymn for the Weekend - video
Mostly agree with this, however I do think Chris is more obvious about his religious beliefs than ever before. Before it was little things like "God put a Smile upon your face" and essentially references to God are made but in such a subtle way that a listener who wouldn't believe in God (or any listener for that matter) wouldn't notice it at it's first glance. As they progressed, through Viva, they were a bit more obvious about it, then you get to Mylo and most of it is either subtle or not there at all (as the album is focusing on other things, the story) but for example in the two acoustic songs there are clear references to God. "Oh morning come bursting the clouds amen" and I think a few more times through UATW but I can't remember necessarily at the moment, but in the beginning of U.F.O you can tell it's there. Moving to GS they gravitated towards the mindset now, just with a much darker and cooler feel to it, like they still had the Love button and all, which I'm not sure is neccessarily religious but I think there was more of that type of feel to it throughout, than you have AHFOD with "God is Love" "Oh thanks god" and essentially religion is brought up numerous times throughout the album and in a very noticable way. But I don't think the album is necessarily religious, it's just a part of it and more it's a celebratory happy album that closes at least closes an era for Coldplay, the band is having a lot of fun and they deserve it after a long long time of actually wondering about their future. So that's more of what it's about, not really focusing on religion, but it's more of just something that's just happening.

It's HOT in London
Oh no this literally takes me right back to June of 2014. Had the worst case of insomnia ever. Didn't have AC at that time which was the real killer. Smoking hot temperatures with 30C+ and above and at night temperature nearing 20 which was way too hot. and all I had was a fan that only blew hot air around. Pointless. Yes it was cooler but the sheer humidity could not be stopped. I was sweating like crazy and could not get to sleep. Besides, for some reason the fan I guess made the air less of something so I got all sniffly and I can't sleep like that either. So it was either make the heat keep me up or have a sniffle which is just as bad. Literally could not sleep at all when I needed to. Of course, right around 5 I did get so tired and it was a little cooler which allowed me to sleep right around till 9 when the heat came back and woke me up. But I tried to get to sleep much earlier, and I just couldn't and I had no idea what to do that late at night. Of course I had stuff to do it was just that it was late at night and as got as it was I still didn't have that much energy so for 3 hours I wasted time doing nothing much really on the internet lol. Some nights I'd have to go into other rooms where it was actually cooler. But by then it was brighter and in that state of mind you know unless you did some calming practices which I did try and worked to an extent you couldn't get to sleep. Anyway it got a little better but still not great eventually, guess my biggest problem was I had to get up fairly early most days at the beginning and I didn't want to be tired but it kind of ended up affecting me I guess. I didn't have to wake up anymore at a certain point which made it so I could stay up later and get away with it I guess. But you get my point it was terrible. It made for some memorable experiences though at least! Now I have an AC and I have better ways to get asleep so thankfully unless the power goes out and I can't use my AC in the summer I shouldn't have a problem. But I guess on really hot days there is an increased risk of that happening so ya. Didn't have any problems last summer though. Sorry for the long post I know you probably get my point now...

What are currently your 3 favorite Coldplay songs and why ?
1 - Up With The Birds. I mean, this is simply just a masterpiece. I could go on and on about how this is the perfect song. The beginning is a nice quiet way to open it up, to put you in a sadder mood. Then it just blows up into this massive beautiful sound scape. It's a mix of sad, happy, hopelessness, hopefulness, just everything. Just powerful. Then you hear "Up with the Birds" and it brings a tear perfectly to your eye as the transition piece comes in, which is such a nice little quiet piece that just fits perfectly after the massive soundscape. Then the song just picks up right again with one of the best guitar parts I've heard in my life. It is wonderfully happy and cheerful, yet has a sad melancholy side buried within. The vocals and strings join in and it's just a mix of all emotions honestly. This is also one of the best parts ever of a song. The lyrics are so fitting and amazing to. The drums kick in, and a simple thought, but I know one day. Good things are coming our way. Such a simple and straightforward lyric as itself days but it's so powerful, and sad, yet Hopeful. This is what I'm looking for. Yes, is happy, but people say that Mylo is all happy, that is false and songs like these prove it, Mylo had a dark and sad side just like the albums that came before it. It just actually openly Hopeful. It had emotion and sadness to it, that's why I think Mylo is still good like the previous albums. On with the song, by now, you already have the best piece of music ever written. Just the perfect combo of everything. The one fault it would have without the outro is that it even did. I'd like the song to go on forever. But look, you already have the best song in the world, but guess what, now you have the outro. This outro I swear it's done so well that it's not even a problem when it's over because you heard the best outro ever. If it had a less good outro I'd say that it is a minus that it had an outro. But this outro is just the best sound EVER. You thought the rest of the song was good, then you have the outro and it just blows it all away. You have the "Yeahhhhhhhhhhh" then it just drops everything, and his perfectly into the best piece of any music ever written, the piano outro has the best melody of anything ever. The sorrow, sadness, hopefulness, happiness.. Words can't describe it even remotely and it brings a few tears el every time. It's put perfectly and wow I just feel like I'm ruining it because I'm trying to put it in words. Just listen for yourself, truly magical, I'm out of this I don't want to do A disservice to the music, honestly. This post is already long enough. I'll explain my next two fav songs later.

What's up with chris's voice??
Well I don't know if you can confirm that, but he still might have a very good voice then. But I don't think it's going all the way to 60. Already all these big tours have gotten to his voice already... I mean as love as I adore the Mylo tour stuff like that puts strain on your voice and I mean it's going to get worse if he keeps doing stuff like that. This upcoming tour isn't going to help either.

What's up with chris's voice??
Thought this was just made recently, apparently not.... interesting to see the observations about Chris' Voice were already made as far back as here. Now we look forward and this fits in with the times where his vocals were still very very good... (they still are very good, just not as good as they were :()

Topaz. Not sure if you heard of the artist before, since they're very hidden and unknown, but their music is truly undefined. No one I've ever heard before has done anything like it. It's an undefined genre. I can't tell you honestly. There's nothing really to compare it to.... it's true artistry. It's a form of electronic, a very, very experimental electronic at that. I guess some of the vocals are thrown around like in Radiohead's Kid A. It's very experimental just like Kid A actually. But the music sounds much different. Although I don't know, they're similar in a way... very different feel yet they actaully are in a way similar... Search "Half Awake Pt 1" and you'll notice some similarities. It kind of feels like it. I don't know. Their music doesn't really have a defined melody to it (well it does sometimes, but it focuses more on texture rather than structured verse-chorus and a defined melody style). Which, in my opinion, is very artistic, because it's a lot harder to create a song that's like that rather that doing the typical structured song with a defined melody. I'd say it's a form of ambient, but with more upbeat, and diverse instrumentation. It's undefined. I know I've said that before, but I don't think anyone's done anything like it before (again, outside of Kid A which is experimental, and is a bit similar, but not in the feel). It'd be very interesting to see Coldplay go in this direction next. It'd certainly be a long ways from pop, that's for sure. I'm not sure I'd actually want them to go in this direction but at least we'd know that they had their artistry bad if they did. (However, my true dream is to not see Coldplay try and do something someone else has done before, even if it is really experimental, but just like with this artist, do something entirely new. That would truly make my day to hear an album like that from Coldplay, although I know that they're just not at that artistic level now and it probably won't happen for a million years).

I agree. The night time is definetely the best time to listen to Ghost Stories, in fact I've never listened to it outside of nighttime because I find it so unfitting. (Well not so unfitting, but unfitting enough.)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
^ Very well said! It already has :( The newer albums are poppier than the Oldplay... But I guess he's bringing up those bands more than ever now. If he keeps this up, the bands music will keep degrading unfortuantely if they don't take a hiatus and take a look at what they've done. I don't believe they'll go all the way pop and I still believe they'll still have some rock in them like today with AHFOD but if it keeps up and they don't take a break it'll get worse. And if it isn't in the form of jumping around and dancing it'll be the normal pop you hear today which isn't that dancey anymore to be honest. It sort of it, but not on Coldplay's "pop" level. The reason I sort of enjoy the new content even though it's pop is because it's celebratory, upbeat, which I believe makes pop better. If it's the "normal pop", unless it's done right, it's going to sound like trash like many of the songs you hear on the radio today. However, if it's the other end of the scale, deep and dark, like GS, it can also lead to acceptable results. Even though GS is my least favorite album I still enjoy it, even at night. The general atmosphere is perhaps what I like most about this album. Cool and dark style music. Of course some of it is in the form of pop but for example Magic or Ink fit in the category of the "better" pop songs IMO. (Ink has a good melody, that's mostly why I like it even though I admit it is a little too poppy) This is just my view on the whole thing...

IKR, hoping for them to at least come to Canada! Preferably at least coming to Vancouver at the furthest, Toronto is to far although that's most likely the one that will happen. (Although there's a chance that Vancouver could happen to...) Although Edmonton would be a dream come true, that's the closest major city to me that they'd actually have a chance to play in so ya. Happened before.- Off topic chats
Thanks for letting us know at least, was wondering where you went, hope you'll be back soon and best wishes! :)- Random Coldplay thoughts...
One thing I took notice of in the AROBTTH era is that they seemed to "finish" their songs. What do I mean by that? Well, take The Scientist for example. Notice, how it starts with just the right amount of repetitions of the beginning part. It repeats two times which is perfect. I find that many pop songs nowadays only do the part one time. Even in some other songs that aren't pop, like "Unsaid" by The Fray, only do it twice when it should have been repeated more. I find that in AROBTTH especially they make a point of "finishing" their songs this way, opening their songs with the right amount and closing with the right amount. Another example: In My Place. The drumbeat repeats twice, and the guitar riff after repeats four times. Then the vocals kick in and the song shifts. It's a perfect intro that's longer. Warning Sign also is especially finished, since there's numerous times not just at the beginning, but throughout the song where they "finish" the song. The guitar part at the beginning repeats four times, the instrumental part after that repeats 4 times, the last two times with added strings, then they go ahead and switch back to just the guitar while adding the vocals. Then, throughout the song they do these little things to make the song just a little longer. Repeating a little thing twice when you wouldn't have thought it. Extending the song to even longer than it originally was. You think the song's done, but they add just another bit to it. Then the end I love, because most of us would probably think that it'd repeat 2 times, 2 with just the piano than 2 with the vocals. But no, they do that little thing to fill the song and finish it, making it four times with the vocals. I love the AROBTTH era for this and it's in most of it's songs. It makes the song extra enjoyable to hear those extra bits added on where you wouldn't think, or making a longer intro/outro than you'd normally think. It "finishes" the song. See what I mean? A song at it's full intended length, without it getting all shortened or anything. This was also present in the X&Y era too. They didn't purposefully add anything on in the Viva era but they made Reign of Love longer. Then the others I can't notice anything, maybe even shortening at some points which I admit sometimes get to me when I need to hear the song in it's full intended length. Just thought of an example right now: Charlie Brown. It also has a beautiful piano outro. IMO it should be repeated two times though. This is a less bad example but still an example. Hopefully you know what I'm getting at here and see how in AROBTTH and X&Y especially they made sure to go that extra steo to make their songs that bit longer :)- Random Coldplay thoughts...

I can't actually believe that Army of One got that many votes....- LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Very well written even though my feelings on AHFOD are different than yours. Personally I really like AHFOD except Army of One and XMTS. Even HFTW I sort of like even though it is super mainstream. That said I definetely prefer Coldplay's older content, and unlike any album done before this actually has a downside to it: it drags on and on and on. AHFOD starts it off with energy. Birds is universally loved to bits, HFTW while mainstream is quite enjoyable and catchy in a good way for me anyways, and stands out a little bit because it is more complex than most mainstream songs at least, Everglow is no Scientist but it is a nice little pop ballad, AOAL is controversial but I personally enjoy it, although it sounds a little mainstream, it is a very good song for me, but after this the album drags on a ton. After Everglow it becomes more boring and more boring and more boring, then the Army of One drumbeat wakes it up a little but overall that one is super boring and forgettable TBH and makes it worse. XMTS is just... forgettable lol. Then AD comes and COMPLETELY saves the day. Nice little opening to it to clear things up and balance things out after the "stuff" that came before it. Then the soaring chorus comes after it and completely wakes the album up. I adore this. It sends shivers down your spine and makes everything better especially with the nice and rich productiomn it has. It brings some life to the album and essentially saves it from being Coldplay's most forgettable drag on piece of work ever. It wakes you up from your sleep.... really I almost fell asleep during my first listen and it actually helped a ton to clear things up. Then you get to Up&Up. Horribly produced, wonderfully written song underneath though. Great closer as always from Coldplay. (I replaced mine with the live version, live version is pretty much a masterpiece). I particularily want to make a comment on this: "AHFOD feels like the pop element of their music wore thin..." I completely agree. They did wonderfully in Mylo, yet starting with GS their music started to feel a little hollow. Of course there were exceptions, but the synthpop setup and the clean short-y production on it just took away some of the depth that I'm looking for to really enjoy those songs. The lyrics and songwriting on the first four especially aren't neccessarily top-notch either.Mostly it's those four and Another's Arms that are what everyone thinks of when they say that GS isn't good. (And ASFOS for most, although I like that one) I just think it felt a little hollow. AHFOD continued this trend, their older music just sounds so rich with those organic sounds and the production it has, now with the clean pop-production, combined with more poppy and mainstream songs, and electronic drumbeats and loops and stuff rather than organic real ones, it all just combines to make a more of a hollow sound which I don't prefer. If it had more organic instrumentaion, more attention-catching drumbeats and melodies, better songwriting and lyrics in general, and more of an Oldplay style production, I would be much happier with the album. I already am, it's just that the musical choices Coldplay are making aren't the greatest, and especially what Chris chooses to listen to nowadays I feel has a very negative impact on all of these things as compared to back before. These little deficincies (however you spell it :P) can be corrected and Coldplay can go back to making true masterpieces again. I agree with you, they need to have a Viva moment sometime in the future and do a change of direction. Ambient maybe? Ambient-rock even? That would be awesome, and prove that Coldplay still have true artistic integrity and are never scared and always willing to try new rhings. Look it up, it's an amazing genre, a cross between the cool electronic sounds of Ambient and the more rock style. Or, they can choose to go back to their roots as well. However I'd love to see even more variety than Coldplay now rather than something they've already done before. Although I'd love for them to go back to their roots. That's never going to happen however, because for one they never do the same things twice, and now I just feel like they've lost some of their songwriting abilities as well. I could be wrong however. Also Chris voice is so strained from all these world stadium tours that now it's just not as good. Still forever better than mine, but now it's just strained, worse than before, and even if he tried the songs just wouldn't be as good because of that. For example. Fix You, he just can't sing it as well anymore, he recorded that when he still had his "best" voice. It can still be good, but for example Everglow shows just how damaged his vocals are. It's so sad and unfortunate to see that as he grows older and does more of these tours, his vocals are only getting worse. :( This tour is just going to make it worse, it'll be even more strained and damaged... :( But this is definetely the last world tour and last "pop" album they're doing. May as well enjoy it because there's only one more of it! :D There's no way that past 40 they're going to act like 20 years old and do more pop albums and stadium tours like they're still young. Just not happening. I find it weird that as Chris growed older he acted younger... he quite literally actually made more mature content back in his younger years, now he's singing about Feeling drunk and high and you make my heart ba boom ba boom boom and I feel my heart beat beneath my skin to make me feel alive again and that I've always wanted to feel this way, amazing day, amazing Day! It's not that that's bad, it's just a little funny thing I noticed. It also sucked to see them say that they feel that rock music has been done. It's kind of true in a way and I understand the want to do something new but I'd still really like to see them go back to their roots at some point even though I know it won't happen and even if it did the content wouldn't be as good. I know this is a long post but hopefully you read it. :P- ===The Ultimate Coldplaying Thread===S, BS, BR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM, MX, GS, AHFOD===
Yay at least they actually won an award this time Round ^ :D :D :D Watched the HFTW performance official recording, truly outstanding. Loved it. Too bad you couldn't hear the crowd. You could kind of hear the song too much in it. The live version is definetely very good... improved a lot from their first time around, Chris going off tune all the time lol. It was also much more explosive this time around, especially the second time was exactly what I'd hoped to see with the confetti and everything. Very nice perfomance, definetely deserved the Best British Band award. Too bad they lost to Adele in the album award but then again her album actually might be better... (haven't listeneed to it yet, will have to give it a try) - LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
