Does Keane still sound like Coldplay ? (Hamburg Song = Life is For Living??)
I know there is another thread about Keane being sick of Coldplay comparisons, but I read how they were sick of it, and I thought to myself ... hmm, is the new album totally or even slightly different from Coldplay? That's debatable, and is being debated in the other thread. However, I more wanted to talk about Hamburg Song. Is it just me, or does the song have a remarkable similarity to Life is For Living?? to me the organ sound is soo similar! anyways let me know what you think.

Chris Martin Song Dropped From Furtado Album For Being 'Too Rocky'
So has anyone heard this track yet? Because I got the new Nelly Furtado album last night, and I've listened to the whoel thing. Its pretty good. Some of the tracks are absolutely sick. "All Good Things Come To An End" is one of the best tracks on the album, and I can totally picture Chris' voice on it. Listening to the lyrics I'm sure that he wrote a good chunk of them too, becuase they're different from what Nelly would traditionally write. Anyways, the song is not "rocky" at all. Its one of the softest songs on the album. I really don't see how Chris' voice could have sounded rocky!! Basically EMI, as always, have been huge dicks. Listen to it yourselves and let me know what you think. I honestly think that its a bit ridiculous. If you aren't able to find the track I'll post it tonight.

The official **KEANE** thread
Yeah i also got it yesterday, and i have many oppinions about it. Generally I like it. I think some of their choices, arangements and instrumentations are fantastic. I like the variety of instruments used as well. Out of the norm .. I very much like the instrumental "Under the iron sea" its very "artsy" if you will. There are a couple tracks which are good, but just a bit blah, kind of just standard keane, and not very adventureous. That would be my main criticism. "Used to be a lovely boy" would have been a great substitute for one of these songs. I think "Nothing In My Way" should have been substituded for this one. My favorites are: 1. Atlantic 2. Frog Prince 3. Broken Toy 4. Crystall Ball 5. A Bad Dream but like i said, generally a good album.

Sufjan Stevens
I love the Adult Contemporary and Multiple Personality Disorder versions of Chicago.

The official **KEANE** thread
I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but there are about three or for torrent sites with "Under the Iron Sea" listed. If you go to http://www.torrent-finder.com and search for keane, you'll see them all. I don't know whether or not this is legit..... any word on whether it has actually leaked yet?

The official **KEANE** thread
Yeah . . IS IT?! I like Keane, but I'm not really in-the-loop on leaks and what-not to do with them!

Last Album that you bought/acquired?
I should have probably elaborated a bit. Islands is a new band formed by members of the Unicorns and other Canadian artists (including members of the Arcade Fire).
-
Last Album that you bought/acquired?
Aren't the Unicorns the bomb? If you like them, I hope you have "Return to the Sea" by the Islands.

Ladder to the Sun Question
Well they have recorded the song in the studio, it just hasn't been released. Its been heard by a small crowd of people close to the band. There was a rumour that it might make it to the next album .. though I sincerely doubt it - it may, however, be a B-side in the future.
-
Matisyahu?
Yeah Matisyahu is pretty good. But for the record, Matisyahu is one person, who plays with a band. All his live shows and studio material are with a band, but Matisyahu refers to the one Rasta-Jew
-
Sufjan Stevens
Yeah I agree TLo. By the way TLo let me know how the Matt Costa show is. He was just in Toronto, but I couldn't get tickets. I will be seeing him in July when he comes back though! I'm pumped for it. By the way do you have the original "Songs We Sing" ? I realized that I have a reissued version, which has a different tracklist, and different versions.

Hmm i don't know, i like a bunch of the songs on Mars. I think they're both good, but there are probably a couple songs here and there that are samey

Sufjan Stevens
Just been listening to the Avalanche. Excellent Sufjan work once again. I love all of it! Especially having multiple versions of Chicago, so exciting! Coldplay should take a leaf out of his book, and start sharing more with the fans! I'd love all the outakes and versions of their tracks!

Gnarls Barkley
Yeah St. Elsewhere is crazyyy. Something about it reminds me of Andre 3000; both Cee Lo and Andre seem to be trying to do something totally different with hip hop, and they're both succeeding. Crazy is just a ridiculously catchy song. Get the song, and listen to the live version: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wcOabajz8I8&search=gnarls%20barkley what a powerful live voice! my second favorite track is probably Gone Daddy Gone. But they are all gold!

Arcade Fire
I really like "Intervention" one of my favorite songs, and its one of their newest. It would be nice if it were to make it to the new album, I'd like to hear a studio version of it. But either way, great track! I also like "Sonata" "Winter for a Year" "Accidents" "The Great Arcade Fire" "The Woodland National Anthem" "No Cars Go" "Sleeping In a Submarine" and everything off Funeral!

'In The Sun' with Micheal Stipe
Oh and there are a series of different tracks on the In The Sun EP. If you're talking about the live version featuring all of Coldplay, that was recorded at Austin City Limits, and released as part of Michael Stipe's Charity EP for Hurricane Katrina victims
