  1. now i know what i'll be listening to, exclusively, until the album drops. and i love it.
  2. Gwen's getting back into acting right now, and so her agents and PR people are probably pushing her to do pieces like this to increase her public exposure and get back into the public eye, so that her re-entrance isn't a total flop.
  3. haha, Asian you joker. like how I beat you to the post here eh.
  4. I posted this in the multimedia section, but I thought I'd post it here too. http://www.zshare.net/audio/3343558cc310f8/ Homecoming! What do you all think? (Thanks go to KanyeTalk.com and iTunes UK)
  5. no it hasn't! I'll try to post it, and if not IT, then most definitely "Homecoming" as soon as it does. rest assured. The album is to be released in 19 days, so the leak is just a few days away.

Yeah it's coming out this year, latest rumors are October. Brian Eno is on board as a producer for the album. So far the following tracks are speculated to be on it: Bucket For a Crown Mining on the Moon The Fall of Man The Butterfly (I Shall Be Released)? (Don't know about that one) There was also some talk before that the following old tracks would be re-recorded and perhaps re-worked for this album: Solid Ground Ladder to the Sun How You See The World Gravity
  7. That set list is ridonculous they totally changed it up from what they've been doing this whole tour! I'm pretty sure the reports of upset fans in Chile did it to them. niiiiice.
  8. I'm going to the show in Paris in March!! I'm really happy for those of you who got tickets for the UK though, those sold out much more quickly compared to the france shows! Does ANYONE have "Ocean of Noise" ???? It leaked and I'm desperately trying to find it. Someone at the arcadefire fan site told me that you can find it by searching on google. anyoneeE?!
  9. The album got a terrible review on pitchfork. check it out.

lol, sometimes I read reviews like that and just laugh ... as i just have. It's weird how you can become a music journalist for a newspaper like the NYPost and still not have a clue about what good music is. "Beach Chair" is not for everyone, but to say that its horrible is just false. Technically speaking it is a very well done track, well produced, creative chords. The fact that it is a manufactured beat made by two producers in two different countries, who didn't even speak about their vision for the track, doesn't even affect the quality of the song instrumentally - this is largely because two of the most innovative, progressive and popularly accepted artists of the past decade (in Dre's case more than a decade) worked on it. But I mean think about it, Chris writing the chords, playing them on the synth, and adding vocals, and then dre adding strings and drums to it. Anyways, the lyrics of the song are also what make Beach Chair not for everyone. A lot of typical Jay-Z fans are going to find it hard to accept a humble, emotionally explicit Jigga. A lot of Chris fans listen to the song expecting to hear something less bass and percussion heavy. But it doesnt change the fact that the song is solid. I'm a big fan haha, as everyone whose read this thread knows I guess ...

Pitchfork is always very harsh with their reviews. Basically to get a good review on pitchfork you need to be a new indie band. Very few commercially successful artists get really good reviews there, although some do, like Justin Timberlake. You should read their Coldplay reviews - ouch.

Woah, its crazy how quickly threads move down in this forum. Basically I'm just posting to keep this one high up, so that someone will answer my question!

I don't know if this has been talked about in this thread, but does anyone have the new Albert Hammond Jr. album "Yours to Keep" ? He's the guitarist for the Strokes, and I've heard a couple songs off the album - i like what i hear. So if any of you have it/a link for it, could you share!?
  18. Yeah, "Beach Chair" and "Dry Your Eyes" aren't examples of ghost writing because, in the former, he's featured on the song singing what he wrote, and in the latter, he didn't actually write the chorus that he sung, it was already written before Chris hopped on the track. Gravity, for Embrace, is an example, Jamelia is also. Another example is Nelly Furtado's "All Good Things Come to an End". He wrote quite a few lyrics for that song, but Nelly sings it in the album version.

Yeah I can name you a good rap recording from this year. "Atlantis: Hymns for Disco" by k-Os. Or Mood Ruff's new album. Or "Food and Liquor" by Lupe. Rap as we used to know it is dead. I would agree with you that a lot of new rap, if not most of it, is total shit, especially when compared to early-to-mid 90s rap. But Rap is in a transition phase to finding new sounds and methods, and the artists that I named above are pioneering this move. The reason I like Jay-Z is because he represents an ability to embrace this change in rap with what we liked in mid-90s rap, and still make it critically and commercially acceptable. Granted the level to which he embraces the changes in rap is not huge, especially when compared to some of his contemporaries like Kanye, but its still something to be noted.

I definitely have Reasonable Doubt, and have had it for years. Solid album, but when you consider the overall effect of an album - Blueprint: full of diss songs, great new producers, a few club bangers and an overall return to Jay-Z street style (versus his pop style); Black Album: Amazing production, different from anything out there at the time, huge presence in the music scene from the day it came out, inspired several mash albums etc... - Reasonable Doubt just doesn't stand up to those two. In my mind, its his 3rd best album. And "Kingdom Come" is his 4th.
  21. d.B.g replied to d.B.g's topic in Coldplay
Yeah I agree that this isn't his best album, in the lyrical and production sense. Black Album was his most well produced album, and Blueprint was his best lyrically (and great production there). However, there are still quite a few stand out tracks on this album. Considering the fact that Jay-Z has very little to talk about that is considered "credible" in the world of rap now, he has less subject matter to work with, but still manages not to come off as a poppy, club banger only, artist like LL is now. The Prelude Oh My God Kingdom Come Lost Ones Do U Wanna Ride Dig A Hole Minority Report and Beach Chair are all solid tracks in terms of lyrical and production strength. The only track that I find questionable is the Usher, Pharrell track. It IS very poppy, and too light I find. 30 Something is like Jay's new Big Pimpin for a new age, its kind of cool in that way.

oh and to answer the questions. its Chris. Beyonce just says that one line.
  23. d.B.g replied to d.B.g's topic in Coldplay
i can't believe someone said the track was shit. this is fantastic. i love it. i love chris' vocals on it. i love the strings, and the hook. and the chords that chris wrote are great. dre's drums are soo on point as well. nothing too complicated, just what is needed. i'm downloading the rest of the album right now.
  24. d.B.g replied to d.B.g's topic in Coldplay
What part of that album do you have? the title track "Kingdom Come", "Lost Ones" and "Show me What You Got" are all leaked so far, but I think thats it .... if you have any others please do tell..!
  25. d.B.g replied to d.B.g's topic in Coldplay
The tracklist for Kingdom Come has been confirmed: Disc 1: 1. "The Prelude" (Produced by Ghettobot) 2. "Oh My God" (Produced by Just Blaze) 3. "Kingdom Come" (Produced by Just Blaze) 4. "Show Me What You Got" (Produced by Just Blaze) 5. "Lost Ones" (featuring Chrissette Michelle) (Produced by Dr. Dre) 6. "Do U Wanna Ride" (featuring John Legend) (Produced by Kanye West) 7. "30 Something" (Produced by Dr. Dre) 8. "I Made It" (Produced by Dr. Dre) 9. "Anything" (featuring Usher & Pharrell) (Produced by The Neptunes) 10. "Hollywood" (featuring Beyonce) (Produced by Scyience) 11. "Trouble" (Produced by Dr. Dre) 12. "Dig a Hole" (featuring Sterling Simms) (Produced by Swizz Beatz) 13. "Minority Report" (featuring Ne-Yo) (Produced by Dr. Dre) 14. "Beach Chair" (featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay) (Produced by Chris Martin) Disc 2: 1. "Politics as Usual" (Re-recorded Version, Bonus Track) 2. "Can't Knock the Hustle" (featuring Beyonce) (Re-recorded Version) 3. "Can I Live" (Re-recorded Version, Bonus Track) "Beach Chair" is the official name of the collaboration between Martin and Jay-Z and its the album closer, which is big! Its not being credited as a Dr. Dre/Chris Martin production it seems, but there is A LOT of Dre produciton on this album, which is odd considering the fact that the two have barely worked together in the past. The album is due out in two weeks, and the fact alone that they've been able to keep the tracklist under such tight raps until now is impressive. However, with as much hype as there has been around the comeback, I think it should leak within the next week.
