What albums are you most looking forward to in 2006?
Hey Corum, You've got a pretty comprehensive list there. I started a topic a little while back now about this: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27070&highlight=highly-anticipated There are some albums there that don't have official release dates as yet, and others that may not have been on your list. Also, check out http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Releases/ they have all the latest CD releases there for North America. Some of the albums you listed have been leaked, and I've got them, and I can say they are very good. The new Flaming Lips, Ben Harper are excellent. The new Prince has leaked as well. Other than that, it should be a great year of music!

Changes for Toronto DVD
Realistically, they are going to play all their singles from X&Y (Speed of Sound, Fix You, Talk and Hardest Part). I don't think we really need to debate the Hardest Part thing too much ... Also, a defining feature of this tour so far has been the "country corner" or whatever you want to call it, where they gather in their huddle on the stage for the acoustic set. The whole inspiration for this was Til Kingdom Come, and they like playing Ring of Fire, as it is an obvious and fun segue from Til Kingdom Come. So we can expect both of those. The rest of the acoustic set is a bit up in the air. I think we might see some changes here (it won't be a passed b-side like See You Soon, it will definitely be either Trouble, Green Eyes, Warning Sign, Sparks or We Never Change). Songs that will be played for sure: Square One. Politik as the intro - they love it. Obviously Yellow, GPASUYF, White Shadows, Scientist, Clocks, and those others that I think everyone knows will be in the set. I'm fairly confident they'll play X&Y, because it's the title track, and it is the tour supporting the album X&Y ... In My place and Fix You will close the encore, again as everyone expects. How You See The World will probably be played, but I have a feeling that it won't be the live single. It's already been a bonus track, and been on the War Child CD, so I don't think that based on how they've done things in the past, they'll have it be the single. In that case, what will the live single be? It won't be Pour Me, they already have that as a bside, it won't be Proof, they've played it on the AROBTTH tour. I think whatever it is, we will start to hear it in the next few gigs leading up to toronto. If we don't get anything new in the next little bit, I guess its How You See The World!

More info on Chris Martin and Kanye
As we all heard a few days ago, Chris Martin and Kanye West had a spontaneous "jamming" session in London, around the time of the Britts. Kanye was there recording the MI 3 theme song and Chris had just rapped up an interview. Now wikipedia reports: "The album (Kanye's next album Graduation, slated for release in December of 2006) could possibly feature a song recorded with Chris Martin during a spontaneous "jamming session" with the Coldplay frontman. The song, recorded on the morning of the 21st of February 2006, in London, England, is known to be called "Homecoming", and thus could be related to either the song "Home" from West's demo album Freshmen Adjustment or West's college-themed albums and songs." So it looks like the song is called "Homecoming" and for those of you who haven't heard "Home" you should check it out if you're a Kanye fan!

The Cover of the New Album
They are a big fan of cover art, and as we know, use the theme for the album on all their singles from that album. From Parachutes to X&Y they started with a sort of natural theme, like a theme of geography and nature and their cover art was all photo manipulated. AROBTTH covers were much more abstract, used pencil art and was generall more delicate. Last X&Y art has been the most explicit in its meaning. It has focussed on simple computer animation, linked to a code that we all know now. The emphasis of this art seems to be on contrast in simple statements (there are two sides, color vs. black and white, all contrast, in expressing a single word, like talk, or fix). All three seem to share a theme of understanding relativity, perspective and beauty (all refelcted in the actual content of the albums as well). However, these are all part of a trilogy, as the band has stated, and therefore future art work will probably reflect a new theme... anyways, that's enough analysis for now ..

What exactly is going on with Coldplay?
There has been a lot of talk about these issues in several different threads, but I'm just very confused about all the different rumours/press releases/statements made by the band in the past few weeks and months. First of all, Chris Martin has said that we will not see the band for a long time (Britts) but then he's also said that they plan on releasing a new album within a year's time. He's said that they're going on a break, but he's also said that they want to continue touring until they release their new album, and tour right through. There's also been rumours that Coldplay will take a break, and Chris will record with other artists (like Kanye) and that he'll take time with his growing family. Guy has said that they would like to start churning out albums more quickly, and that they are not satisfied with just having 3 so far. They've all denied the fact that they're splitting up. So what is it? When do you think we'll get a new album from them, and why do you think that Chris has been all over the place in his statements?

The Hardest Part B-Sides?
Thanks for the clarification! I really hoped that DAN didn't mean a blend of both those tracks! So if the singer from Embrace heard Solid Ground, that means there is in fact a studio version! I really hope this ends up as a b-side either on The Hardest Part single or the next one (if they have a next one). And about How You See The World, I'm just going by what Chris said in an interview that's been posted on this site. He stated that they regretted leaving many tracks off X&Y, and that those tracks may well end up on their next album, one of them being How You See The World! I also find it unlikely, because it was a bonus track, and a charity track, and they play it live all the time now ... but we'll see!

The Hardest Part B-Sides?
How You See The World reworked version of Solid Ground? I don't really see a connection between the two songs. The subject matter and composition of both songs is totally different. Will was saying HYSTW would be a b-side a while back, but more recently, Chris has said that it would be on their next album ... so I don't know if they'll release it as a b-side ... Solid Ground would be the most amazing b-side. Ihad no idea that Embrace had heard this track, where did the lead singer's quote come from ?

The "Best Of" Coldplay
Assuming it's only songs on their albums: 1. Politik 2. Trouble 3. Amsterdam 4. We Never Change 5. Fix You 6. Til Kingdom Come 7. Warning Sign 8. Clocks 9. The Scientist 10. Yellow 11. Spies 12. Twisted Logic Bonus: X&Y From all work (bsides and albums) it's very very tough to narrow it down to 13, but here is what I would put at this moment (I say at this moment, because it changes every 5 minutes): 1. Crest of Waves 2. Gravity 3. Ladder to the Sun (Studio) 4. I Ran Away 5. Trouble 6. Sparks 7. The Scientist 8. Warning Sign 9. White Shadows 10. Swallowed In The Sea 11. Twisted Logic 12. See You Soon 13. Animals 14. For You 15. How You See The World Bonus: Sleeping Sun

What Should Be The Name Of The 4th Album
Educating the Masses seems a bit presumptuous to me, but Modern Warfare would be an amzing album name. That kind of album would definitely symbolize a move in the band's content that I've been waiting for!

The Hardest Part B-Sides?
I don't think they'll release Idiot, only because the band have talked about the fact that they dont like that song .. but you never know!

The Hardest Part B-Sides?
We may as well start a thread about this, now that we know its going to be the 4th single. I'm wondering if we'll get one or two b-sides. My greatest hope is that Ladder to the Sun makes it on there!! I love that song sooo much, and I would be really upset if they didn't release it as one! What else do you all think they could have on there? Sweet Marianne? Echo My Name? Fury? Blasphemy? (If those songs even exist!)

What Should Be The Name Of The 4th Album
- 4th Album
When they say hip hop and country, they don't mean they'll be rapping over gangsta beats, and singing keith urban songs. I think its more just taking a little influence, like they did with Kraftwerk influencing Talk, or Brian Eno and Bowie on X&Y. More importantly though, I don't think its a huge deal if they have less piano. I think it would be cool if they started using different instruments. I really think that having strings would intensify their ballads and could give them cool new sounds. Also when I heard that they wanted to have a brass band on Solid Ground, I thought that idea was amazing! I think that Coldplay could definitely work with horns and trumpets and all that good stuff.- Official Juno Awards Thread
They're doing Square One at the Britts?! Since when? Is it confirmed?- Official Juno Awards Thread
If they went beyond a fourth single, they wouldn't release it anywhere outside Europe. They still don't get the radio play in North America that would make a fifth single successful. If you look at where X&Y singles have been on the charts so far, Speed of Sound did well, while Fix You and Talk have not really ... But releasing a lot of singles would be cool! Though it hasn't really been their style in the past. I know a lot of people are speculating The Hardest Part, but I'm not convinced that this is very official. I've never heard the band talk about this song once in an interview, aside from when they were explicitly asked about it around the time of the album's release. The band's favorite songs out of those unrleased: Chris - A Message, What If Will - White Shadows Johnny - Low, White Shadows, What If Guy - Low (not positive about this) I'm basing this on a bunch of stuff I've read that they've said etc...- Official Juno Awards Thread
I think it's safe to say that they'll play something other than Talk, Fix You or Speed of Sound by then, and that if their next single isn't out yet, that performance will be indicative of what the 4th single will be. My guess is Swallowed In The Sea or White Shadows, but I guess that's everyone's guess for next single!- Rate what the user above is listening
9/10 I love the shins Stars - Your Ex-lover is dead- cd's you bot
First Coldplay CD I bought was AROBTTH and the last was X&Y. In general, first CD I bought was probably Michael Jackson's Thriller, back when I was a young'n and the last ones I bought were The Arcade Fire EP Re-Mastered, and Imogen Heap's new one.- What Should Be The Name Of The 4th Album
I like that one!- What Should Be The Name Of The 4th Album

I was on the eskimofriends board (Damien Rice's fan site) and that's where I saw that it was recently announced that he would be releasing a new album this year. He's been working on it for a while, and so I think that we can expect it sometime in the summer or fall, hopefully!! - 4th Album
