You're right it doesn't. Again it's a matter of opinion. They are bound to lose some old fans and maybe gain some new ones. It's about development as musicians too. I'd be more inclined to label them 'sell outs' if they stuck to the same formula album after album.

They won't be able to please everyone no matter how hard they try. It's a no win situation. They'd have have critics going on about how they are boring and always sticking to the same sound if they didn't try something different. I'd certainly be a LOT less excited about Viva if the first single was similar to something from X&Y.

It's pretty instant for me, more so than SOS. I like it. Somewhere in between options 1 and 2. Better than just 'ok' but certainly not their best.

Starting to feel the buzz of excitement waiting for this one. Doesn't seem long ago we were all waiting for X&Y. I'm disappointed Leftrightleftrightleft and poppy fields aren't on anymore. They sounded intriguing. Hopefully they'll be b-sides.

Good to hear the crowd enjoyed it. I guess you can't really expect too much from late stand-ins. Must have been tough. Did you get to practice together at all?

No one seems to care about poor little tiger Tim. He used to be quite good about 7 or 8 years ago, but the game has moved on. Can't really see people getting excited about this andy murray fellow. He's a lot boring.
