🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
2024 is not soon, but it could perhaps mean 2nd of April or 4th of February in 2020. That would be very soon.
- This or That?

Coldplay on Quotidien TMC (French TV) 9-12-2019
This is very sad. Was it the first time that two members of the band refused to play? Jonny and Chris, bless them, they made the audience happy.

Yes, it should have been on many hours ago, 17:25 SAST means 15:25 GMT. And SowetoTV doesn't give any hint as to why it wasn't online.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
I think those comments about Glastonbury and about the Superbowl performance hurt Chris deeply. He always says that criticism doesn't get him, and normally it doesn't, but these remarks really hurt him. But it wasn't because of these Tweets that Coldplay doesn't play Glastonbury this year. They just weren't asked, because when the list of participants was published the organizers didn't yet know whether Coldplay had new music, as their 8th album hadn't been released.

I also think that was a strange statement. The interviewer doesn't seem to know much about album making. And I agree that it could have been so much more because Chris was really into talking. The interviewer asked Chris questions that have so often been asked. He seemed to have listened to the new album only superficially. That's why he didn't ask any interesting questions about it. I would have liked to know something about the development of the album, the dynamics within the band, which of the band members added what to the songs etc. etc. At the end there was one interesting sentence, though. Chris said that they still wanted to reach as many people as wanted to be reached by making records and traveling around. So they may go on tour again, but then of course Chris will have to prove that it can be done eco-friendly, which will be difficult.

Live at the Natural History Museum London 25 Nov 2019
This is just awesome, Thank you so very much for uploading the whole concert and sharing it with us. This means so much for us here as we will never see this era of the band live. I am so gld for you that you were able to attend the concert.

Thank you so much, Stephen. This was way beyond my expectations, I didn't think you would answer me in such detail. I am so glad the atmosphere was good. The band only had these two shows, in Jordan and in London, and it would have been so sad for them if the audience had not been responding well. I love that album so much! My favourite songs are Arabesque, Daddy, Everyday Life, Orphans, When I Need a friend, BroKen, ... well, all of them. I am so astonished that after so many years the band can still surprise me. I do hope there will be another album and a tour, though I understand their ecological concerns. Do you have the impression that they will tour again or will they just be grateful for the stadium success they had and from now on only play the music they love in small venues? Thanks again very much.

Thank you very much for the detailed report. I am glad you had a great time and the organisation wasn't as bad as you could read on the internet. Could you please tell us something about the atmosphere, the band and the songs? Were the listeners into the music? I read some of them left the room before the end. You were close to the band. Did they enjoy themselves? Did they give their best? Was there a good interaction between them? Was the music live as good as on the album? Which song did you enjoy the most, which the least? Why did the members of Coldplay not speak to the invited guests at the party? That surely was disappointing, wasnt it? Who said that this was the last show? Chris formerly said there would be about 7 small shows. You neednt answer all the questions, just the ones you would like to answer. Thank you in advance.

Live at the Natural History Museum London 25 Nov 2019
Here's the full text, but I am not sure I am allowed to post it here. If not, delete it. Coldplay review — Chris Martin and co emerged well from their ethical downsizing ★★★★☆ Chris Martin leant into the microphone and gave a smile. “Normally we’d have some fireworks at this point.” Not tonight. This, if you believe the PR, was the first step in Coldplay’s planet-saving reinvention. The biggest stadium band in the world are trying to reduce their carbon footprint, so this relatively tiny show and one earlier in the week in Jordan are all we are getting for the moment to support their new album, Everyday Life. *full text removed*

Sustainable touring
These are some very interesting ideas but I wouldn't go as far as calling a Coldplay concert a 'necessary evil' for raising money for environmental charity groups (some of which are advocating violence). As Chris said, we shouldn't be over-zealous. We live in a digital age where real life matters less and less. A live concert by Coldplay is still something that I wouldn't like to miss out on.

Everyday Life - Live in Jordan on YouTube 22 Nov
We must remember it was only the second time they played for an all-Arab audience (the first being in Dubai) and of course they wanted to make sure the majority of the crowd knew at least some of the songs. SJLT is their biggest hit as far as sales and downloads are concerned so it was understandable that they included it into the setlist. That 3rd concert in Jordan was a risk to some degree as the audience's reaction was not entirely predictable. I don't think the people were specially selected, everyone could buy a ticket. I know from experience that mentalities differ a lot between western and middle-east people. The fact that the audience responded so well and with so much joy shows that Coldplay's music is really universal, and that makes them outstanding and great.

Everyday Life - Live in Jordan on YouTube 22 Nov
As we could read in today's article about Coldplay in The Sunday Times Chris had completely lost his voice a week ago and I am astonished that he was able to do the three concerts in Jordan. It was of course noticeable that he had vocal problems but luckily he managed to 'survive'.

2019-11-24 The Sunday Times Coldplay interview
Thanks very much! At least a good article without the usual Coldplay bashing. Poor Chris, only a week before the performance in Jordan he lost his voice. That's why his voice wasn't as good as it normally is. Btw has anybody a video of the concert yesterday?

Everyday Life - press/reviews
That is soo true :grinning: There is for example an article in 'Die Zeit', a German quality paper with the headline 'The Gospel According To Martin'. The journalist writes a lengthy very foolish article about Coldplay finally coming to the conclusion that the band in the course of their career never changed. But for 'Everyday Life' the journalist says: 'Warum nicht gleich so?' (Why not like this straight away?', which implies this is Coldplay's best album, but contradicts the whole article. The journalist seems to be very proud of himself which, I think, is the case with many music critics.

Flags - Sunset - Bonus track (Japan exclusive)
I feel the same, and I can understand why that song is not on the album. It might have been too 'poppy' and not 'experimental' enough. It's probably one of the songs Chris liked but the band didn't. so as a compromise it was put on as a secret bonus track.

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
It's funny, the more I listen to the album the more I like it. I didn't like 'Church' very much when I first heard it but now it's one of my favourites

This message: 'GOD IS LOVE', Chris got it tattooed on the inside of his left upper arm (as a cover up of the 'G' he had for Gwyneth)

Random Coldplay thoughts...
You are right, Chris has changed a lot, no more joking, no more laughing and he seems so very thin-skinned, though he says he doesn't mind criticism. He was heavily criticised for his two appearances on the last Galstonbury Festival and it might be that his bandmates criticised him as well for doing so many small gigs during the last summer, and always on his own without the band. Maybe there are difficult things going on in his personal life, who knows. But his refusal to play Glastonbury may also result from the fact that they won't have enough songs which they could play. Hardly any song from the new album would be suitable for Glastonbury.

Everyday Life - Live in Jordan on YouTube 22 Nov
Have been watching the live performance from 5 o'clock in the morning and don't regret to having set my alarm clock so early in the morning. I am also glad I didn't listen to the leaked songs. I am still overwhelmed about the whole concert, the atmosphere, the songs, the band playing from Jordan from the 'middle of the world', as Chris put it, to the whole world about the life of everybody everywhere at the beginning of a new day. It all makes sense and is absolutely beautiful. I have no time for more comments, off to work now. Arabesque is great!!
