Party Like it's 1999...
:laugh3: If you made a thread like this every 10,000 posts you'd still end up with more than me :P Personally, I prefer listening to talking. :lipsrsealed2:

[NEWS] Peter Van Wood: 'Coldplay copied me'
I was going to go for slightly senile... he seems to believe it, and at his age I can understand why. But I'm sure you're right as well. But there has to be an inflated sense of self worth at work as well for him to think they would copy him...

[NEWS] Peter Van Wood: 'Coldplay copied me'
Well, based on that video clip, I'd say he has nothing... The chords are different. The tune does get progressively lower in both songs, but in a different way. The one real similarity is that both songs use two phrases with eight syllables, making the lyrics interchangeable between the two songs. Anyone who has had to study meter (rhythm) in poetry class could tell you why that would happen, and that it happens all the time. 8 syllables (4 metrical feet) creates a stable pleasing line of poetry or song with a whole range of possibilities for rhythm depending on which syllables are emphasized. It's pretty standard, and for a good songwriter it would be entirely subconscious. And actually, even the rhythm within the lines is different. I could see how on the surface someone who wasn't really listening and knew both songs could have their brains jumble the songs up, but I doubt that Chris has ever even heard his song.

Party Like it's 1999...
YAAAAA!!!! :juggle: :juggle: :juggle: 2000! Only took me about 2 1/2 years. I made it. I actually made it! :smug2:    Let the party begin!   Ok, so it's a silly thread... but it took me a long freaking time to get 2000 posts, and I never notice milestones. And it'll probably be another year before I get anywhere near 3000. So I'm noticing it now! And now, just because I haven't used it before, and always wanted an excuse, I'll leave you with this cute hat: :hat2: P.S. I brought cake!

Takk vs. My Iron Lung
I have both I love both, but given the choice again, I'd go with Takk. The ep is great, but it is mainly a collection of b-sides. Takk is a full album and a cohesive masterpiece. At the very least Takk has more songs. ;)

What artist can't you stop listening to today?
Blondie :D

Dollar plunges to fresh euro low
Heh... when the Canadian dollar is worth 1.03 US you know something is wrong... Goodness, when I was in highschool, it was barely worth more than sixty cents... :worried: I mean, it's nice that things are actually affordable for a change, but... Not good.

Squirrel pancake, anyone??
Are grey squirrels just universal bullies then? I know they have a problem with them further south... around here we just have red squirrels (though a totally different kind than that picture)

Britons may be forced to only drink UHT milk 'to save the planet'
No clue what UHT milk is, but it sounds disgusting. If it doesn't go bad, it can't be good for you...

Radiohead
Does anyone remember this interview Thom and Jonny did in June 06? http://www.soundopinions.org/archive/2006/june.html#guestradiohead I remembered that they had suggested that Radiohead release their next album themselves on their website, although the guys were sort of not so keen on the idea at the time. Listening to that (quite long and very interesting) conversation again it's freakishly prophetic- And I quote: “…It’s inevitable that one day soon Radiohead or a band like you will say ‘Ok, come to radiohead.com and our album is here for X dollars’, and it’ll sell 500,000 in the first week and that’ll be the end of the way the music industry has worked now for a hundred years and screwed thousands of artists.” The section starts at about 8:00 in the short version or 13:00 in the long version. ...also a really funny part in the long version of Jonny talking about chickens of all things...

Would you marry a robot??
 I wondered if it was you! How DO you always manage to sound like yourself, anyway? Welcome back- you've been missed.

So how much did you pay for In Rainbows?
A little less than itunes- about 8 bucks- I don't see the point of paying full price for a download when you only get half of the song (bitrate and all), have to burn the cd youself, and miss out on artwork, liner notes, lyrics... Long live the album! Hoping to get it on vinyl when I can afford it.

The Radiohead - In Rainbows Thread
I have to say, Reckoner is quickly becoming a massive surprise favorite. Don't know anything about the original live versions... didn't like the youtube clip of it I saw... But WOW. I love it so much. :smug2:

Radiohead
Yeah binaural. I'd say the piano on Videotape was recorded like that- it sounds so *right there* and alive with headphones and a bit flat without them. There's a couple of others that sound quite different with and without headphones. It's weird but cool.
