4th album title 'A New Finding'?
'A New Finding'? :dozey: Sorry to sound all negative, but that honestly has to be one of the dumbest fake names I've heard in a while.

Ooh... I didn't realise that came out this year. *adds to list*

THAT FROZENENTERTAINMENT
The funniest thing about this is that not only is it a spam thread, but it's a spam thread that already existed... http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2096609 :uhoh: :P

New film codenamed "Cloverfiled" looks really unsettling!
Oh wow! Drew Goddard wrote that! :wideeyed: Definatly going to be worth watching whatever it ends up being about. Buffy fans don't call him 'Ultimate Drew' for nothing. He's written some of the funniest, oddest, most messed up episodes of the tv series he's worked on and they were generally pretty weird to begin with. (He started out as one of Joss Wheadon's discoveries for anyone still scratching their heads.) And I'd say JJ has learned a thing or two about viral marketing from working on Lost... http://www.1-18-08.com/ Zuh? Thanks for the heads up! :nice:

School bans pupils from hugging!!
We had a six inch rule (basically no touching) at my high school, but it wasn't that bad. The problem with so many schools who have these rules is that there is already one of those ridicuous zero tolerance policies in place. When a couple of friends were excited and gave each other a hug or a high five or something, the teachers would know what was up and wouldn't care. If some people were making a real scene about something, they may have been gently reminded that there was a six inch rule after a bit, but they wouldn't get a detention or anything.

who'd have thought it.....
It's a good way to deal with things... hard to be afraid when you're laughing, and seeing how fear is the point, it means they lost. And yes really... everytime I hear someone from Glasgow talking I have a hard time hearing what they're saying... I'm too busy melting.

This is not fairrrrrrrr.....
Hey, you're about the same height as me  But yeah, kind of random to stick unwitting patrons up on a website like that... you'd think they wouldn't want to scare regulars away... *shrugs*

Gordon Ramsay: 'Parents of obese children should be fined'
Dumb idea, doesn't really take things that contribute to obesity into account, like genetics and income (it costs alot more to eat healthy than eat crap).

Doctor Who ???......
I miss Rose :bigcry: Pity they can't just bring her back for a few episodes. The new girl is awesome though, as far as I can tell. We've just started the 3rd season here- episode 3 is next. But we are getting Torchwood this fall... hopefully will be interesting.

I thought K-os' album came out about a year ago...

who'd have thought it.....
Yeah, didn't get what was funny at first either... but I guess I see what you mean. Glasgow accents have to be my favorite in the universe... random thought to have considering what he's talking about, but still.... :nice:

Albums of the year so far
Maps - We Can Create Feist - The Reminder Travis - The Boy With No Name LCD Soundsystem - Sounds of Silver The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible The White Stripes - Icky Thump Blonde Redhead - 23 Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone Klaxons - Myths Of The Near Future The Bravery - The Sun and the Moon Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare The Shins - Wincing the Night Away Kaiser Chiefs - Yours Truly, Angry Mob Maps... if you haven't heard any of it yet, go listen. Seriously. Amazing stuff if it's your cup of tea. Best album I've heard in ages. Best this year for sure. :D Feist! The Bravery- oh stop laughing... it's actually worlds better than their first cd believe it or not... better than it deserves to be, anyway. I was shocked when I first heard it. Now I can't stop listening. :stunned: I'd take it over Sam's Town any day. Was the Klaxons' album actually released this year? I had never even heard of Blonde Redhead before (although apparently they've been around for a while), but I heard some of the new album and really loved it. Still want/need to listen to: Bloc Party - A Weekend In the City, Editors - An End Has A Start Overall, yeah it has to have been one of the bleakest years for new releases in a while. :disappointed: But I'm sure there are still a few gems out there.

Happy Canada Day to all the Canucks Out There!
Hope everyone's having fun. Just got back from a picnic, and I'll probably go down to the harbour to see the fireworks tonight. Good times.

question about music on the website
It's from the ending of a live version of Politik... from the things Chris is saying, I'm guessing it came from one of the shows they played there.

Ode to mooseheadsfan and Briggins
Depends on what you're doing. University ends around the beggining of May. But I took a summer class so I got out last friday. I don't remember when high school gets out... right about now, I think.

end of an era
Whoever first said that highschool was the best years of one's life deserves a swift kick to the head. I'm guessing that they were one of those super popular kids with no brains, imagination, skills, or anything that could make the real world even slightly livable or interesting. In my experience, being a teen sucked. As a 20 something you get to have all the fun a teen could, but with less angst and alot more freedom. And most 30 somethings I know say their 30s are their favorite so far, so there's something to look forward to, too. Of course big changes are going to bring a good dose of worry with them, but there's nothing to be scared of at uni... you don't know what you've been missing until you see for yourself. It's funny watching first years at college. They're all so cliquish and annoying at first, but by the end of the first semester they've finally gotten that highschool mentality out of their systems and have grown up quite a lot. Suddenly you're allowed to explore all this stuff and talk to all these amazing different people you never would have been 'allowed' to hang around with in highschool. For me, college meant meeting some of my best friends, discovering that there's a great local live music scene, knowing a gazillion times more about the world around me and why it's the way that it is, getting a better idea of who I am, just plain getting a clue.... Wouldn't go back to being a teen for the whole world.

What are you thinking right now?
I was thinking about something important, but then I saw the news about the Verve, and all other thoughts fled my head in the excitement. I really can't remember what it was now.
-
Ode to mooseheadsfan and Briggins
Heh, just give it a jumpstart now and then and it should be fine...

The Verve
:shocked2: !!! WOW. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this. Of all the reunion fever right now, this is by far the best imho. Richard Ashcroft has one of my favorite voices- so earthy and raw- but his solo stuff kind of sucks a bit. *picks self up off the floor, does a happy dance*

Milk to come in a bag!!
:laugh3: Milk has come in bags like that here for about as long as I can remember. It always cracks me up when people from somewhere else think it's such a novelty. Works just fine too. The only thing you have to be careful of is that it can potentially spoil faster - the bright lights in a grocery store make it age faster if the bag is transparent like the ones they sell here. That's why we still use cartons, we don't drink enough fast enough. But the one in the picture looks opaque, so it should be fine. That pic is misleading, though. You're supposed to drop the whole bag into the container, and then snip the corner. You don't pour it in out of the bag. Less mess that way.

Prospekt?
Phil Harvey was their first manager. He was an old friend of Chris' from highschool, I think, and he looked after them right up until they started working on arobtth. He took off to get a psychology degree if I remember right, but he's still the 5th member of the band, and he still has a lot of say in what they do.
