Yeah, it's really starting to get that creepy "the grownups are spying on us" feeling to it now. My Mom's on it now... but she isn't so bad at all we had a talk about it first and she only uses it to keep in touch with her far-away friends. It's my aunt who's the real problem... you feel funny not friending her where she's family, but she's nosy, and she's been known to lecture people about their language use on their own page- even if they're extended family she hasn't actually met!!! :veryangry::laugh3:

Wow... long time no posts... So, now that it's all down to Brazil who's going to win? Going to be tough to keep Hamilton from it- he has been the most consistant driver this year... as long as McLaren don't get up to any more *brilliant* :dozey: strategies like last race. Or he and Alonso could end up taking each other out... :stunned: That rivarly seems to get worse every week... sounds like Mclaren are going to send Alonso back to Renault next year. And of course all Kimi needs is for McLaren to have a rare bad day mechanically... it does happen...

I'm planning something a bit like what Nik did for the top albums anyway, though thanks for the offer. (I may need it in the end- I'm not quite sure how Nik managed it all...but I guess I'm going to find out! :laugh3:) I was thinking specifically more of albums that won't show up in the top 20 or 30. I remember last year's countdown, there were albums I discovered months later that had appeared at the bottom of the countdown and I wished that someone had made some noise about what they were back then so they wouldn't just be names on a list. If someone cares about an underappreciated album enough to write a blurb, I'd love to check it out, and it would be great to see it promoted in here BEFORE the deadline.

I had an idea... wondering what people think of it: I'm sure there are a lot of albums like that- great, but will undoubtedly end up far too low on the list. What if people wrote blurbs about favorite overlooked albums, and I could put links to those posts in the final countdown? For instance I would write one about the new Wintersleep album (which is gorgeous)- youtube links, reviews, maybe a bit about seeing them live... sort of an introduction to the band.

That picture reminds me of something I saw on one of the main streets downtown a couple of weeks ago... 2 buskers- one a bagpiper (a good one) in full dress; kilt and everything. The other was a hippy-ish type playing one of those drums. I don't know if they had planned the collaboration or not (it looked like they hadn't), but the drummer was doing all of these funky hip hop beats while the piper improvised to them- snatches of old tunes connected by some of his own stuff- all very celticy sounding. One of THE most amazing things I've seen in a long time. :laugh3: Only in Halifax... Anyway, that would be me appreciating live music here...

As long as there were 5 albums you at least somewhat liked, you can make a list of those. ;) The really interesting thing there is that even if somehow the finished product through some unknown tragedy manages to suck, it seems to have already become the most important album of the last several years. Will that affect ratings? Should it affect ratings? I don’t see how it wouldn’t. But any album that can have a happy pop song on it written in 5/4 gets my vote. Either way, you have until the yet to be announced (December-ish) deadline to finish the lists- they can be rearranged any time. (updated lists)
