Lo and behold, October has come. The year is coming to a close soon, and it’s time to start asking ourselves, “What albums did we like this year?” Since Ondes Martenot’s album countdown last year was so great, I thought it would be nice to have another one for this year. I’m working out the details and will post them in this space when decisions are made, but for now assume I’ll use his model: List 5 to 25 original albums, released in 2007. Rank determines the points an album gets. Deadline: December 15 10:00pm EST (3am GMT) Suggestions and questions are welcome. That's pretty normal. It may seem wonderful at first, but wait till the real work starts. :P A couple of big papers at the same time, and you'll be wishing there were about 10 more hours in a day every day. Or if you take sciences, the labs can take up alot of time. Self motivation.... the most difficult college skill of them all.

perfectly willing to do it... certainly want to see what it looks like- even if I couldn't do it as well as him. Hmm... maybe I'll do some research and get that thread started tomorrow...

Going over the tracklisting... it's really neat that there are so many old songs that they figured out how to record... I hadn't even heard of some of them! :stunned:

I think it's the mix that got me listeining... and now that I'm talking about them I'm listening again... heh. :laugh3:

I showed up just before the last album... it wasn't that bad, but yeah, it was pretty crazy... Seems it was the worst for the old regulars who got really attached to each other.

Yeah. Home is such a perfect song. He's got a great voice when he isn't yelling.

Foo Fighters. I never liked the Foos except for a couple of songs- couldn't listen for long at a time. Then I heard the new album. Wow. It's a perfect mix of all sorts of things.

Heh... I hadn't listened to any Radiohead for a couple of months this summer... after Hodiau went dark and I didn't feel like listening to non-summery stuff. Now I just started really listening again when the code started. It's nice. I don't want to stop. :nice:

I just set up my email so that anything with the words penis or mortgage or the like in it gets automatically deleted and I don't even know it was ever sent. Never seen any since. :smug:

I think they usually leak when someone working in the production line (studio, factory, publicity... someone with access) gets a copy one way or another and passes it on. When albums leak right before they're released, usually it was because someone recorded an online preview. That's my (limited) understanding of it, anyway. So leave out the middlemen, eliminate the leak.

Also looks like a great way to get around potential leaks... No promos, no pressing of albums yet, just get the digital files out there and then worry about all the other stuff. These guys... they're a smart bunch. *awe*

Yeah, I remember in Eraser interviews whenever someone suggested to Thom that they release it themselves he was all ambivalent about the idea... said he didn't want to have to be sitting around in meetings all the time. Guess the code about the meeting was a clue. 15 Step :D And yay for double albums!! Oh man, brilliantly played... Do a google news search on Radiohead- everyone has articles saying that the album release is a hoax, because of the fake countdown. They set up everything just right so that the hoax story would hit the news tomorrow morning and let the fans have a bit of time to enjoy the real news in peace . :laugh3: That's great.
