Did anyone else see the weird shapes- maybe faces- in the smoke? :stunned: Creepy stuff that... I love this show.

Forget just favorite b-side... it's one of my 3 all time favorite Coldplay songs. I love the way it sounds, most of all, but yes... it is a little closer to home than some songs lyrically too...

Good movie. It was a very tiny bit too long, and there were afew too many reminders that Pete started out doing horror movies (giant centipedes anyone? *shudders*) but if that's the worst that you can complain about a movie, that's really not much. It was enchanting.

New episode January 11th! Only one more Wednesday of reruns to go! *gets excited* Did anyone else see the preview that said that the next new episode would be a two hour special or something?

*laughs* I noticed the similarity last summer when I got the CD. No, Oasis didn't copy or rip off or anything of the sort, at least not from a Coldplay B-side. What both bands did was build a song around two powerchords. The results when you do that are usually very similar, and very classic. People with a better knowlege of older music than me could probably back me up on this (or tell me I'm completly off), but I'm sure that there must be at least a dozen or so songs around that sound alot like both 1.36 and Meaning of Soul, especially from the 50s or 60s. Or as a blurb on the Oasis website puts it, "What we do hear is the deafening ninety second Meaning of Soul which spits fifties rock ‘n’ roll blades at passers by". If Oasis copied it off of anything it was probably their usual source material. Me, I really love both songs. They can coexist just fine. :cool:

So 22 pages in and scanning the thread hasn't helped answer my question any. At risk of looking like an idiot, I have to ask. :huh: Who the hooey is McFly??? :huh:

Coldplay is the band that first got me into music too. ;) If you want to get a message to them, your best bet is to send it to Debs Wild, the girl who looks after all their mail and runs their official website. To each their own, I guess. Sleeping Sun is easily one of my favorite songs from the whole X&Y "era," I guess you could call it. I listen to it probably a little more than is healthy.

Not to be a music snob, and no offense to the tiny handful of them who actually have a brain, but I would seriously question the tastes of anyone who hung out on an nsync message board to begin with. They've been brainwashed by the whole image thing- why is it surprising when they start basing all judgment on... surprise, surprise... image. *giggles* Napoleon Dynamite..... :lol: *sigh* I like the curly hair... but you have to admit, there's a point where it really does need a trim.

I read them... it's funny. :jester: Humor and a bit of faint hope- what more could you ask for? (besides the actual song, of course :dozey: ). I'm hoping it'll be White Shadows. I don't think it would be Square One unless they could go back and release it as the first single - they think too much about stuff like that. I'd love for it to be Swallowed in the Sea, but if it's going to be something slower, probably A Message is the most radio friendly of the two. So I'm guessing it's one of those two... White Shadows or A Message. The Hardest Part is pretty much a no. Didn't Will say on the radio 6 tour diaries that they probably wouldn't even play it live again?

According to the sheet music I have you have it right. E, G, A#,D, and then F# with the left hand. I listened to the song, and Chris is definitely playing a D as the top note. I think it's supposed to sound a little bit off. It's an odd chord. The guitar tabs on the sheet music say that it is an F#7aug, and it sounds just as odd when I play it on guitar. *Shrug* maybe someone who knows a little more than I do could help, but it sounds right to me.

Sleeping Sun: Ok, I've only been playing guitar for about 5 months or so, (though obsessivly) so I'm really quite cluesless, but I've been trying to work it out as best I can... hopefully some white knight will come along and fix this, but untill then I hope this will get people started. They're probably a bit wrong- this is the first tab i've ever written of any sort, so definatly feel free to correct, but please be kind- trying to tab this reminds me of when I tried taking French class again at college after not speaking it for about 5 years. Anyway: standard tuning, use a capo on the first fret there are two acoustic guitars playing, one is doing the riff and all of the picking, and the second is strumming in the background this is the main riff: ----------------------------------------- ----3--3-3-1h3--------3--3-3-1h3-- ----------------------------------------- -0-----------------0-------------------- ----------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- I can't tell exactly what the second guitar is playing during that, but this works: 2 3 3 2 3 3 3 3 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 x x x x x x x x than the verse starts and the first guitar starts picking through chords... this is where I really need help... it's way too fast for me to hear, but the chords that are used go: D Am C G That's as far as I've gotten... I can't figure out the chorus. I hope this makes a little sense.

Thanks for that awn44. Very much appreciated :thumbsup: I agree that the song wouldn't fit into X&Y very easily, and I do think it was written afterwards. But it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they had saved it, recorded it a little more carefully, and then built an album around it. I think it would have ended up alot closer to parachutes. On the other hand they might have ended up going country. *shudders* But that's all just hypothetically speaking. Let's hope this bodes well for the future, anyway.

I just heard it, and I'm flabbergasted. It's so beautiful. I was grinning ear to ear all the way through. Definatly my favorite X&Y b-side. Has anyone been able to figure out the lyrics yet? I'm having a bit of trouble making some of them out.
