COLDPLAY ON THE COVER OF ROLLING STONES!
I'm working on scanning them, but it might take me a little bit... my scanner is too small for the magazine, so I have to piece the scans together. I can get the first couple up, though...

Coldplay's Influences
Muse is another one... I think they said Clocks was inspired by Muse... and Twisted Logic

Coldplay Quotes
A couple of random ones from Rolling Stone... "Those have been the two biggest chanllenges of my life: trying to follow Radiohead, and trying to follow Brad Pitt." "That's what we have to remember: We're only on our third record. Pokemon was huge for a while, but that hasn't really lasted. At this point, I feel like we're the new wazzzzup!"

Another reason the Beatles will never be touched
Apples and oranges people... I don't think Coldplay are the best band ever - best is way too subjective a word for there to be one "best" band ever... but to me, Coldplay are the most special band ever :)

WTF is that thing ? Chris = Sting ??
If that makes you really weird it makes me alot weirder... I seriously freaked out the first time someone mentioned the possibility of coldplay splitting up...

Awww man!
Chris's assistant Vicci draws the sign on his hand with some sort of a sharpie marker... and he jokes about it being toxic. I scribble notes all over my hands all the time and am fine. Personally though, I get kind of annoyed when people copy something like Chris's equals sign. I always get the impression that they are doing it just because he did and that they haven't really looked into what the symbol stands for. Usually the people who have looked into it are the sort that find their own original way to express their support. And besides... nothing kills a symbol's power quicker than it becoming a fad... just look at what's happening with Lance Armstrong's bracelettes... But hey, if you know what the whole fair trade thing is about and you still believe in it enough to want to copy the equals sign, it's your hand... or arm.

Coldplay Concert Results In 34 Marijuana Arrests
 Hee hee... I really don't get that mentality, though. The couple sitting in front of me at the Hartford concert were drunk out of their minds... Pay $140 to go see a concert that you won't even be able to remember... Now there's some twisted logic for you.

Kids start singing at the speed of sound...
I checked amazon.com to see if there were any song samples up. There aren't for the one with speed of sound on it yet, but there are for a couple of the other cds. There is something profoundly disturbing about hearing a cd with a bunch of kids singing along to sk8tr boi, and when I heard a bit of the Beatles one, I wanted to cry... it's just so wrong... :(

Best Dressed Men in the World
Esquire magazine's "Best Dressed Men in the World" list just came out, and Chris Martin is #19. I take it whoever put the list together hasn't seen his black hoodie... :stunned: Sorry if this has been posted already. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1507427/20050811/pharrell3.jhtml?headlines=true http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2005-08-10-esquire-main_x.htm?POE=LIFISVA

Shirt prices in US
I got one of the t-shirts in Hartford. I don't know if it was worth 35$, but it's a really nice shirt and I've warn it almost constantly since. A word of warning, though. I don't know if my shirt was a dud or if they all had this problem, but the printer hadn't cured the ink properly on mine, and the design was starting to get big cracks all through it. I poked around on the internet a bit and found out how to cure it in the oven when I got home, so it's ok now.

Arcade Fire
I didn't know that they'd been here until just a couple of days ago. Rebelion was playing on the radio at work and one of the girls I work with started talking about how upset she was that she didn't hear about them until after they'd been here. I looked it up, and sure enough, they'd been here at the Marquee in November. It makes sense... they are Canadian- I just hope they remember that on their next tour.

The Trews
I haven't heard a whole lot by them, but I've really liked what I've heard.

Arcade Fire
I can't believe they came to Halifax last November and I never heard a thing about it! *sigh* Here's hoping they come back again someday, but it's not so likely now that they're taking over the world.

Unexpected Bad Songs
Oi! Give the new Coldplay songs some time. Don't Panic made me cringe every time I heard it. For at least two years I would skip it. I'm not sure if I ever made it to the end of the song, even. Then, one day, it just didn't bug me anymore. In fact, I quite liked it. Now it's one of my favorite songs. But it took me two whole years.

Your first time with Coldplay ...
The first time I heard a Coldplay song was when Trouble was played on an episode of Roswell, much like Fix You showed up on an episode of the O.C. recently. Normally I didn’t care about the music on Roswell, they were always playing crap from the radio, but that one song haunted me like no other. I didn’t have a clue who the song was by, though, and never bothered to find out. The second time I heard of Coldplay was from a friend who was obsessed with Yellow. She would sing it, very loudly and a bit out of tune. All. The. Time. It’s still my least favorite of Coldplay’s big songs, though I do finally like it now. What I consider to be the first real time I heard Coldplay was January of 2003. I was working in a Walmart type store and had been listening to the same loop of about 20 cheesy Christmas songs playing for the last month and a half. Finally, something different was being pumped over the store radio. One afternoon, they played Clocks. I couldn’t even hear it very well, because the in-store speakers were so distorted, but I was completely transfixed. It was so beautiful. I think one of the customers had to wake me up out of the funny little trance the song put me into. I heard it over the radio a couple of times after that with the same result. It became my happy song- the song that would get me out of the worst moods. I had to find out who the song was by now, but I couldn’t. I would always miss it on the radio. Meanwhile, the girl who was so obsessed with Yellow, along with a couple of other influences had convinced me to look into these Coldplay guys a little more. So I tried one more song – Clocks – and it was the song- my happy song; the one I couldn’t find. I was flabbergasted. I listened to a second song. It was Trouble- that song I still remembered from Roswell a couple of years earlier. It was like a Twilight Zone moment, where all these random songs I had heard snippets of and loved all came from those guys I had ignored because they only played that song Yellow.

Chris Martin solo album ?
I was freaked out a couple of months ago when my musically clueless cousin said that he had thought that Speed of Sound was Chris going solo. :o The thought had never crossed my mind before. I was very relieved when I saw Chris and Jonny talk about this in the Muchmusic broadcast of the Toronto concert, right at the start of Till Kingdom Come http://www.muchmusic.com/tv/specials/coldplay%5Flive/ Chris: "What...what most people don't understand about our band is that although I talk the most and talk the loudest, I'm just one cog in a...in a big machine. If I thought I was a brilliant solo artist, I would go solo. But I'm s***, so... So would Jonny there. Will you go solo?" Jonny: "I don't think so." Chris: "Can I come with you..." Johnny: [laughs] Chris: "...if you ever do?" Jonny: "Yeah"

Guess the song!
Speed of Sound at Glastonbury... "I won't let you down"

My cousin went to school with Guy!!
That photo of Chris is great. I love the way he’s the only one grinning like that in a sea of sullen faces. I think it makes a really great metaphor for his career… surrounded by musicians who take themselves a bit too seriously, and have a bit too much attitude *cough Gallaghers cough* and many of them often write depressing lyrics about how much life sucks. Meanwhile there’s Chris skipping across the stage with a big smile on his face singing about hope and sadness and beautiful things.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVUORITE B-SIDE
I Ran Away. I think that it's one of their best songs period. For You is really great too.

what is chris talking about?
Yeah, that's about what it sounds like to me too... "I'm not bein' a part of the flow I'm trying to send a sign In a language I don't speak"
