  1. The World's Fastest Indian 9/10 Anthony Hopkins is amazing.
  2. ^Just goes to show you how far that crazy song spread! I doubt they remember it now, but I know afew people who could sing along with the whole thing- even though they didn't have a clue what a single word meant.
  3. :laugh3: One problem... they won't read this thread either...
  4. Heh... what would any thriving community be without ghost stories and boogie men? :anxious:
  5. Oi... I wonder how many of these threads there have been in the last 6 months alone... Here's the thing... every jacket Chris has, people say it's awesome and want it. And some of them are really nice. BUT they DO NOT look good on him because of the style of the jacket. The look good because they fit him right, and because he has a very specific body type. Just look at the shapeless black hoodie he wears- it still looks good. If you want to look like that, you need to be in great shape and have very square shoulders. Good posture helps too. Then, when you get a jacket, make sure that the shoulder seams hit right on your shoulder, and that the jacket is very snugly fitted without being tight. That's what makes all the different jackets he wears look like that.
  6. There are sooo many corny headline possibilities here I'm almost afraid to look at the papers... :stunned:
  7. Yay! :D And yes, I've been constantly listening to the song Moses for two days now....
  8. I'm totally a last minute type... in fact I should be studying for an exam now but I haven't yet... Any yes, it almost always works - except for the times I misjudge and have to turn something in late (which has been happening far too much lately  )
  9. Just remember this would be the same musical culture that inflicted the likes of Simon Cowell upon us... of course they would be bored with anyone sober enough to form a complete sentence, or courteous enough to not come up with a dumb insult every two minutes... :P Don't get me wrong... about 90% of my favorite bands are all British, and I love how much more open things are to new bands than in North America, but I have never figured out the obsession some industry types have where having the image of a permanent bad attitude is more important than actually making good music...
  10. "Look Ma, I'm on TV!" I Finally got a chance to get a couple of screencaps... The first time Chris came over to our part of the stage: And during the infamous phone incident the second time he came over: autumnjoy is directly on my right in the first one holding up the phone so her mom can hear, and her sister is right in front of me (thus the awsome pics!! ;) ) It's kind of embarrasing because I'm grinning like a complete moron all through it, but if Chris was singing about 3 or 4 feet directly in front of you, you probably would be too... :wideeyed:
  11. For anyone who want to see the other angle on that picture, I did a screencap from the video of the moment it was taken. Seriously...you can't quite make me out there, but I was directly behind her grinning like an idiot when she took that and *I* barely lived to tell about it. He saw her camera and was actually posing for a moment mid-song. No zoom required for sure.
  12. Weren't they from one of the e-zines or something? I could be wrong...
  13. Broken Social Scene were so amazing live! Both the night before and the song they played at the Junos. So, I come home, and one of the first things my sister says to me (she hadn't heard them before) is "Broken Social Scene sounded terrible!" I couldn't believe it! They were mindblowing! I watch the tape, and sure enough, she was right they sounded terrible! The tv producer had absolutly no idea how to mix a group that big, apparently, because he had pulled out a couple of the layers and turned up the volume too much on them, and then you couldn't even hear the rest. He butchered it!!
  14. Here's part of Talk: http://rapidshare.de/files/17386061/Picture_374.mov.html These were taken by autumnjoy's sister Jenna, so massive thanks to her for them! :D
  15. Ladies and gentlemen, boys, girls and wildlife, I give you at long last autumnjoy's wonderful (sideways) video of the view from the pit. This is the Bryan Adams speech: http://rapidshare.de/files/17385496/Picture_375.mov.html If anyone knows how to turn it around right side up, would you please be willing to repost it? Sorry it took so long to get it up...between technical difficulties and last week of class workload.... well, its up, anyway... number two being uploaded now
  16. Yeah, if I didn't know to look for him I probably would have missed him too with the hood up. Other than being really really skinny for a guy, he looks so average, and has such a down to earth kind of demeanor. But man, get a good look at his face, and seriously... no picture I've ever seen has done him justice. *swoons*
  17. No problem. ;) I usually live vicariously through others write-ups like that, so It's nice to be the one sharing for a change. Now you think that was cool, wait for part two at the ceremony... Yes, that was autumnjoy's phone that he took... For now, I'm off to homework and bed.
  18. So, here he is signing my album cover for me. and here it is:
  19. Sorry about the upload troubles guys, but we'll see what we can do tomorrow. I'm working on another big paper at the moment, so you'll have to bear with the trickle of information, but I'll write up something much more coherent soon. (Why do these sorts of things always happen at the end of term, anyway?) Anyway, I do have a little bit to post for now, with a huge thanks to autumnjoy for the picture. First, to make a really long story short, I should clairify something. On the net, I prefer to go by Erin. However, out in the real world, people call me Maureen (or Mo) -just so no one gets too confused at the sig. So autumjoy had all these grand plans of how to wander around the city looking for the guys. Me, being the paranoid cynical type I am thought this was a little crazy and would never work. I went to the huge (amazing) Broken Social Scene concert Saturday night, and woke up Sunday hardly able to hear, and barely able to move I ached so much. As much as I really wanted to find the guys, I couldn't bear the though of moving more than a couple of feet at a time, and like I said, I didn't think we had much of a chance anyway. Then Joy called. She'd been hanging out around the Metro Centre, and had met them all on the way into soundcheck. (I'll let her give you the details of that.) I finished getting ready and hightailed it down there myself. Guy, Will and Jonny had already left, but Chris was still inside rehearsing. There was basically no one there besides autumnjoy's family and a couple of other people. Everyone else was at the other end of the building lining the red carpet hoping to see someone. I had made it just in time. Chris came out in that black hoodie of his. And we all went a bit crazy. I asked him to sign my arobtth cover. I'm shy to begin with, but I wasn't as tounge-tied as I was afraid of being, even though I just sort of mumbled stuff. It's strange... the sort of things I wish I could say is how that album you just signed was the first real cd I ever owned, and how it gets played twice as often as anything, and how the music changed my world and means so much to me. But of course however true that may be it's all cliches and in the end I just go along with other people's conversations. Chris talks about how cold it is and how can we stand it out there. (The wind was ferocious that day and he was just wearing a thin hoodie) I think I said something about getting used to it and shrugging. Someone told him how they could hear the soundcheck and it sounded really good. Chris gave a typical it was crap kind of answer (have I mentioned how much I love this guy yet?) and promised it would be awesome that night. Autumnjoy's mom got up to courage to ask if she could see Chris's new haircut, to which he said something about how he was still really self-concious about it. He was so amazingly patient with everyone, and seemed like he was in a really good mood, even if he was shivering. He posed for pictures with people, and signed autographs and stuff. Of course I was so starstruck by that point I couldn't even squeak out a request for a picture, and so he was off. Seriously. Nicest guy in the universe. And for the record, in spite of whatever misgivings he had about the haircut, based on what I saw at the actual Junos, I'd say its my favorite haircut of his ever. It looked perfect. No worries.
  20. ...Sure didn't look like a mullet to me...
  21. They don't really even play The Hardest Part in concerts. Every setlist I've seen lately they've gone back to playing Swallowed In The Sea. They know it doesn't really work all that well live, while songs like Talk do. Doesn't mean that they don't think that it will work on the radio, though. I've already heard THP played around here.
  22. It was a fun show, but really, very highly suspect. Much as I thought they deserved to win stuff, you notice that Bedouin Soundclash and Broken Social Scene also squeaked in an award as well as played. The biggest categories are determined by sales first and some committe second, or something like that. Not very artistically driven, I have to say. Tie. What a cop-out. :P
  23. I say it's the perfect length now. Long and curly, but under control. He was right in front of where we were standing alot of the time at the Junos so I got a really good look at it, and it was definatly cut. It wasn't puffy or sproingy like it had been. No doubt about it. No picture I have ever seen does that man justice. :stunned:
  24. Didn't think to bring a camera myself :embarassed: even though they were specifically allowed. You'll have to wait for autumnjoy's. Sorry
