  1. FINALLY! Another new episode tomorrow. It called "The Whole Truth". Now there's a loaded title if ever there was one. There are about 9 new episodes left in the season, so there shouldn't be many more reruns from here on in. I think they were hoarding new ones so they could go straight through to the finale.
  2. I fell asleep watching it... when I woke up about a half hour later, the only thing that had happened was Rosberg's engine had blown. :dozey: Not what I would call an interesting race.

One of my favorite things when everything seems dull and out of perspective is to go outside and look up at the stars. Corny, maybe, but it has a funny way of making everything make sense again, and making my mind quiet down.
  4. A&W root beer, but I don't usually drink pop because of all the sugar.
  5. Do you know what parts of the world are going to be able to see it?
  6. Thanks, Nettie :) Oh goodness... the Canadian Press. That explains alot. The main people whining on there are the usual snobs that the press always goes to when they need someone to rant that Canada doesn't support its film/music/tv/you name it industry. They are always yelling that we aren't paying enough attention to something, but as soon as anyone does, they're suddenly too good for it. It's like indie snobs but much more annoying, and they NEVER SHUT UP. For the record, any big event like this up here has traditionally been a bit of a laughingstock. Everyone was shocked when it was announced Coldplay were coming. The Junos coming to Halifax? No one outside of the industry cared. The Junos bringing big acts? Suddenly, people were like "I can't believe I'm caring about the Junos!" Another way to put it: I didn't get up at 3 in the morning in -15C weather to stand in line for 6 hours and pay 200$ just to see Nickleback, Pamela Andersons boobs, and (God forbid) Ben Mulroney.
  7. Welcome to the wonderful world of the great Canadian inferiority complex, boys and girls... it ain't pretty. Where is that article from, Nettie?
  8. Hey thanks... I hadn't seen that yet.
  9. Oh wow... there's other F1 fans on the board. I'm a Kimi fan, but I really don't care who wins, as long as it's not Schumacher. I followed F1 so closely for so long, but when he was always winning I just couldn't even bring myself to watch anymore. Who WILL win? Probably Alonso again. Which reminds me... I still have to watch the tape of the last race...
  10. The last shreds of the British class system are something I have to say, I honestly just don't get at all. :inquisitive: Anthropologist types must have fun with it, though.
  11. You usually have alot of thoughtful things to say, an_cat, and you always say them well, which is exactly what they're looking for in english stuff. No worries. :wink2:

I'd rather direct. :smug: I used to think I could act, but then no matter how well I auditioned, I'd always get stuck with crappy roles like the aging mother with one line. Blah. Have fun with your acting thing.
  13. Well Reilly, congratulations. You stirred up trouble. :laugh3: :tongue3: Everytime it seems like everyone has finished venting in here so we can move on, it starts up again. :stunned: I think it's time to all be friends again. I'll have hot chocolate instead, but yeah. That sounds like a really good idea.
  14. It used to happen alot on Lost boards. The poor reporters were so confused by the show they had to turn to what the fans on the message boards were saying to explain the show to them. Which got a little weird.
  15. Oh, by the way, I have a question. It has been my experience on other messageboards that things said in casual conversation have shown up in quotes in news articles the next day and been spread all over the world. Freaky stuff when it happens. :stunned: Nothing like the New York times or whatever to remind you that reporters can also lurk around here. Has that ever happened on Coldplaying that anyone can remember?
  16. Ok, peace people. :stunned: I came here because I loved Coldplay. I stayed here because it was a board full of friendly people who liked good music. I’m staying here for the same reason. It seems judging by the number of pages here that there has been much frustration lately. This thread let people vent it, which is healthy. Therese, (I hope I spelled that right) and anyone who’s post I used as an example, I didn’t mean any offence or to single any person out. I honestly don’t usually notice who starts a thread, because I’m terrible with names. My problem is only with an attitude that has recently been shared by many, so no one person is to blame. It will all be forgotten soon, and we’ll move on, hopefully having learned a few things in the process. Maybe some of those who feel alienated will take this chance to come back, because they are missed. There’s no need for polarization. I lurk around all of the major sections when I have time, and can tell everyone that all of them have fun, thoughtful, interesting people posting in them. Time to lighten up a bit, eh?
  17. It was relativley warm here today, but then it would start snowing even with the sun out. Weird. I'm horrible with the silences, because it's either be boring, or let on about just how random my mind actually is. Silly Putty, Beowulf, commiting hara-kiri with an umbrella, you name it... I'm sick of the way people stare at me when I actually tell them what I'm thinking. :stunned:  The Brain: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? Pinky: I think so, Brain, but how are we going to make pencils that taste like bacon? Or maybe we should make bacon that tastes like pencils. Narf.
  18. Worrying about what you're going to do with the rest of your life while you're still in highschool is dumb, because whatever you think about anything will change within a year or two of graduating. I'm 23, and I'm in my second year of college. I didn't know what to do when I was in grade 12, and I don't know now. I tried a course in graphic design for a year before I decided it wasn't my thing, spent some time doing this religious studies thing, spent a couple of years working, decided I really wanted a college degree of some sort after all, and now here I am. I'm studying English because my dream job is to be some sort of writer, but I have no clue what I'll actually do when I graduate. Probably try to kill my travel bug by teaching english as a second language abroad or something. I've contemplated going to community college to learn to be an electrician, because I like doing active stuff where I work with my hands, and trades can pay very well. My point is, I totally understand being worried, because I sure was too, but there's no way you can predict what will actually work out or what you'll like. Highschool is like this bubble world, and everything seems so different once it's gone. Any decision you make at this point isn't ultimatly as big as people would have you believe. There are so many more possibilities out there than you can imagine right now. Planning is good, but being open to the unexpected is good too. For me, prayer helps alot. I may not know entirely what's happening, but I trust that God does. Even if you do go to college, at least in NS, people are changing majors constantly, and you can always take elective classes to see what you're good at. I don't think that most people who go to college even know what they want to take once they get there, and alot of the people who think they do will change their minds. Nothing is set in stone.
  19. If people stopped caring, maybe the tabliods would leave the celebrities alone finally. This mockery just makes that hope seem that much less likely. Remind me never to get into acting... I would end up so paranoid I'd never leave the house! :stunned:
  20. The first one was too much, but it was an nasty prank, so I get how it was started. The second one on the temp board was when I got really really really creeped out.
  21. I can't see this place ever becoming like the official boards... and I do respect all the different opinions that show up on here, but seriously... when the topic is "I HAD SEX WITH GUY BERRYMAN" followed by "who has the best ears".... let's just say that there are people here who read over my shoulder and then yell at me to get off the computer because I'm not talking about anything important.
  22. I’m tempted to just say airhead bimbo is as airhead bimbo does. I kind of have to agree with the guys here, even if Reilly is just trying to be the silly pest he is. The general level of intelligence on display in this particular section of the forum has taken a nosedive lately, and I’m not talking about compared to the good old days; I wasn’t around then. I’m talking about within the last 2 or 3 months. I just recently had to stop really even checking this section it’s gotten so bad, which is really annoying because this is where I’ve traditionally spent most of my time. Slash and obsessive fan girls go with the territory, I can live with that, but there are limits. Anything that inspires fandom will often be judged by their die-hard fans, and we’re really not making a very good impression at the moment. I spent most of high school not really liking any music because all I heard when I turned on the radio was Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Nsync, Spice Girls, ect, and I couldn’t stand going to a friend’s house and seeing their room completely plastered with Justin Timberlake. Then I heard Coldplay. They were totally different. For one thing, they were really respected as artists. For another, they didn’t have their faces plastered all over the cover of their albums saying “Buy me! I’m cute!” The music could stand on it’s own. Yeah, they’re good looking, but that really doesn’t matter with them. What a difference a couple of years and an album makes… there really seems to be people who treat them as the new Backstreet Boys or something. Maybe its because when pop music shifted to embrace them, it brought a more teeny-bopperish crowd with it, but I don’t have to like that. I hate talking to music geeks at school who are like “I used to like Coldplay, but now they’re just a pop band”, and it’s something that’s happening more and more. I have no problem with being a fangirl groupie, because I am one, but there are those here who are starting to make it embarrassing, and standing up for my favorite band’s artistic integrity gets tough when the other fans who ought to be backing me up on this are more interested in who has the best tongue. (ew!) Come on ladies, pull yourselves together. Show a bit of dignity for the boy’s sake. People like to accuse men of thinking with their balls, but if some of what I’ve seen in here is anything to go by, the women don’t seem to be any better. There was a time when perverted was an insult, not a compliment. I’m not pointing any fingers, I’m just saying it’s possible to talk about more in here than Guy’s ass, even if music talk does belong in the album forum. We can’t change culture at large, but we can choose how we represent the band on the net. People outside of the regular group who post here do notice, I assure you.
  23. I speak french... sort of... I tried to learn Elvish once (Quenya - yeah, I'm a geek... so what) but that messed with my head- You could tell it was invented by a proffesional linguist. I've always wanted to learn Gaelic. I was going to take a class in it this year, but it conflicted with one of my required classes, so I couldn't.
