  1. OH. MY. WORD. :o Just got home from the show. I met Chris. He signed my arobtth album cover. They played Talk...sounded awesome. Couldn't hear a word anyone said though, because of a funny sound set up thing, so I'll have to watch the tape. Hair looks absolutly perfect now. :) Finally got it cut. Feet hurt. Standing 7 hours. More later.
  2. I'm guessing Talk and hoping for Square One. Hey, maybe they'll do White Shadows?! :bulb:
  3. Yeah, it's like half the music world suddenly woke up and realised that Canada had an east coast. So much to see... so little time. Here's hoping me and autumnjoy get in to see Broken Social Scene and Bedouin Soundclash tonight. *rushes off again*
  4. True- citrus fruit is how I survive winter... The next poster likes to jump in puddles when it rains.
  5. false Junos are tomorrow :P The next poster ate toast for breakfast.
  6. :D Oh man, that was EVIL! In a good way. But now, if anyone sees the guys before tomorrow, I won't be able to belive them.
  7. So this means that if I end up on camera in some of the shots, it's not going out nationally, it's going out internationally? :shocked2: Jeepers creepers! Now I'm freaked out. I just want to see Coldplay in Halifax! You guys should be happy though, this is going to be the first time that the show airs anywhere outside of Canada! :D But anyway, would someone pretty please record this? I'm taping it all, but I have no way to put it onto my computer.
  8. Wow... this weekend is amazing so far :shocked2: If only I didn't need to sleep I could have seen Pilate at the Marquee last night. Of course somehow I hadn't even known they existed untill about 6 last night. The hockey game was great...more details later. I'm surprised autumnjoy didn't mention didn't mention when we were standing right above Ben Mulroney doing backstage interviews at the Thursday concert. He's wearing so much fake tanner that his skin is radioactive orange off camera, and he smokes- alot. (Shouldn't be surprising, but it's very disconcerting to see because he has such a boyscout image :stunned: )
  9. ;) Let's see... he retired, started his own team, had it go relativley well for afew seasons, didn't do so well later and let someone buy them out, and then I don't know...
  10. I was being slightly facecious, hoping to get the Schumi fans riled up...I guess it worked. :P Heehee... I have the greatest respect for the guy; there really trully never has been another driver in F1 like him. But I have something ingrained in me that always roots for the underdog, as well as a very long memory... for instance when he rammed his car into Villeneuve to try to get the championchip. My dad has every race since about 1988 recorded. Yes, that's 88, not 98. I mention something I think is ancient history and he goes and watches the tape like it was just yesterday. (And I've always suspected that my brother Graham was named after Graham Hill :\ ) So one thing I can say for sure, even when a driver was dominant the whole season, it was never as boring as the years that Schumi and Ferrari were dominant. He was just out front for entire seasons. Many races dad would watch the race tape before I could finish my homework, so when I heard the German national anthem wafting in from the TV room, I could pretty much give a play-by-play of the whole race without watching any of it. If I bothered to watch the tape, I was usually right. Most of the few interesting races happened when it rained and mixed everything up. I never liked Senna either (die-hard Nigel Mansell fan- still my all-time favorite driver) but even the years Senna won alot, interesting things happened. There were giant rivalrys he had with multiple drivers, so there was usually something interesting happeing. And even though I wasn't a fan of his, I was absolutley devastated when he died. If you wanted to get into really ancient history, Sterling Moss is considered one of the greatest drivers of his era, and he never won a single championchip! I became a Kimi fan because I was blown away when this kid (yeah, he's older than me, so what  ) comes in straight from karting, has never driven in a race that lasted for more than a half-hour, and is so talented that he skyrockets right to the top in no time. That's what made me a Kimi fan. Pity if some of his fans are jerks. Call it childish if you like, but I don't like what Ferrari's dominance did to the sport as a whole, because I think it's greater than any one driver.
  11. Jenjie is right. I read over the contest rules very carefully before I entered, and let me tell you, whoever drafted them made sure to cover their own behinds a dozen times over. They lived up to what they said the contest included exactly. Nothing less, but apparently, nothing more either. But saying “I might act like a jerk” in no way excuses a person when they proceed to act like a jerk. It makes the band look bad, it makes anyone of any worth at EMI and Global look bad, and it disappoints not only the fans who won, but also the ones like me who stayed home and dreamed too. I was looking forward to seeing all the different perspectives on the DVD, as I’m sure were many others. Now it just seems like they thought a contest would be some good publicity and had no intention of actually following through. :( Maybe my perspective is a little warped because I was really excited about this, but this contest was promoted like crazy over here, and treated like a big deal. It had a lot of people excited just by existing, even if they weren’t entering. It really should have been organised better if all the stuff said is true.
  12. Glad to know not every contest for that concert screwed the people over...
  13. This is the best I could find... not that it helps much: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22075 I know I've seen the original photo around here somewhere...it was a pretty poor quality scan from a magazine, if I remember right.
  14. Industry politics 101... Basically, Yes. Record labels lose money on most of their artists. The top 4 or 5 artists that a label has have to make enough money to pay for the others. Unfortunatly for the top artists, it means they get promoted to death like we're seeing with Coldplay (do you really think there would be such a backlash against them if EMI wasn't so desperate to make every single person on the planet listen to them?), and for the lesser ones, if they don't deliver enough to become one of the top moneymakers, they get underpromoted, written off, and dropped.
  15. There are many more Canadians on the board, they probably just haven't noticed this thread. Hi from Halifax!
  16. You know what the video really reminds me of for some reason is the Muse video for Stockholm Syndrome... same sort of a starting... but of course without the creepy dancing people.
  17. At the very least, have the dancer guy with more on than just that thong... :sick2:
  18. Space Cadet replied to Sternly's topic in The Lounge
*gives Mimi a hug for all her hard work*
  19. Space Cadet replied to Sternly's topic in The Lounge
*squeaks up* um... I don't want to get involved or anything, but would it be ok if we did have an actual poll? Especially where the title doesn't make any sense for those of us who don't have channel 4?
  20. I have only one question: What the hooey have the guys been smoking lately, anyway? :shocked2:
  21. Hey... The Contact I saw them live once; they put on a good show.
  22. I loved Maps, and I like the new single Gold Lion, but I haven't heard many other songs of theirs that I like. Thanks for the heads up, though.
  23. :laugh3: 14) Wait a minute... I forgot what I was going to say
  24. Oh crap. :freak: Well, at least I haven't gotten the email... yet.
  25. "Though here at journey's end I lie in darkness buried deep, beyond all towers strong and high, beyond all mountains steep, above all shadows rides the Sun and Stars for ever dwell: I will not say the Day is done, nor bid the Stars farewell" ~The Return of the King
