Help! I need to forget for a minute...
I don't want to feel better. I don't want to laugh. And Radiohead is my mood neutral- not so good for worst days ever.... "You're a cold piece of steel between my ribs and there's no saving me And I can't get up from this wet crimson bed that you made for me Cause love, like a knife in the back, has cut me down and I'm bleeding - yeah, I'm bleeding And if you go, angels will run to defend me - to defend me" [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eINS3yYQ2aU]YouTube- Rob Dougan - Furious Angels with subtitles[/ame]

Help! I need to forget for a minute...
This, all in all, has been one of the crappier days in my entire life. Now I have a lot of work to do, and I feel awful and I can't concentrate, and it's too quiet, and I can't just go hug my cat and feel better because she's gone as of this morning. Anyone have any good suggestions of things to listen to to fill the deafening silence? Preferably with a good thump to it?

Radiohead
Yes, intentionally, and more on some albums than others. Sometimes he sings an all-out song, and his voice can be very clear and very, very beautiful on those. Sometimes he wants it to become one more layer of the music like another instrument, so he mumbles or processes it in funny ways or finds something random to repeat over and over like "the raindrops" Plus his lyrics tend to be very stream-of-consciousness at times, so it's like they do matter, but in a way they don't. I was told once that there's a very insightful O.C. quote that says something like Radiohead writes songs about the shape of a thing rather than the thing itself. If you let a song flow along, the combination of the feeling the music gives you, the way the words are sung, and what you get from the key words you can make out combine to give you the meaning of the song. If you were to sit down with a printout of the lyrics, they wouldn't always make a whole lot of sense.

We will be a little short of puns for the next week
I've given it some thought, and yes, that is officially more bizarre than me and Briggins accidentally stalking each other through life. :wtf:

Gliggins Bragster - The Coldplaying "thing"
So technically you're both New Scottish and original Scottish then. :smug2: So does this mean he has to do the webcast in a half-Scottish accent then?

Toaster ovens are better then microwaves for fridge pizza. *nods*

Sure it's only the third dimension? :uhoh2: *backs away slowly* By the way, it's awesome to have you back around Reilly. You were missed. :nice:

Eeeew! I'm not married to him!:P Big difference between a spouse who you do need to hash things out with and a stranger who's opinion ultimately means nothing to your life.

The 2012 Motor Racing Thread (F1 & More)
Hmm... can't say I'm surprised. He's like Lance Armstrong. He needs to race. Can't say I'd be happy if he went right back to winning all the time either. It's been so interesting lately. More like what I remembered F1 being like when I was a kid.

^Heh... right, it was Ana Lucia. Man, even I can't keep the timeline untangled anymore. And that bit doesn't even have timetravel.

The only approach that actually works. The thing with Mark is that when it gets to the point where you can't hold your tongue anymore, if you still avoid attacking him personally, but instead clearly, firmly, and logically point out why his behavior is inappropriate, (and back off when he doesn't get it) he doesn't seem to take it personally. And then there isn't a fight. I dunno, I guess I've always dealt with difficult people on the board with the thought that learning how to deal with difficult people in any situation is an essential life skill. And it has turned out to have helped me get along with a lot of different groups of people I would have never thought I could. Anyway, all I have to say on the matter. Shut down arguments before they happen, and you never have to deal with them. (well, except our longsuffering admin and mods  ) Questions work well for that.

Yeah... they should be the same time... I did get that right didn't I? Well it's live at 3:30pm my time on Sunday. I'm on Atlantic time- so +4 hours to GMT means 7:30pm and -1 to EST means 2:30pm...

What haven't I learnt as a Coldplayer in the past year?
:laugh4: It's so true! :disappointed: I can think of oh so many things I've missed learning over the last 4 years because I was on here instead.

Someone distract me.
Hurrah!

Someone distract me.
Still 50 wpm. Just like I've been for the last 11 years... Man I'm useless at this. I get so distracted the moment anyone mentions anything I can't think of anything to contribute. There's bubble wrap somewhere around here, isn't there?

L O S T
It was near the end of the second season or the early part of the third, the episode where the tail section people walked to the main camp. Shannon kept seeing visions of a backwards talking Walt, and she ran off into the jungle right when someone in the tail section group disappeared and there were voices everywhere and everyone was confused. And then someone shot. They thought it was at one of the "others". They hit Shannon. At least that's how I remember it. It was a long time ago and confusing on purpose. Like the island wanted her to die. Charlotte. Don't know for sure.

2009 Albums of the Year: Countdown
^It shouldn't take long (sort of part of the point) probably no more than half an hour to an hour. We're hoping for lots of interaction from the board- reading out questions, comments, and so on. But for those with plans or incompatible timezones hopefully we can archive the video afterward.

^Coldplay and the Killers were the only bands to even get two albums on the list. Hmm...interesting to see a list through the Daily Mail's prism. Very, very poppy, yet hard to disagree with as a pop list beyond nitpicks. (Yes, that is what they call music. :P :laugh4:)

Idiotic corporations are fair game. Ganging up on an individual is kind of mean at best.

Debs has said before that they have several identical globes that toured around with them. It looks like this is only one of those?
