after a long hiatus come back and bam! downloads, cheers :)! i've finally burnt Fengers album that i downloaded from this thread and i really like it but still my fav has to be mew and the glass handed kites. With Fengers i find myself listening to the first 4 songs then repeating them, just need time i think to get cosy with this album.

^ i hope so too so then i can be jealous lol :) [Roger that - The Polka-Dotted Avenger - over] lol haha actually i've been slack but for a good reason had a 'procedure' on my eyelid, i wouln't call it an operation its quite small but i've been avoiding tv and computer screens-- actually been watching tv with one eye lol. We need the Mew crew for major bumpage to this thread--they're probably busy with top secret operations lol.
  17. Philip Pullman's Northern Lights has been named the best children's book of the past 70 years. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6228124.stm to tie into the topic of thread. Just read Kafka for beginners, though i have read a book of Kafka's stories when i was in high school. I read them and was dumbfounded perhaps i was too young to read it or i was used to books that told linear and unambiguous stories- but i really didn't understand it. Reading Kafka for Beginners (part of the Icon books series) i found i understood the story of Metamorphasis better, i am planning to re-read his works as they are a distant memory of confusion. also the guy who did the cartoons in the book is called Robert Crumb the name and style of drawing reminds me of American Splendour (the movie had comic book drawings).

  21. ^ cheers i'll def will -- phew gona be lota reading this holidays lol :) i've never read about that part of history.
  22. i know movies don't have as deep an analysis as books etc but watch Lumumba, Gandhi, the Belgians and British made it a difficult transition of power for the Democratic Republic of the Congo(formely zaire) and India respectively. the Indian and Pakistani split was traumatic and it didn't have to be so, when certian voices told the British to draw the split line differently this advice was ignored. Mobutu (future dictator of Zaire) was backed by US and Belgium (no finger pointing here y'all work together now). on another note thanks for posting info on amnesty int. and the between darfur and baghdad article gona read it now.
  23. ^ that sounds interesting...um is it very gruesome? i remember after reading 'the Idiot' by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, i wanted to understand what was Prince Myshkin's (one of the main characters in the book)facination with punishment techniques etc. so read a book on the history of punishment. quite disturbing....yet dare i say it interesting.
  24. Quote coldmike: "I sometimes felt like it was two different bands. Their gigs are less intimated. I mean, I feel like Live 2003 had a different atmosphere. It's less... I'd say cold. They seem closer to the crowd. " that's what i felt of course it could also be that i was way at the back in 06 concert where people don't stand up and dance. Still the flashy lights and big screen were kind of distracting yet beautiful. Quote GazeboflossUK : "Look at all the good songs from the pre AROBTTH era that were either never recorded or were only ever b-sides." They were overflowing with creativity then. i would sometimes wish their b-sides would've made it to an album to show their different range. I wonder if that did happen, would they be as big as they are now? ......
  25. i like graffiti in toilets makes interesting and best of all hands free reading.
