Clarification from the band afterwards suggests he meant that its the end of a theme that was running since LP1 and will end with LP7. It does NOT mean the band are splitting up after LP7.

Rik Simpson was asked what he was up to/working on at the moment, to which he responded: "New Coldplay album, LP7 I think it is, which is going well, lots of travelling and recording in different locations but we're still based here in London pretty much for most of our time". As a follow up he was asked what his plans are for 2015 to which he said "use more modular synths", in a joking sort of manner. Iunno, I would need more to go off of to go ahead and announce that synths will feature in LP7. I can live with that, but what was tweeted was that it will FEATURE, like it will be a main focal point of something, which I don't think he meant at all. sauce edit: sorry about the scary bolding y'all

Oh c'mon now...iunno who is running Coldplaying's twitter account but the interview never said or even hinted that synths will "feature" in LP7. Perhaps they'll be involved in LP7, but to say it'll feature is false. IMO, that is just as misleading as when the 'bloids said Coldplay are quitting after what Chris said about it being like the final Harry Potter novel....

We already know LP7 is in the works and its not unlikely that the band are travelling around to different locations/studios (possibly to work with others/collaborators, get different 'sounds' [like when they went to record a song from viva in a church iirc]). Synths appear to be sticking around for the next album though not confirmed and even so, it doesn't mean they'll be very prominent, so no worries to those who aren't into that sound. On a different note: I closed the release date window to Q3-Q4 2015. We know the band aren't likely at all to play Glasto (which is in the summer) and the album is being listed as one of the most anticipated albums of 2015 (http://www.billboard.com/photos/6406578/30-most-anticipated-albums-of-2015?i=540245) so that takes out 2016. So thats where I got the window

Speaking of, I recall someone finding a new song being entered into the artists' song registry thing some time ago. Once I find that link, i'll put it in the first post as well.

So the first post has been updated as far as my memory serves me. Now I'd like to call upon others for help. I was looking at my statement under "Myths/What we don't know and I think it needs revising. What do we know about the style of LP7? Alls I can say for sure is Jonny said Ghost Stories is the night to the day (of LP7). And also Chris said (and Guy after) that LP7 will be the end of a story (like Harry Potter). I would say its implicit that they are treating LP1-LP7 as a series with LP7 as the 'final chapter' of a common theme among the 7 albums. I hope im not overreaching in saying LP7 will be themed in just about the same way as the previous work. I'm just a bit unconvinced because I don't really see LP4-LP6 as being quite the same as LP1-LP3. The band have said (during LP4 promotion) that they treated LP1-LP3 as a trilogy and LP4 as something new, so there's some ambiguity in that.... ^that's just what I think. Perhaps there's a quote im forgetting somewhere that can make sense of it all. I hope a user can come and pool their knowledge here, 'cause its starting to become a shit show over in the other LP7 thread with Miracles.
